MemberJust doublechecking….is is this Theme Check Plugin? The one last updated in August before 3.3? https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/theme-check/
mikek
MemberMuch appreciated….will toy with it this week.
@mercime
ParticipantWhich plugin did you mean re”process of the theme pack plugin “? The “theme” Check plugin or the BP Template “pack” plugin?
Re Theme Check plugin, it will just generate what the problems are, if any, of your theme vs WP 3.3
Re BP Template Pack plugin, if it doesn’t work for you, deactivate the plugin and then delete the 6 folders transferred to your WP theme in server – activity, blogs, forums, groups, members, and registration.
Sure, backing up DB and server files is always a good thing.
You’re welcome.

MemberThanks mercime. Before I go through the process of the theme pack plugin, does it have a “back to original” feature or anything? Basically, if I make changes to preview, can I go back to scratch at any point (my hacked theme as of before installing the plugin) without saving any of the changes? The walk-thru you pointed to didn’t really cover that (unless I’m blind) and in case something goes wrong, I’d like to know ahead of time how to bring myself back to normal.
Worst case, just a complete backup that export from wordpress right before I add the template plugin?
Thanks again

ModeratorWelcome to open source, you’re going to love it as there are many pieces of the code puzzle already created for you,especially with WordPress and BuddyPress. If you do get involved in open source projects please give back by releasing your custom code to be used freely by others. Any plugin/theme you get from wordpress.org is under a GPL license and you can take that code and do whatever you wish with it.
You can use the s2 membership plugin with BuddyPress to create a membership site.

ParticipantIf you’ve been hacking your theme, you might want to install Theme Check plugin just to make sure that everything’s kosher. Then to make your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress, you will need to install/activate BP Template Pack plugin which will transfer 6 folders with BP template files to your active WP theme. Go through the BP compatibility process https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/

Keymaster@sameeraperera You’re correct that this is an xprofile-only problem.
In bp-default, we don’t show the options_nav at all (where subnav items appear) on others’ profiles. See https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.2/bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/profile.php#L12
This does not seem like the optimal design to me. I’ve opened a ticket to fix it in a future release: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3877 In the meantime, you can override members/single/profile.php in your theme, and remove the bp_is_my_profile() check.

MemberThanks for your responses,
I’ve disabled all of the plug-ins and have used the bp-default theme and still have the same problems. I’m going to create a trac ticket I suppose, but preferably I’d like my questions answered here.

Member@mrandrewaustria – i’d suggest a more positive approach over the above reply.
if you can reproduce the issue consistently (via bp-default theme and disabled third party plugins) – create a trac ticket with the steps/details. I doubt the main developers are looking downward on people reporting issues (why would they?)
if the crop/favorite actions are not working – sounds like a javascript issue
for email – there are several action and filters hooks to use and different ways (client side or extend a custom register page)

MemberSo I should replace every one of those files with the code you provided above? Even if it is different right down to the ?
I did so with all the forum pages and it still looks like this. http://hanginout.info/forums/
Thank you for your time and patience.

ParticipantFor the remaining 15 files (If you have multisite/created a network then you have to edit blogs/create.php and blogs/index.php files. if not, then you need to fix 13 more files), all have the same changes at the BOTTOM of each file except for registration.php, where you’ll also need to add the following script in the replacement code in between get_sidebar and get_footer
`
jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});
`The TOP portion of each file will almost be the same as what I posted above for activity/index.php. The difference being some BP page titles are wrapped within opening `

Participanthttp://hanginout.info/activity is the page where activity/index.php is rendered – and it looks GOOD, success! – just needs some styling improvements. We need to remove the extra `>` in line above `

Btw, the link you posted is handled in the /groups/ folder so that hasn’t been “fixed” yet.

ParticipantDownload the 6 BP template folders tranferred to your wp-church theme during the BP compatibility process down to your computer hard drive. For this session though, we’re going to check how it turns out with one file first to see how we’ll proceed.
Open up /activity/index.php and at the top of the file, replace

ParticipantDid this issue happen only recently or has it always been like this since you first installed BuddyPress? What theme and plugins were you using when this first happened? I would at this point re-run Settings > Permalinks to year/month and Save Changes to “jog” the install.
December 20, 2011 at 4:27 pm #126665@mercime
ParticipantKeep bp-default theme activated and deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress, clear cache, run Settings > Permalinks and check posting in Activity Stream.

ParticipantGo to dashboard Pages > All Pages and check what pages are listed there. Do you have “Activity” “Groups” “Members” etc?
Go to admin dashboard menu Settings > Permalinks and choose permalink other than default and Save Changes.
Go to dashboard menu Appearance > Themes and choose the BP Default theme.
Are you on Windows or Linux server?

ParticipantThe pastebin for footer.php is blank and the pastebin for sidebar.php looks incomplete.
Initial scan shows that you’d have to use the first method of Step 3 i.e. changing 16 files transferred to your WP theme, and that it’s going to be a bit complicated. It may or may not work on the first try and at a certain point I might have to tell you that you’d need to contact theme author to help you check/correct what I’ve posted here. Now we’re done with the disclaimer
do post the footer.php and sidebar.php in pastebin.comDecember 20, 2011 at 4:04 am #126646In reply to: Changing HTML in current theme – WP Church Theme

Open up the header.php of your wp-church theme file and copy all. Go to pastebin.com and paste what you copied, click submit and post the generated URL here. Do the same for your index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php -
