ParticipantI should have added – to troubleshoot what is causing such behavior in your installation. If it’s custom community theme, then the theme authors should be notified asap. If changing to bp-default does not resolve the issue, then it could be easy-contact plugin that’s causing the issue.

ParticipantBut I don’t want to use that theme, I’m using custom community! Surely there is a better solution than changing the theme?
October 16, 2011 at 4:05 pm #123224@mercime
ParticipantPlease do not post the whole error message as it will be cut short in title. Post the whole message in your post. Deactivate BP Template Pack, it’s not needed when you use the bp-default theme or a child theme of bp-default.

ParticipantIs BuddyPress installed in the main site or subsite? What theme are you using?
October 16, 2011 at 3:55 pm #123221@mercime
ParticipantChange theme to bp-default theme.

@mercime
Participant@cupid4 that would be in this CSS file at buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/default-rtl.css that’s enqueued in bp-default and automatically enqueued in child theme

ModeratorI’d say that you need to update the theme if you can to a BuddyPress 1.5 version. It looks like it’s looking for CSS and maybe javascript files that don’t exist. Also the javascript files (ajax.php also) may not have been updated.
As it’s your drop down that looks like it’s stopped working that would be probably a scripting issue with an error or resource not being found then causing the rest to fail.

Participant@mrscooches You’re right. It was not in the theme’s settings. I found it in
custom-community/core/includes/theme-generator/theme-generator.php
The easiest way is to delete or replace the footer credit in that file. Look for ``October 14, 2011 at 11:22 pm #123424In reply to: BuddyPress 1.5 compatibility for plugins and themes

ParticipantSo did 1.5 solve any of these across the board issues with plugin compatibility or are we still waiting for all of them to be fixed? Also does anyone know how I could personally fix the Facebook login plguin for buddypress so it works with 1.5?

KeymasterI’m guessing that jQuery or jCrop is being loaded twice on your page, and only Chrome is being smart enough to clear up conflicts. I know you’re not a programmer, but at least you might consider viewing the source of your page (right click and View Source or View Page Source) and then search the page to see how many times you find `jquery.js`. If you see it more than once, then that’s probably your problem, and you’ll have to comb through your theme files to figure out the issue.

MemberI cannot switch back to bp default now, as I have lots of customizations and from experience switching to a different theme will reset some of them which I really cannot afford to do ….
Tried with the plugins, could not find any faulty one ….
But how can you explain that it WORKS in Chrome, only not in Firefox and IE !!??!
This is the error that Firefox keeps giving back:
Error: jQuery(“#avatar-to-crop”).Jcrop is not a function
Source: http://www.site.com/members/membername/profile/change-avatar/
Line: 97?!??!
Thanks!

@mercime
ParticipantSure. As mentioned in a previous post, theme dev would know what to replace that with since title and the breadcrumb script won’t work with BuddyPress pages and you’ll be left with the search form. At this stage, if you want to have the page titles of the BP components in that div.main-holder, to avoid replicating page titles you’d have to use the first method of the BP compatibility process where you’ll change 14+ BP template files.

Keymasterthe almost full lack of support around b-press is not exactely the best thing about this otherwise brilliant plugin
The people who build the software and man these support forums are strictly volunteers. Please be patient.
It’s hard to tell the problem without seeing your site, but it’s likely that it’s a problem with your theme. Either that, or one of your themes is deregistering jQuery. Have you tried with bp-default to see if the problem persists? Or tried deactivating some other plugins to find a conflict? At least that would narrow down the issue.

Member…okay, yep, somehow Buddypress itself got deactivated.
Wow, I’m a special snowflake this morning.
Thanks for the wake-up, @boonebgorges. I needed that. And a cup of coffee, apparently.

Keymasterbp-default should not be in wp-content/themes. It is loaded directly from wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes.
It sounds like BuddyPress is not fully loading. Check a few things:
– Make sure it’s activated
– Make sure it’s not waiting for you to walk through an upgrade wizard. Try clicking on the BuddyPress menu item on the Dashboard or on Dashboard > Network Admin (multisite)October 14, 2011 at 2:50 pm #122796In reply to: Themes broken after 1.5.1 upgrade

Member@boonebgorges: Yep, that’s what I mean. I keep getting WP errors when I try to activate a child theme.
The upgrade apparently removed bp-default from my Themes folder somehow; I went and copied it back in, and activated it just now. I’m still getting errors – calls to undefined functions. So far, I’ve gotten a call to undefined function on line 13 and one on line 27, as copied above.

MemberAnd hey, after activating just the bp-default theme, I’m still getting errors!
Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_site_name() in /home6/candlema/public_html/sadblasters/wp-content/themes/bp-default/header.php on line 27
I’ve also gotten a fatal call to undefined function on line 13.
Seriously, no idea what’s wrong here. I may just go nuclear, scrub everything, and start from scratch. Luckily, I only built the site a couple days ago and only really have test users.

KeymasterChild themes appear to be working fine for me. There should have been no changes in 1.5.1 that affect how child themes work.
I try to go to any BP theme, it’s simply broken and won’t work
Can you be more specific? Does “go to” mean “activate”? In what sense won’t it work? Do you get white screens? Do you only get WP errors, with the theme reverting to a default? What happens when you activate bp-default itself?
