MemberAlso, the reason I say it’s not connecting to my theme’s buddypress css styles is because if you look at my current forum page (only available by use of the bbPress shortcode) here:
And then look at what it’s supposed to look like with my BuddyPress theme (Mingle):
http://para.llel.us/themes/mingle-wp/forums/
There you go. Something is definitely up.

ParticipantI did think about that but wanted to avoid it since the whole idea of the child theme is to replace the default but keep the default intact in case it needs to fall back on something. I guess I’m going to have to do that anyway.. Thanks.

ParticipantYes – same problem. I am using Bp 1.5 with the twenty eleven theme with buddypress template pack and I don’t want the activity stream activated – but seems I have to have it.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_activity_get_permalink() , bp-members/bp-members-template.php on line 590. Would love some help on this.December 8, 2011 at 5:38 pm #125868In reply to: Can't see 'members' page in buddypress local install

Member@mercime This error is giving with fresh install, with bp 1.5.1 and wp 3.2.1, not with old themes/plugins. Its a clean install.

ModeratorI had the same problems before and my fix is to cut the content from the default CSS and place it in your child theme. I also like this method as I can just edit everything in one file no need to worry about cascading

Participantyes, added it to the sidebar.php of my bp-default child theme (cannot show, local at the moment).
have shortened it a bit, but same things happends with 100% default loop too.
it was checked on IE8, but looks like firefox doesn’t have such problem. However, I have custom search in adminbar and it searches both loops again (members directory and custom in the sidebar, in both browsers), that’s why I thought about some locking.December 8, 2011 at 7:04 am #125822In reply to: Can't see 'members' page in buddypress local install
@mercime
ParticipantIf you’re using an older BP theme or bp-default child theme, check out section on Theme Information on this page https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/1-5-developer-and-designer-information/

Participant@funkisockmunki if you change to bp-default theme and clear cache, does the problem persist or is it corrected?
December 7, 2011 at 11:01 pm #125793@mercime
ParticipantI’ve added some screenshots at the bottom of the tutorial https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-eleven-bp-1-5/3/ so you could see how to see how the basic set up turned out.
– Do not disable the bp.css in the compatibility process.
– Did you add the styles suggested on page 3 of the tutorial to your child theme’s style.css file?
– Site URL would help us to see what’s going on.December 7, 2011 at 8:51 pm #125786peeld
ParticipantThis is even WORSE…
-Hidden/private group activity DOES show for logged-out users
-Hidden/private group activity DOES show on the Friends activity tabI’m using Themekraft CCPro as well as S2member.
Also using BP Forums Extras: View activity comments on forum posts
Activity Bump.I’ve made no modifications to activity-loop.php.
For the moment, I can restrict activity for not logged in users by using s2member’s uri restrictions, but this is just a patch, there’s something funny going on here.
Daisy
PS as an aside, I can’t access any forum topics I’ve started or replied to through my profile page *on this site*. Also can’t post activity updates or private messages to anybody. Can’t access forum replies via the menu at the very top of the page either.

MemberThanks

I´ve seen that url already via Google, but it looks way to scary for me (I´m just a beginner).
Might give it a go via a childtheme before I completely mess things up in my own theme

Chris
ParticipantSorry I took so long to reply. What I did was I made a child theme and then added a header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php file to the child theme. I followed this tutorial,
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-eleven-bp-1-5/But I’m still having problems. Here is a link to the site with the child theme running – http://projectfivezero.com
Also, making the child theme, I lost a lot of the styling of fonts and what not.
Thanks again for the help. Also, If you want to see the original theme, not the child theme let me know and i’ll enable it.
Thanks.

Member1) install Buddypress
2) Select to use the BP default theme. Now you want to tweak and or create your css top of this ? do YOU
1) EDIT THE bp default STYLES
2) SET UP A BASIC CHILD THEME ?I think 2)
So how do you do that and what are the basic files needed ?.
The community needs to stop being so cryptic with answers – ITS only CSS

KeymasterI can’t reproduce either issue on my local installations.
– Hidden/private group activity does not show for logged-out users
– Hidden/private group activity does not show on the Friends activity tabAre either of you running plugins that affect the way that activity works? Or is there something in your custom theme that modifies the activity loop?
December 7, 2011 at 5:01 pm #125768peeld
ParticipantI am having this issue – Private Groups are showing up to logged in users, under the ‘my friends’ tab in the activity stream, even though they themselves are not a member of the group that is private!! I am using BP for a paid membership site, please help, this is a hole in the privacy….
I removed the ‘all members’ activity stream option/tab from my theme, so I don’t have to worry about that, but still…private group activity shouldn’t show up there?!

ParticipantI am troubleshooting this issue at the moment. In my theme, I’ve removed the “all members” activity tab, to limit this issue. But if somebody is friends with somebody else who is a member of a group they are NOT a member of, they get to see that person’s activity even though they’re not in the group. Any tips other than removing the “my friends” tab, which I really don’t want to do?

ParticipantThanks. I’m using a theme with Buddypress compatibility (Salutation by Parallelus). I didn’t think I needed the BP Template Pack but its worth looking into.

ParticipantIF you are using a custom theme you MAY need to change the template files of the plugin to suit your theme as per BP Template Pack instructions e.g. plugins—-> bp-album —->includes

ParticipantThank you for replying so quickly – I’ve just assigned the theme menu to a custom one but nothing’s changed. Looks like something might be broken?
[EDIT – interestingly it works on the default theme, but messes up on all other themes]
