    No biggie for the IE6 display:none bug. I changed it per @hnla‘s suggestion.

    @djpaul an issue: when creating a menu link thats not a page just a straight url link to say /activity it doesn’t add the class to make the tab look selected.

    check it by clicking activity and then another tab http://tempsg.com/

    If twentyten doesn’t work with IE6 then I don’t see why BP Default should work with IE6 either. But if it mostly does, so should we.

    I’m not against moving the nav menu to the left of the screen, but we’d need a really really good reason to do that.

    @modemlooper Looks cool! Let me know how you get on

    I only messed with it yesterday as I wanted to add drop downs to my themes. I thought BP wasn’t going to work with IE6 anymore. Also that css is the 2010 with id’s edited. So why would BP fix IE bugs when 2010 does not? Fixed to accommodate out dated and broken IE6

    no ‘display:none;’ please, left:-999em; / left:0;

    What are intending on doing for users having to still use IE6 ?

    Issues with the way the nav is floated right and drop downs going off the edge. You might have to rethink the top nav to the left. This is really apparent when you double nest.

    edit// :) ok scrub that modemlooper has sorted it.
    I’ll take a look in the morning, the new menus have a draw back at the moment in not doing nested dropdowms so not sure how you’ve forced that behavior, I implemented them in pcwriters plugin using a top level li element as exists for adminbar elements.

    @djpaul

    I’ve been working on this over here http://tempsg.com/

    I was doing it with a if ( is_nav_menu( ‘BuddyPress’ ) )
    show menu
    else
    show the hard coded links

    I got it at least…

    What i need is the possibility to copy/paste some code in my forum posts.
    The code on the pastebin is globally correct, but as boone says, “it’s not totally reliable”.

    The first thing, i you want to use it, is to copy paste the given code into your child theme function.php file.
    Then you add a filter to deactivate the (damned) default typographical double cote wp filter

    remove_filter( ‘bp_get_the_topic_post_content’, ‘wptexturize’ );

    here the code you find on pastebin

    in the function bporg_decodeit, retrieve <code> in the if statement
    `if ( ‘

    ' == $matches[1] )`
    Should be
    `if ( '
    ' == $matches[1] )`

    In the function bporg_code_trick, there are 4 backticks, we have to change this a little

    In the first callback, replace the FIRST backstick by & # 96 ; (without space)
    In the second callback, replace the SECOND backstick by & # 96 ; (without space)

    That's it ! Now you can copy most of php code with backstick and the right double cotes.

    I’m using a standard BP theme as child theme , and only for translation purpose.
    As you can compare with what is on pastebin, some code is wrong, also here on bp.org

    the return contains $text between backstick, but they are converted to < code >

    The code in the pastebin is exactly what’s running on bp.org, so it definitely works. If there’s a problem, it might be a theme-related conflict.

    Make sure that you’re only using backticks, not [ code ]

    @zenzard yup, clear as mud. Never used Page Theme plugin. You might want to contact Page Theme plugin author to get it to work with two BP compatible themes. On the other hand, it looks to me that it’ll be much easier and more future-proof to create Page Template/s instead.

    I hope I explain this right. The active theme on my site is Detox, which is bp enabled. However, I am using the Page Theme plugin so I can use different themes on different pages. The theme I want to use on two different pages is the Ecolines free theme (https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/eco). So it’s that theme where I want the bar to show up. (live link: http://herppeople.com/herpauctions/).

    I have installed the plugin using the corrected file above, and this is the error I get….

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare bp_dtheme_post_update() (previously declared in /home/***MY SITE****/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/ajax.php:113) in /home/*****MY SITE****/public_html/wp-content/themes/Detox/_inc/ajax.php on line 92

    So I think the fact that my primary theme, Detox, is bp enabled, is conflicting with the plugin. Clear as mud? LOL!!!!!

    That really depends on your theme. If the theme you use uses standard BP-Default theme markup (e.g. a child theme), then Buddyvents will work straight out of the box. There might be some minor CSS issues, but not more than with other plugins that use standard markup (depends on your modifications).

    The payment is for version 1.x only. Basically, while the plugin version stays at 1.x all updates and support are free. Once the plugin reaches 2.x the plugin will have to be purchased again at half price for existing customers. The readme file, where you can have a look at current/future features for various versions, can be found here:

    I dont know how to find out who the owner of the directories is? On the permalinks page I only can change the structure, nothing else. I do not really know what you mean, what I have to do on this page.

    I tried to deactive all plugins except Buddypress and activated the Buddypress Default Theme. Same issue with that! I cant believe that this is a server issue, because the avatar pics still exist and it problem came up since I updated…

    “The primary theme is buddypress enabled,”
    @zenzard – what primary theme? Per your post, you’re using “Ecolines” theme from repo, but I can’t find any such theme there https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

    1. Build a bp-default child theme – https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
    2. Open up style.css file of child theme and override fonts, colors and widths of parent theme elements by adding new styles for said elements

    That you cannot upload points more to an issue with server permissions than BP; even with folder permissions set to 777 the right group permissions need to be in place for the server to be allowed to move files around.

    Are you sure no other changes were made to the server? nothing like PHP safe mode turned on, are you on a shared host or do you control the server yourself? What have you tried if anything to rectify the issue? probably won’t help but doesn’t hurt to visit the permalinks page just to ensure you flush possible cache, reset those folder permissions, check who the owner of the directories is, ftp, server or the dreaded pcaln.

    It’s also probably worth just ensuring this isn’t a plugin issue by disabling all but absolute required and dropping back to default theme.

    I don’t think these points will help all that much, but you need to test a few things and rule them out for us. hopefully someone else may have encountered the same issue (I’ve uploaded 1.2.6 twice to production and not had the issue)

    Also how did you upgrade? upload via FTP or using the automatic upgrade?

    Okay, I’ll try that. I had tried the plugin, but got an error. The primary theme is buddypress enabled, so I thought maybe there was conflict there.
