In reply to: Update a BuddyPress 1.0.3 plugin to the last version
@mercime
Participant== I have an old plugin that someone developped for my project ==
Your post title says BP 1.0.3 plugin. So that “old plugin” you’re referring is BuddyPress 1.0.3, right? Or is the “old plugin” a BP-compatible plugin which needs updating to be compatible with BuddyPress 1.2.8 / WordPress 3.1?
If you need to hire somebody, post here: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-jobs-board/
If you want to explore upgrading the installation yourself:
– backup database and server files
– deactivate all plugins and change theme to default theme
– version upgrades of BP/WPMU and later BP WPMS
– download BP versions from here: https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/tags
– download WordPress WPMU/WP from here: https://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/
(MU versions in last table of webpage)Better yet, if that install has not been used at all, drop tables and delete .htaccess and wp-config (after DB backup of course), and start from scratch – WP 3.1 and BP 1.2.8

@mercime
Participant1. If you’re using the bp-default theme, the wp_footer call is already in the theme.
2. Recommend that you create a child theme of bp-default theme so that your modifications won’t get overwritten when you upgrade BuddyPress https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
EDIT –
3. BP Sliding login panel. If I’m not mistaken, that’s supposed to replace the BP Admin Bar in the front end. Deactivate that plugin and you’ll see the BP Admin Bar.March 31, 2011 at 7:57 pm #109234In reply to: BuddyPress Admin Bar Gone

MemberThanks I will try this. I am using the BP-Default Theme. Take a look at the site here.

@mercime
Participant@JamieWade adding “ to a theme’s footer.php file just before closing shouldn’t bring out a long list of pages in front end (you need “ or pages_menu etc. for that to happen).
What theme are you using?

Still not clear. If you’ve added template codes to “call” Pages in specific areas of the site, then you should see the Pages whether you’re admin or not, unless you’ve added a conditional statement `if (is_super_admin)` in front of the code … did you?
It would help if you posted a link to a screenshot of what you see as Super Admin or Site Admin along with site URL or another screenshot of what’s happened next. What theme are you using?

MemberThanks for the answers.
Guess i’ll have to wait for it to come out, in order to have a proper plugin.
Is the default theme complete deprecated of SEO?Sure Virtuali, if this post actually was about that exact plugin i would, but i just mentioned it as i heard about it somewhere, and my inquiry was about SEO, and not the plugin.

@mercime
ParticipantWhat theme are you using? Change to bp-default theme, keep all BP/WP plugins deactivated except BuddyPres. If that doesn’t solve it …

ParticipantYou can add widget areas anywhere you like. See this tutorial to learn how: http://wpmu.org/how-to-widgetize-a-page-post-header-or-any-other-template-in-wordpress/
You should create a child-theme of bp-default first though to avoid having to redo all your modifications when you upgrade Buddypress: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENDIF in /home/content/93/6562893/html/wp-content/themes/fishbook-buddypress-buddypack/header.php on line 67EDIT: I fixed this by going to line 67 and deleting it then reuploading. Works great! Thank you very much.

ParticipantThe logical question would be, “what theme are you using?”

MemberThank you for your reply, I believe that’s only if I’m using the buddypress default theme though; I am not. It goes on to say “If you are not using the BuddyPress default theme, you have to insert the BP Profile Search form somewhere in your theme Members page”. I have no such page. I have tried just creating a page and inserting the code ”. This didn’t work of course. Any thoughts?

MemberThanks Paul, will be waiting eagerly.
Also, probably out of context; but can I receive notification when someone comments on a forum topic, as well as all who have commented in the thread?
cheers, Rob

KeymasterLike I sad above, it’ll be part of 1.3. If you can’t wait, just add the margin to the appropriate elements yourself (I think that is all that was missing).

s.a.991
MemberOk, I thought it could also be done in the backend. The groups function is enabled. Just have activated the default theme and here it works. I am developing my own theme so i don’t want to shred this. Maybe some code is missing… All Buddypress templates are implemented thus the error MUST be in my theme’s templates. It’s not the functions.php, already have checked it.

Memberthank you mercime for replying. its the ajax.php that is the problem. this is the error that i get
‘Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /…./public_html/chill/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/ajax.php:553) in /…./public_html/chill/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-messages.php on line 556’. i have already checked the above link.
line 553 in ajax.php is this below line code:
‘echo bp_core_fetch_avatar(array(‘item_id’ =>$user_id,’type’=>’thumb’,’width’=>15,’height’ =>15)).’ ’.bp_core_get_user_displayname($user_id).’(‘.$username.’)’;
} ‘regards

@mercime
Participant@larrysmith1000 If you’re created a child theme of bp-default theme, did you surround the code in functions.php file with opening “ at bottom?
March 28, 2011 at 11:55 pm #108989In reply to: Not able to create a group
@mercime
ParticipantDeactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change to bp-default theme, clear cache and see if you can now create a group. I assume you did not disable Groups in BuddyPress > Components. https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/
Btw, what do you mean by “There is no such thing like “Create a group” in the backend.”? You create a group in front end of site.
