While some people are letting their members do any style, any way on their own personal MU blog pages, I wanted a more uniform appearance, at least at first, for my site.
I’d seen others ask the same or similar questions about creating what would be a “global” header and sidebar functions that could then be used on the member pages. But I’d never saw an easy way to do this until today.
The switch_to_blog function.
I had no idea there was such a thing — mainly ’cause I’m still learning WP — but it’s been a pot of sweet, succulent goodness now that I’ve discovered it and how it works.
I’ve been able to use it to create a consistent header across all of the member blogs. I’m working now on creating the recurring sidebar I wanted by using that and the restore command.
I’m sure there are some limitations, but I’m not attempting anything too fancy with this. So if you are working at trying to get some kind of scripted action controlled from afar for your member pages, check out the

I am getting a server error 500 every time I try to upload BuddyPress 1.0.2.
I uploaded buddypress 1.0.2 to the plugins folder – result = error 500
I installed buddypress 1.0.2 from the plugins panel – result = error 500
This is on a fresh WordPress mu 2.7.1 installation.
What am i doing wrong?
I want to display all tags(contain the tags in the blogs) in one pag or widget.
the default tags cloud just display tags in main blog,
is there any plugin or method to do this?
I try “WordPress MU Sitewide Tags Pages” but it just show posts.

Topic: Swahili Translation
I just finished doing the swahili translation but so far I haven’t found a valid “translation document”. All I get is the wordpress translation file.
My question: How do I get buddypress to pick up the swahili files before I make them public ?
I just moved over this wordpress my importing form XML file. I have about 25 post with tags and categorize
as you can see all the post are there

Is there a way to keep members out of regular behind-the-scenes admin areas entirely?
I had to request a new password for a test user. When you go through the process you’ll end up at a profile page in the admin area that is very different from the other profile editing options on the site.
The regular admin area doesn’t show X-profile data, so no full name, only that annoying username – I use the email login plugin. Of course the layout is very different, unless you go through the trouble of customizing the admin area to fit the front of the site.
What is Buddypress approach to this? Is it possible to completely close the back end for users? Will you cover all the account editing the user needs in the front of the site?
I found this plugin: Weasel’s Login Redirect, but it hasn’t been updated since 2007. This is what I need though:
Redirects user login attempts from going to your dashboard! Great for keeping the ‘back end’ private. Also allows alteration of the login/logout link text.
This one could be a solution: Peter’s Login Redirect. The name instills confidence.
ok, i started from 0 again, its my 4th day trying to make it work, 8 hours day, I am FRUSTRATED, now:

I followed ALL the steps in this post (https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=471&page=5), I know them by heart already, users are shared in bbpress and wordpress, if i log on as admin in wordpress i am logged in also in bbpress, cookies seem to work but….
…still not able to create a group with forum, nothing is updated in bbpress after creating the group, i think its because of cookies but I did ALL as commented so I am REALLY lost

ok, now when i log in in wordpress i am logged in bbpress, but still cant create a group with forums enabled
and now i can say i dont have any idea of what more to try

I have a peculiar problem: I signed up a test user and named it something. Oddly enough, the name wasn’t saved. Oh well, I thought, and entered it by editing my profile.
Then I signed up another user. This time the name showed up! Only it wasn’t the name I had in mind for that user – it was the name I had entered for the previous user, where the name hadn’t been saved!
Strange, I thought, and tried again. Only to see the same thing happen again. When I register, I get the name of the previous registrant, and the name I enter is saved for the next person who registers.
It keeps happening when I register some more.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I’m having a problem with comments. After submitting a comment I’m redirected to the very first post.instead of direct back to the post with the newly posted comment.
I have deactivated Buddypress and reverted to the original theme — then it works.
It doesn’t look to be a core problem. More looks like a Buddypress problem.
Initially I was having a problem where adding a comment just went to a white screen: http://mysite.com/comment-page-/#comment-
Solution to this was to drop and recreate the comment tables as per: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/249950
Now I’m having this redirect problem.
Can someone show me where this redirect takes place? I’d like to see it in the core files to understand better.
All help appreciated. Is this a known issue?
