I am having a hard time attempting to make my theme buddypress compatible. The only main issue I’m concerned about is the ‘Register’ page. I’m running a mini club for a small group of friends and for some reason buddypress stats and posts will not show up for my theme. I have had no issue before — but it has been a while since I’ve used some of my ancient coding for wordpress. If anyone would have any answers or help, I would be forever in your debt.

None of the registration details are showing up on the page. This goes along with the members profiles and so forth. I’m not sure if anyone will be able to help me, but I thought it would be worth the ask. I’m running WordPress 4.0 & Buddypress Version 2.1.1. Thanks!
Buddypress groups appear to have no page title or meta description.
Asked my theme creator about this issue, he said the theme uses “just uses the wp_title() tag like many other WordPress themes.” – so it’s a buddypress issue, and that it should be handled by an SEO plugin.
Checked with yoast SEO – and although this has been a posted about problem for a long time it seems, either yoast does not care about buddypress, or they just shift the blame to buddypress for not making custom post types available to the plugin. ( github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/1400 )
I checked the forums through searches here, and found some threads similar, but nothing that seems to address the issue outside of a pot/poe file – and not sure that will fix the issue.

and then there is buddydev dot com /buddypress/making-wordpress-seo-plugin-compatible-with-buddypress/
and I am confused as to if any of this is the best method, if this melds with the latest version, and if it even works.
Has anyone come up with a way to truly fix this problem?
I’m setting up a site where I’d like to have a variety of groups that allow registered users who aren’t a member of that group to comment in the group forum.
An example would be someone who was considering getting a cat could post their cat ownership questions in the Cat Group Forum without actually being a member of the Cat Group. Is this possible?
I’m moderately competent at wordpress so I would be happy with suggestions ranging from total solutions to what code to look at modifying. Thanks in advance for any help!
We noticed that error messages generated by the WordPress core, for example when usernames already exist, weren’t being displayed but instead a generic message was being shown.
It appears that bp-members-classes.php -> add_backcompat() is not re-using the $errors sent from wp_insert_user() but is instead creating it’s own $errors object.

Could we suggest that this is added (or similar) going forwards as it is handy to have the correct error messages from WordPress core returned?

It’s Marc, I am an experienced wordpress user but I am not able to upload the Avatar in the extended profile. I am using WordPress 4.0 and Buddypress 2.1.1.
I try it on my VPS and I try it in localhost. In both cases I don’t seem to find the place to upload the picture. In the dashboard – user area there is the option “delete” but I never uploaded the picture. If I try to go on with delete it says “There was a problem deleting the avatar, please try again”.<img src=”http://igludevent.cat/docs/screenshot.png
” alt=”” />I did try to upload pictures when registering with Buddypress Upload Avatar Ajax 1.0.1. But they never get upload. Just during the registering moment it seems to work but then they don’t exist.
I don’t know if it is about permissions but I can upload pictures in the media gallery.
I tried changing the theme (which is wp-bootstrap) but the same thing happens. Here there is a screenshot.Please, tell me what can I do to fix it or if I am doing something wrong.

short question: Is there an intended way as an Admin to change the Avatar of a user? Cannot find any clue within Profile or Extended Profile. Neither on the Site, nor in the network admin…
If not, is there any plugin that enables me to do so? Haven’t found one in the Plugin Repo till now.
Any help appreciated 🙂

I have already checked member-header.php and the item-header div and content is all there with the following line:

</h2>I have tried different shortcodes where the ”echo bp_get..” is now, but nothing works.
My page also gives an error when you do inspect element and it says syntax error on that particular line of html.Can’t find how to get the username back, not sure what I changed so that it stopped showing..
I run wordpress 4.0 and version 2.1.1 of buddypress. The website is hosted on my own vps.

Topic: New Users Can't Register
Running WordPress 4.0 with Buddypress 2.1.1 and have switched to default 2014 theme with no other plugins activated. This is on a local dev server (MAMP), which I am running on a late 2013 iMac.
What’s happening, as many other users seem to have described, is that when I log out and try to register as a new user, I go through the Registration process, hit Submit, and the page refreshes with all my info still entered into the fields except for the password. It does not give me any sort of error message. When I log back in and check under All Users, I can see that the registration didn’t work because the user I just attempted to register doesn’t exist.
Have tried numerous other solutions that I’ve found around the net, including checking for capital letters in file names and making sure that new users can register. Nothing is working for me yet.
