@ChrisClayton
ParticipantSell me on it. What does your theme do that couldn’t be done with any of the hundreds of the free bootstrap themes and a quick click of a button using the template pack plugin? What value does it provide that i couldn’t get from a free theme?
Free WordPress bootstrap themes i could use.
rootstheme – http://rootstheme.com
wpbs – http://320press.com/wpbs/
+100 others+ https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/
So, i ask again… What’s in it for me? What do i get for $10?

@mercime
ParticipantOverwrite styles from parent theme https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/default.css#L501 in your child theme
Firebug, a Firefox add-on, can help you inspect the element and change the style you need.

Participant>> Should I look to another theme from buddypress???
It’s not the theme, it’s your installation. Site URI and testuser username and password?
March 17, 2012 at 9:59 pm #131537@mercime
ParticipantUnless there was a major HTML structure change in the free Platform theme by Pagelines in the last 4 months, you only need to make a few style tweaks to get your BP template files aligned with Platform theme pages after installing and activating the BP template pack plugin per my post here – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/buddypress-pushes-sidebar-down/

Participant>> , It shows a Blank Page for Register, Activity, Group… etc. How can i fix this?
To make your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress, you need to install and activate the BP Template Pack plugin, then go through BP Compatibility process https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
Also, go to dashboard BuddyPress > Pages and make sure that BP components are associated with “Pages” in that panel.

MemberTotally deleted the basic theme. Even went old school and uploaded the download from buddypress.com via my ftp. Nothing. Cannot create groups. I’m doing it from the front end. I see no way to do it from the back end. I really need help. I want this up by the 19th. Should I look to another theme from buddypress???

ParticipantMake sure your www or public_html folder has 777 chmod settings.
In your wp dashboard rollover Settings -> Permalinks.Either re-save, or add %postname% in the box and hit save.
That should do it

Member… and I’m on the BP Default 1.5.4 by the BuddyPress team theme. Still getting no response from the group creation. Same steps, same outcome and no error code or url info. Just nothing. It kicks me back to this address: http://llfh.myhelprep.com/groups/create/step/group-details/ of which you may not be able to see because I reactivated my plugins.
I did all you said about and nothing changed. Plugins got deactivated except buddypress. Basic default theme and I upgraded to 5.3 on the PHP and my wp 3.3.1 version.
HELP???
March 16, 2012 at 4:19 pm #131486In reply to: Theme background problems
Annie_Whitt_Wen
MemberThank you for the suggestion. I tried it by entering the style in the main .css file and removing it under the Appearance—Background setting—but that removed some styling of other background areas so I reverted back. Where do you suggest I remove/add that style—the template css file or BP css files? And then should I remove any background under the Appearance—Background (that seems to override the other style sheets).
March 16, 2012 at 4:03 pm #131485In reply to: [Resolved] Fixing Alignment for Minimatica WP Theme
@mercime
ParticipantIf registration is not working even after you change to bp-default theme and deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress, then the issue is not related anymore with this topic which was supposed to fix the alignment of the Minimatica theme, which we have done. I am marking this topic as resolved.
Please start a new topic for your registration issue/s – include information about your WP/BP versions again, single WP or WP multisite, Windows or Linux hosting or locally hosted, plus other information like steps to replicate the registration redirect to home page.

Member@mercime first off sorry If I am doing anything wrong.
And what I got down was those plugins that you told me about and what happen to buddypress is this,
So I download the plugins and stick them on my site then all of the sudden, my slider on the site starts to show funny code things that I can’t find, the pages worked at that time and later, they didn’t work either making it seem odd. I began to play around and try to find the missing functions but I couldn’t find them. I tried plenty of things but it just wouldn’t work, Like I said every time I enable it the site has problems with those pages, I am only trying to figure out how and why these are happening. I don’t quite know what the functions are but I do know that something went wrong.
Site: videogamerznetwork.com (BuddyPress not active on this site right now)

Participant@videogamerznet you should know that we are volunteers here living in different time zones just trying to help out.
– WP/BP versions? Linux or Windows hosting? Single WP or WP Multisite?
– What do you mean by “I think I got that down”? Can you write down the steps you made to install BuddyPress and BP Template Pack plus include information about the exact errors showing up and when, and what you mean by “things are collapsing” and “some pages won’t show up its crashing down”?

MemberThank you for your response. When I said mobile theme, I actually meant responsive. The default does an okay job, but needs a bit of work to make it more like a web app feal. I working on that now.
So there are no more options for io5 that I hadn’t considered…
I’ll use flickr until a native app becomes available.Someone please write it!

ParticipantHave you tried basic troubleshooting: changing to bp-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress?
>> PHP Version: PHP 5.2
WP 3.2 already requires PHP 5.2.4 https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#system-serverMarch 16, 2012 at 5:21 am #131458In reply to: Groups will not create

MemberPS: wp 3.3.1 version
BP Default 1.5.4 by the BuddyPress team theme
Operating System: Linux
PHP Version: PHP 5.2Hope that helps.
Thanks in advance.
March 16, 2012 at 3:33 am #131456@mercime
ParticipantYou could add the styles at the bottom of your theme’s style.css file which is located within wp-content/themes/ifeaturepro/css/ – back up your ifreaturepro theme folder to computer hard drive before if/when you upgrade your ifeature pro theme in server.
Btw, I still see the original BP template files rendering in your site.
March 16, 2012 at 3:26 am #131455In reply to: When is Privacy module coming into Buddypress
@ChrisClayton
Participant1. does the privacy plugin by Jeff work with BP 1.5.4? Has anyone ever tested or enhanced it?
It doesn’t work. (properly) Yes, afew people have ‘enhanced’ it. Have a look at @modemlooper‘s privacy plugin – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-profile-privacy/2. Is there ever going to be a core privacy module ever for BP? If yes, then in which version can we expect this?
Yep. It’s already coded and is set to be released in 1.6 (next major update)Have a look at the Trac ticket that details it – https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3695#comment:10
“I think when prioritizing the tasks for upcoming release, this should of the highest priority. Things like theme/css bugs and changes, minor bugs can be ignored. This one feature will make this software complete.”
I disagree. Features should NEVER come before bugs… i hate cockroaches all over my site
March 16, 2012 at 1:48 am #131453In reply to: [resolved] Remove/Disable Hidden Group Creation?
@mercime
ParticipantIf you have created a child theme of bp-default theme:
1. copy over create.php file https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/create.php
2. open up create.php, and above line #99 add: ` `
and then after line #106 add: “
so that you, the Site/Super Admin can create hidden groups if you want toIn effect, the hidden group option would look like this now:
`
`3. upload the file to your child-theme-folder/groups/create.php
