Hi,
I’m not sure if this is a problem with my setup or with buddypress or wordpress. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a test version of my site running on MAMP with WordPress MU 2.9.1.1 and Buddypress 1.2. Everything is running great but when I try to install Buddypress on WordPress (not WordPress MU) or activate the Buddypress Links plugin MAMP becomes unresponsive.
Safari throws up the error:
Safari can’t open the page “http://192.168.1.101/network/wp-admin/plugins.php?activate=true&plugin_status=all&paged=1†because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again.
Any idea why that could be happening?
Thanks!

Sorry for yet another thread, but a lot of people are saying they are waiting for final to even test this out. Mods please feel free to close my other threads.
I just tagged 0.3 final. Read all about it here:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-links/
If you are upgrading from the 0.2.x branch, read the readme.txt VERY carefully!
Thanks to everyone who helped with this release! Also thanks to Andy for making BuddyPress Links a featured plugin.
I just upgrade 1.1.2 to 1.2 final, when i click the group’s RSS feed link, i got this errors in apache error log, anyone have same problem?
WordPress database error Unknown column ‘feed’ in ‘where clause’ for query SELECT count(id) FROM wp_bp_activity WHERE id IN (feed) made by require, require_once, do_action, call_user_func_array, bp_core_do_catch_uri, load_template, require_once, locate_template, load_template, require_once, locate_template, load_template, require_once, bp_has_activities, BP_Activity_Template->bp_activity_template, bp_activity_get_specific, BP_Activity_Activity->get_specific
Hello!
I contacted the plugin author of this plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/invitefriends-plug-in/) but he is busy these days and can’t look into it. So I have taken the job of fixing it (ofcourse with your help).
I believe it won’t be a big deal as most of its code is working outside the domain of BuddyPress. When I activate it on 1.2, I get a white blank screen.
My guess is may be some hook calls need to be changed or so.
Hey fellow Buddypressers. I raised this question at the WPMU forums and was directed here:
http://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic/16863
I’m running WPMU 2.7.1 and BP 1.2. Clicking the “Create new account” link (or going directly to http://dailynewarker.com/register) just redirects the user back to the homepage. Here’s the home page, the registration link is at right (using the new BP theme).
Here’s what I’ve tried to troubleshoot:
* Deactivate all plugins (except BP)
* Switched to BP 1.2 Default theme
* Searched the interwebs for a couple of days and couldn’t find anyone else with this issue
Nothing seems to help. I’m really at my wits end on this — appreciate the help!

Installed teh budyypress plugin. Get this error in my webserver log:
WordPress database error Table ‘database.wp_bp_user_blogs_posts’ doesn’t exist for query SELECT post_id FROM wp_bp_user_blogs_posts WHERE post_id =
in bp-blogs.php are different CREATE statements like this:
$sql[] = “CREATE TABLE {$bp->blogs->table_name} (
id bigint(20) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY,
user_id bigint(20) NOT NULL,
blog_id bigint(20) NOT NULL,
KEY user_id (user_id),
KEY blog_id (blog_id)
) {$charset_collate};”;
etc for other tables…
But there is no CREATE statement for wp_bp_user_blogs_posts
Could this be the error why there is no wp_bp_user_blogs_posts table?
Or why is this error showing?
WordPress is 2.9.1
<?php while ( bp_activities() ) : bp_the_activity(); ?>
<?php bp_activity_action() ?>
<?php endwhile; ?>
The above code produces nothing despite having site-wide activity elsewhere… I’ve placed this code inside login.php near the bottom of the page. login.php is a custom page template that is used when you access the page http://localhost/login/.
As soon as the code above is run it appears to crash PHP, or at least it causes the footer.php not to be outputted.
What have I done wrong? Is there a WP_Query object that I need to access as there is with WordPress? I’m confused.
For the record, I am using the 1.1.3 version of Buddypress as well as WordPress MU 2.8.6. I do not want to upgrade since I have made substantial changes to the theme, and am scared of breaking everything…
I might have no idea what I’m doing but I can’t use the forums at all, I mean I can see it under /forums however all I see are topic links (newest topics, most popular topics, etc) and search/topic tags on the right hand sidebar.
There is no way to post a topic, I’ve tried finding the admin panel for the forums from bbPress but couldn’t see anything. I’ve already gone through the ‘forum Setup’ option several times, it seems to be automated.
Now here’s my big question which is why I think this isn’t working: Am I meant to seperately install bbPress then go to ‘Forums Setup’ and do the install from buddypress? Right now it says ‘bbPress forum integration in BuddyPress has been set up correctly. If you are having problems you can re-install’
It says ‘NOTE: The forums directory will only work if your bbPress tables are in the same database as your WordPress tables. If you are not using an existing bbPress install you can ignore this message.’, how cna I install bbPress so the tables are in th esame database as my wordpress tables?
Sorry this is probably a really dumb question, I’ve tried looking up readmes and such online with no luck.
Buddypress 1.2, WordPress MU 2.9.1.1, External Group Blogs plugin 1.1.
Version 1.1 of the plugin according to the changelog was released to support BP1.2, but I’m having some issues I hope someone can help with on my 1.2 testbed. Grabbing RSS items and throwing them into the global activity stream is essential to the functionality of the site I’m working on.
With the previous version of BP, you could navigate directly to the list of recent RSS items. Here’s an example from the live site in question: http://jobsee.kr/community/groups/jobs-and-work/external-blog-feeds/
Notice it’s just adding ‘external-blog-feeds’ to the Group home URL and that there’s a ‘Blog feeds’ item in the Group Menu.
That doesn’t seem to work anymore with the latest version, which seems like a fairly significant loss of functionality. There’s no item in the UI for the Group to get there, nor does manually typing in ‘external-blog-feeds’ at the tail end of the URL get you to a list of recent RSS items.
But this isn’t just a matter of aesthetics or loss of functionality, it’s also a pretty big problem of having the plugin actually work, because the only way I ever found to get the plugin to actually pull in new RSS items was to visit that page, and it would kick off, and update the list. Annoying and clumsy, but it worked, more or less. Without anywhere to visit now to manually kick off an update, I’m at a loss!
Am I missing something, or doing something wrong here? I’m deep into redesigning a new child theme for BP1.2, but I’d really like make this work before I upgrade on the live site.
I’ve tried going into the admin panel where you add RSS urls (http://localhost.localdomain/community/groups/jobs-and-work/admin/external-blog-feeds on my testbed) and updating that doesn’t seem to update the RSS feeds either, sadly. Functionality is pretty comprehensively broken for me, then.
Anyone else having these issues? @andy any ideas what’s happening there? Thanks in advance.

register with “abc!xyz” (without quotes) but unable to login due to username being abcxyz
shouldn’t it disallow that character to avoid confusion?
