MemberHate to say it, but I am having the same issue using WP 3.1.1 and BP 1.2.8
This is using the BP Default Theme.
Same behavior too, as it redirects after registration to the main site url. This is NOT in the root of the web server, but a sub direction if it matters (domain.com/_news/)
There seem to be issues surrounding this all across the forums with mixed updates. Anyone definitively have the solution for this as it seems people either post and figure it out or post and give up?
Thanks in advance!

Participant@henrypwmoulton Doesn’t look to be compatible with BP and it looks more like a forum custom post type. Reminds me of a premium theme http://wordpressqa.com/
Having said that, the best way to find out if that plugin is compatible with BP would be to ask the plugin devs at http://wp-answers.com/contactApril 12, 2011 at 6:44 am #110079In reply to: Bar not compatible with themes, (java issue?)

ParticipantChecked out the theme demo and it doesn’t look like JS conflict at all. It looks more like you missed checking option to include the bp.css file which has the styling you need for the BP Admin Bar to move to the top of the page.

ParticipantI suggest that you take advantage of BuddyBase theme dev’s forums or download a copy of the theme and re-upload manually via FTP or cpanel etc.
http://www.buddyboss.com/forum/EDIT – on second thought after seeing their forums, I suggest re-uploading copy of theme since something got lost in a revision or file transmission. It should look like the demo http://www.buddyboss.com/buddybase/the-museum-of-science-and-industry/

Participant@ghostrose333 BP/WP versions?
– Change theme to bp-default and deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress. See if same behavior applies.
– Did you go to dashboard > BuddyPress > Forums Setup and install the forum?
– Check your database if tables for forums were created.April 12, 2011 at 6:14 am #110075In reply to: Activity Reply Not Working

Keymaster@virtuali- Yeah I have a link to where it’s being developed.
It’s called http://localhost/
@gregfielding- I’ve decided not to add colors because every theme is different and the plugin has to be generic enough to suit each theme; FYI, my own theme is going to expand on this and add colors for text, border color, etc.

ParticipantLast versions of BP/WP.
No, I don’t use GroupBlog plugin for creating blogs, it’s just the only plugin with frontend dropdown list by which I can see that there’re blogs on a site. Also, I see this blogs in admin panel in the backend, I can manage them, add themes or change some options, but they don’t appear in the frontend. Last things what I’ve done on a site is just setting official import WP-plugins (rss-inport, livejornal-import).

That removes the reply box from comments so you’ll get a one-level reply section

ParticipantWP/BP versions? Have you deactivated all plugins except BuddyPress and changed to bp-default theme to see this is not a plugin/theme conflict?

@mercime
Participant@alexbdd Following the instruction in this BP codex article https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
Go to server and download the template folders/files transferred by BP Template Pack plugin process to your active WP theme folder down to your computer.
Open up activity/index.php
change this at the top, replace:
``
with
`<?php
get_header ();
?>
<div class="column span-“>`At the bottom of same file, replace
``
with
`
<?php
get_sidebar();
get_footer();
?>`Save file and upload to server following the directory structure. You need to do the same thing in the next 12 files.

MemberHi anyone,
I am using a special theme with index.php coded like this:
`<?php
get_header ();
?>
<div class="column span-“>
<?php
bm_homepageIntro ();
bm_homepageTabs ();
?><?php
get_sidebar();
get_footer();
?>`How can I make changes to fix the theme layout? It’s strange that there is no div id on my index.
Thank you,
Alex

Participant@number_6 you might need to update template tags in Saffron theme’s header.php which you can double check by comparing with header.php of bp-default theme https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/tags/1.2.8/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php

ParticipantOoh! Very cool… I was going to start playing around with the idea for my theme too. But I’ll wait for your plugin which will likely be infinitely more robust than my n00b brain could churn out

KeymasterFWIW, I’m working on my own plugin for this, which is coming out when I’ve finished my theme. No time table for release.
Screenie:

Allows you to upload unlike the plugin above and supports groups. What my plugin currently doesn’t have is a default selection of custom backgrounds.
April 10, 2011 at 9:52 pm #109949In reply to: How to combine WP and BP themes
@mercime
Participant= I found some article and plugin for custimizing WP theme for BP ==
That’s one way, using your WordPress theme and installing the BP Template Pack plugin to transfer BP template files (for BP component pages) plus ajax and js goodness to make your WP theme BP-compatible.
Another way is to create a child theme of the bp-default theme
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
then adjust via CSS only to change layout and colors or do more than that.April 10, 2011 at 8:48 pm #109935In reply to: Buddypress is finished?

ParticipantCheck out the Trac to see the state of development. There are three core developers with commit privileges they do all the work – mostly – and they work on a voluntary basis as this an OS project, members also help to move it forward and the speed at which it does develop is largely governed by the effort we all put in and other than the main three developers not many of us are contributing at the moment!
As for themes ? what do you want, again these are written on a voluntary basis and themes for BP are of a magnitude harder than a bog standard WP layout and are not a trivial matter and take time, but there are themes around if you look.
So no the project isn’t abandoned.

If you mean files in child theme of bp-default theme, that has been reported

Member@mercime Thanks. I’ll try your suggestion and see how it works out. The reason i want to do this is because the bp css and js seams to work best with the bp default theme. Before posting here I tried converting my existing theme using one of the links you referred to above, but it doesn’t work as smoothly as having the default bp theme. Besides, having the site look different on its social networking part isn’t that bad of an idea.
