Topic: BP Links
Hi,
We’re running news sites om WordPress and wants to integrate community functions by using Buddypress.
Does it run in the exact same way even if you don’t use MU? Or are there strong reasons to migrate to MU?
I *think* this is is the right section to post this in, forgive me if I’m wrong.
I’m in a bit of an odd position; I’m trying to add BuddyPress onto an existing site rather than start a new site.
For starters, I currently run a soccer-centric (well, soccer team-centric) blog over at http://www.aishiteru-tokyo.com. I’m using the K2 theme with the “dueling sidebars” stylesheet, for those of you who keep track of such things

Starting this year I’ve started a new supporter club for the team, and in trying to figure out the best way to come up with 1) a way for club members to register and 2) a way for me to send out periodical notices to club members (and maybe have them interact with each other). BuddyPress seems like a good way to accomplish this especially since it no longer requires WordPress MU.
However, when I tried to install BuddyPress, it seemed to take over my entire site, with the menu on top of my header and all that. Since BP and my K2/dueling sidebars theme don’t seem to get along, I’m wondering if I can restrict BuddyPress to a certain “subsection” (for example, if a user clicked on the “TOKYO DAMACY 1999” button on the dropdown menu, it would bring them to the BP front page which would of course have all the information on the supporter club.
So… is this possible? How? I’m able to tinker around with HTML/CSS but I’m not really an expert. I imagine this is less a BuddyPress question and more a WordPress question, in any case.
thanks in advance!
Topic: Link is wrong
Brand new to buddypress. I’ve installed it in my wordpress and so far, have one problem. All the links are wrong.
Example: a mouse over on the links to any section in the header, I see http://judysbookshop.com/blogs/administrator/*
There is no such address. I can’t find a subdirectory called ‘administrator’ anywhere.
Can somebody help me figure this one out?
Hi,
I’m posting this in both the WP.org and BP How-To Forums as I’m not sure which one I should post in. I am building a site that runs a single version of WordPress (latest version) along with the BuddyPress plugin (which included bbPress).
As I understand it, WordPress has its own search field which searches the WordPress Blog (posts, categories, tags) and individual WP Pages.
And BuddyPress has its own search field, which searches Groups, Members, Forum Topics, and Blogs (if using WPMU).
Is there a way to add two more search fields to the drop down menu of the BuddyPress Search, to include a search function for WP Pages, and the WP main Blog.
I will have a bunch of WordPress pages that I will be using to host profiles businesses in which any user can comment upon at the bottom of the page (through WP comments). So the WP Pages are like their own section which is why I would like to have a separate search category for them.
This might not be possible to separate the WP Blog and WP Pages while performing a WordPress search. But at the very least it would be nice to have the BuddyPress Search menu also include a search category for all of WordPress.
I came across the customized Google Site Search in another post, but that isn’t exactly what I’m looking for since you can’t search within specific categories.
so, any help would be great. I look forward to hearing what options there are.
Thanks.
