    @Andrea_r it was globalpress bought it from themeforest pain in the bum to do.

    I basically follow the steps as in the Buddypress template pack, however I have had issues with matching up the div and content classes / containers.

    I know that once I have actually done it once, I will be able to do it again but its a nightmare, I think the theme is overly complicated.

    Code revised to give protection even if buddypress gets deactivated: adds a second line of defence by hooking a wordpress action too. I’ve assumed that there’s no conflict here, but I don’t know if these two hooks collide. It seems to work ok.

    <?php
    /*
    Plugin Name: BuddyPress Lockdown
    Plugin URI: https://buddypress.org/
    Description: Lock down your BuddyPress site if a user is not logged in.
    Author: Andy Peatling & Andrew_S1
    Version: 1.2
    Author URI: https://buddypress.org/
    Site Wide Only: true
    */

    function bp_lockdown() {
    global $bp;

    if ( BP_REGISTER_SLUG != $bp->current_component &&
    BP_LOGIN_SLUG != $bp->current_component &&
    BP_LOGIN1_SLUG != $bp->current_component &&
    !is_user_logged_in() ) {
    bp_core_redirect( site_url( BP_LOGIN_SLUG ) );
    }
    }
    function wp_lockdown() {
    if ( !is_user_logged_in() ) {
    auth_redirect( 'wp-login.php' );
    }
    }

    add_action( 'bp_init', 'bp_lockdown');
    // if no buddypress, have a backup plan
    add_action( 'send_headers', 'wp_lockdown');
    ?>

    I pasted Burt’s code to the end of function.php and I get a blank page

    Did I miss something?

    This is related to an earlier css question about a diagonal member directory (which is fixed). My friend listing is diagonal also. I am running WordPress 2.9.1 and have installed the BuddyPress Template Pack.

    Thanks!

    Reading over this post http://www.antezeta.com/blog/top-wordpress-security-tips I came across point 3:

    3. Change the default Admin Account user from “admin”

    My question is, HOW do I keep this new, supposed secret, admin account from appearing on the member list?

    Hi

    I’m creating my own BuddyPress template (using this great plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/). I was wondering if I could modify any id and/or class without breaking all the Ajax interactions.

    I believe all the JS is located in bp-core/js or maybe I’m wrong? Anyway, if someone could enlighten me, it would be great. Thx!

    What theme was it? Some themes are pretty straightforward, some are a nightmare. (I’m working on a pile of them in my “spare time”)

    Hi, sorry for such a newbie question but does BuddyPress 1.2.1 come with built in Forums? or does it come with forum integration and there is some other plug-in that I need to install that I may have missed.

    There is a sticky topic I see “Forum Integration: HELPING HINTS” which implies forums is something seperate but it is also a year old so confused as to if it is still relevant in my situation? I assume given it’s still a sticky it’s still relevant but then again everything else seems to imply forums are built in?

    In any regard I see the “forums setup” option inside buddypress, I choose “set up a new bbpress installation” and it said “All done! Configuration settings have been saved to the file..” but where are my forums? No new forum menu options appeared, are they supposed to?

    I see there is a sub-folder called bp-forums under the plugins directory.

    these two paths don’t seem to connect to anything.

    http://doc.onesportevent.com/forums

    http://doc.onesportevent.com/register

    these paths do seem to work just fine

    http://doc.onesportevent.com/activity

    http://doc.onesportevent.com/members/

    the groups path below works but I just noticed (seperate issue, sigh) that I can create a group ok but when posting to it it says “There was a problem posting your update, please try again.”

    http://doc.onesportevent.com/groups/

    happy to PM an admin password if it comes to that but hopefully something simple. I otherwise have a pretty clean install. using WordPress 2.9.1. (can’t qute figure out that auto-update to 2.9.2 yet!). I have BuddyPress 1.21 and BudyPress TemplatePack 1.0.2 I have not changed any files in source directories or anything like that. THe theme I’m using is Garland-revisited 1.75 by Simon Prosser.

    I am using the wordpress custom permalink structure /%postname%/ and the web.config below (I’m running on an IIS7.5 box). I’ve tried using the default permalink option.

    <?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?>

    <configuration>

    <system.webServer>

    <rewrite>

    <rules>

    <rule name=”wordpress” patternSyntax=”Wildcard”>

    <match url=”*”/>

    <conditions>

    <add input=”{REQUEST_FILENAME}” matchType=”IsFile” negate=”true”/>

    <add input=”{REQUEST_FILENAME}” matchType=”IsDirectory” negate=”true”/>

    </conditions>

    <action type=”Rewrite” url=”index.php”/>

    </rule>

    </rules>

    </rewrite>

    </system.webServer>

    </configuration>

    Any help muchly apreciated, I’m otherwise loving the looks of things on WP.

