In BuddyPress 10 (tested with 10.6), when a new blog post is published, the BuddyPress action field of a BuddyPress activity looks like this: <User> wrote a new post, <post title>. After the update to 11 (tested with 11.1), the post title disappeared from all old activities. When I downgrade to 10.6, the post titles reappear. The action field can be accessed through WordPress wp-admin in the Activity tab when you edit an activity entry.
Is this a feature or a bug?
Topic: Featured image doesn’t work
Hey, suddenly the Featured image-function doesn’t work. When I add a new post and want to add the featured image and the media library-frame shows it selects an empty image. If I choose another image nothings happens. If I upload a new image it uploads correct and but it doesn’t appear in the Featured Image.
If I deactive BuddyPress it works 100% again and when I activate it the same problem appears again.
Theme: SoledadI think it happened when I updated WordPressa few weeks ago. Ofc I tried to reinstall Buddypress, reinstall WordPress etc.
Any idea? Thanks!

Morning all, I am trying to get some help after spending 5 hours trying to work out what is going on.
I have a fresh install of wordpress 6.2 and buddypress 11.1.0.
When ever I try and look at the Profile of the admin user at https://eunuch.me/members/fusion I am met with a 404 page not found.
I have disabled and re-enabled the plugin and also updated Permalink with nothing working. I have also search Google and read up on a number of posts both here and on other support sites and none of them seem to have a resolution.

A month ago I created my first WordPress site with one third-party plugin and the forum plug-in bbPress.
Getting a theme to work well with both plugins took quite a bit of time as I had to write a small bit of custom css and PHP. My knowledge of css and PHP is low. Actually it took a few weeks to get everything to look nice and work well together, although the work was done on a very part-time basis.
I now want to install BuddyPress and bbPress together on another WordPress site as community software for a certain niche.
Is there a reasonably low-priced (or free) theme I can purchase for BuddyPress (and that works with bbPress installed on the same site) that looks nice?
Please give me some recommendations. I don’t want to spend three weeks making css tweaks to get a decent look community website.

I am looking for a plugin for BuddyPress that will display (after consent of the member) somewhere on a website, that this member is having it’s birthday.
I came across https://betterstudio.com/wordpress-plugins/best-wordpress-birthday-reminder-plugins/ but this plugin has not been updated for a long time so I am hesitant to use it. Is there an alternative plugin comppatible with BudyPress?

I would like to create a complex website (I will briefly explain the idea below). A few people recommended BuddyPress as a perfect platform for the idea. I would really appreciate if experienced users could tell me if my idea can be realized using BuddyPress and other WP modules.
Here’s the idea and the basic functionality I would need. The website will allow users to get creative input on their ideas. The users will upload files of their creative projects for the service staff and get files with variations or additional ideas from them in return. Other form of exchanging creative ideas would be chats with the service staff – a new chat would be started for each project. All of the files and chat history will be stored in each user’s private account.
The service would be free to try for the first week with a limited amount of chats and file exchanges. Then a recurring payment is going to happen once a month. Paid version will also have a limited amount of chats and file exchanges. If users want more feedback, they can pay for it. Additionally, free chats and file exchanges will have options to buy more detailed feedback.
Is BuddyPress capable of creating and managing a system with dozens (and later hundreds and thousands) of separate user accounts, each with its own history of chats and file exchanges? Is it capable of providing and handling all the different payment options I mentioned?
If so, which other modules should I look into? And what would be my first steps if I never had any experience with BP or WordPress? I have experience with HTML, CSS and JS.

I am looking for some guidance on how to add a “hover to play” feature on my WordPress website. Currently, I have a few videos on my website that start playing automatically when the user lands on the page. However, I would like to change this to a “hover to play” feature, where the video only starts playing when the user hovers over it.
I have been searching online for a solution, but I haven’t been able to find anything that works for me. I would really appreciate it if anyone could provide me with some guidance on how to achieve this.
I expect this is likely a configuration issue with either our BuddyPress installation, a conflict from another plugin (though it works on staging version), or perhaps a lingering cacheing issue. But looking to find assistance resolving it and willing to consider hired help on this.

Each group has it own separate bbPress forum. This all works OK except BuddyPress has its own forum which is bland and limited and bbPress is the “nice” functional forum which I want to use. Both these forums appear to be linked i.e a post to the bpPress forum also appears in the BuddyPress forum space although it seems that either can be independently deleted.
As it stands I find having these two forums confusing and messy from a user perspective.
What I want to do is replace the BuddyPress forum with the bpPress forum so that you only see the bpPress forum on the home page of each group and do away with the group Forum tab which currently links to the bbPress forum.
I don’t really need each group to do anything else rather than host the bpPress forum. Perhaps a single message on the group home page that a group moderator could change/edit would be a nice addition but it is not essential.
I have done a lot of Googling and while this problem has been mentioned a few times the solutions suggested seem very old and/or irrelevant.
I am comfortable with PHP etc but have very limited experience with BuddyPress and bpPress. Of course there may be a plugin which will do all this but I haven’t found one yet.

I’m working on a site for a charity, it’s in development at the moment. I’m using buddybuilder pro with Elementor to create custom Buddypress pages for Groups and Members listings.
On these listings pages, each member/group should be displayed in lists of 3 columns with space in between. Occasionally it will display properly, but most of the time it ignores my settings and displays all the members/groups squashed up together with no space in between.
I’m using buddypress version 11.1.0, and WordPress 6.1.1
Elementor Hello theme is installed, and the problem persists when I switch to one of the WordPress default themes.
I’ve disabled all plugins one by one except for the necessary ones (Elementor, BuddyPress, Buddybuilder) and the problem persists.

Topic: Manage signup confusion
I am trying to incorporate the new request membership feature that has admin approval of all membership. But it is confusing. It seems that instead of having anyone can register selected in the vernal wordpress setting that needs to be unchecked. Then that allowed the Buddypress option to be set for admin approval though the manage signup
Is that correct? I am having a hard time getting it to work. Any advise or input is appreciated. I would prefer to use this np built in feature instead of using a plug-in

When viewing the Groups directory, there’s a dynamic navigation to display all public groups, the groups of the logged in user or create a new group. JavaScript is used by BuddyPress to dynamically load the groups list when one of the first two navigation items are clicked.
Above the All groups tab is active and all public groups are displayed. When I click on the “My Groups” tab, here’s what I get with latest WordPress & BuddyPress (and no other plugins).
If the content is not refreshed for you, try to deactivate all your plugins (except BuddyPress), rename the file
/wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.phpto something else if it exists and activate a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-Two. Once done, test again.If the issue is still there, open your browser console to see if there’s a JavaScript error. If so, could you copy its content here?