    I couldn’t find a solution for this. so I developed this Plugin. If there is already a better way to do it, please let me know!

    The plugin gives you the possibility to copy default blog options into new blogs automatically.

    It uses one mu blog as a default blog.

    All options you select from the default blog will be used for new blogs on a wpmu installation.

    After a new blog is created, the first time the dashboard is loaded, the options from the default blog will be copied into the new blog option table.

    This is interesting in many situations on a WPMU installation.

    If you want to automatically install some plugins with every new blog, there is already a plugin for free, look here http://wpmudev.org/project/wpmu-plugin-manager.

    With wpmu-plugin-manager you can have control over the plugins, but not over the setup of the plugins.

    So you need to configure all the options and settings every time a blog is created.

    To get rid of this nasty work, I developed this plugin.

    How it works:

    Just create a blog as default blog.

    Install all the plugins on this default blog you like to run on everey new blog.

    After you made all the needed configuration to your plugins and they work as they should work on every new blog, your work for this blog is done.

    Now all you need to do is, go to the main blog to Admin/default-blog-options.

    First you have to enter the blog ID of your default blog.

    When done, you will be able to select the options you’d like to have in every new blog.

    Once you have all the options selected and saved, you are finished.

    Every time a blog is created, the blogoptions are copied from the default blog like you selected before.

    Plugin url: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/default-blog-options/

    Please give me some feedback, and let me know about the bugs you find.

    :-Sven

    Since filters require some knowledge with WordPress, I’d recommend the CSS route.

    Put this in your stylesheet:

    .activity-list .activity-content img.thumbnail {display:none;}

    Don’t know about image posting in activity stream but FYI you can use this for video https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/oembed-for-buddypress/

    Is there any way to enable the activations mails in a Single WP like in MU?

    It seems to me BuddyPress supports activation only in WordPress MU.

    I’ve been poking around for some time and I’m a little surprised that not one person has been confused by the complete lack of security in BuddyPress. I have started a closed beta program for a project I’m working on for the Autism community. Without going into a lot of detail, the Autism community requires strong security. Facebook offers their version of security in that you need to be logged in and a friend in order to see someone’s profile information. All social systems I have seen and/or worked offer a choice about what you want to make public facing or only for approved individuals.

    BuddyPress offers no such protection at all. Nothing. Everything I can see while logged in as admin I can see by not logging in and simply clicking around. I’ve been using WordPress for 5 years now and, while I’m new to WPMU and BuddyPress, I know that there are no options for managing who gets to see what and under what circumstances. This would seem to me to not only be a critical aspect of any social network, but also a rather simple one to implement. Then again, I’m no coder. I’m just a weekend hacker with lots of sysadmin experience.

    Regarding my audience, there’s no way I can let people put in their personal information and let some random asshat walk in and read it, or worse, act on the personal and identifying information they find there. That’s just not possible.

    Is there something I’m missing? Some people tell me I’m smart, but I rarely believe them, so its very possible I’ve missed something obvious.

    Help?!

    I’m using a WordPress 2.9.2 and BuddyPress 1.2.1 with an Hybrid Child theme, I’m trying to integrate buddypress with the template pack plugin and all works fine.

    I want use BuddyPress only as “user manager”

    I would like to use the BuddyPress avatar system at single blog, but In the comments instead of the commenter’s avatar get the author’s entry avatar.

    Sorry my english is very poor.

    As far as I know wpmu_activate_user is a plugin action hook. Also mentioned here. It works for my function. Not sure what you need exactly.

    From the main wordpress admin you need to go to “settings” then check the box “anyone can register”

    hey all, I’ve put together a new plugin, it will eventually live here:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-rate-forum-posts/

    but for now you can find it here:

    http://bluemandala.com/plugins/bp-rate-forum-posts.zip

    basically, as the name says, you can rate forum posts. Thumbs up or thumbs down. Only logged in users can rate, and they can rate only once. Site-admins can rate as much as they want. (but not group admins).

    Users get a karma score based on how their posts have been rated. In the code you can choose between a pure average, a pure total of ratings. Default is set to somewhere in-between and average and a total.

    much inspiration was taken from the elegantly designed Intense Debate. Code was inspired for the excellently programmed iLikeThis plugin.

    eventually I might add ratings to other things such as group activity feed. (but not personal feeds)

    enjoy, and give feedback.

    I installed BuddyPress Template Pack on my wordpress 2.9.1 and the member directory is diagonal. I would like a vertical listing. How do I fix this? Thanks.
