Hi,
My site runs on WordPress latest version + buddypress + bbpress.

I am trying to set up forums for main site -support purpose and group forums. The issue is,how can I separate them? I want to display them individually on separate pages.

Also,I dnt knw what happen to permalink structure. All forums are listed here= http://bloggerindustry.com/forums/ But I wanted to display only suport forum and hide group forum on this link.

Then take a look here,
When I click an topic on the link mentioned above the link structure shows up is

http://bloggerindustry.com/forums/forum/billing/

I dnt know how to remove that /forum/ in between.

Please help me to set up Support forum and Group forum separately.

Hi @kypto

Are you using a contact form plugin? You’ll need one because contact form functionality doesn’t come in WordPress or BuddyPress core.

To add a member’s name and email to the form data is easy (ish) but you’ll need a contact form in place first.

At this stage, only security fixes are being done on the BP Default theme so you’d be missing out on the enhancements/improvements added onto the new BP templates which are rendered inside regular WP theme pages as you found out using Twenty Fourteen theme. Check out https://github.com/modemlooper/Buddy-Default where modemlooper has ported the BP Default theme as a regular WP theme, i.e., you could use it with or without BP activated.

I have 2 sites: a Buddypress site: http://www.mydomain.com/buddypress

and a WP site: http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress.

And I want to merge the single WordPress site with Buddypress.

Please need instructions or is there a plugin that can make this happen?

Hi, i’m new using wordpress+buddypress. Here is my problem encountered, when i create a selectbox in admin users->profile fields there is no option for selectbox label. How can i differentiate the selectbox value from label?

Hi all, I am new to BuddyPress and just started using WordPress. I recently decided to create a new website for a small group of friends and I just enjoy creating stuff like this. I had been using just a phpBB forum for the past 2 years for the same group.

I am running WordPress 3.9.1 and BuddyPress 2.0.1 on BLueHost.com. My website is http://www.domanygames.com. While trying to choose a forum I had first picked BuddyPress (which I should have stayed with) then I tried bbpress so I deactivated BuddyPress and removed all the pages it had automatically created. Moving back to BuddyPress, and reinstalling it, I had to manually create the pages it previously made for me. I am only mentioning this in case this may be a cause of the issue below.

Some of the pages, like the Profile page below are not formatting. There is HTML as the header and in this case I am logged into the site yet none of my information is here? I have tried removing BuddyPress and then adding it back in more than once and nothing is fixing this. Again excuse my lack of experience in this. I am learning as I go.

We are experiencing a problem with the group email subscription plugin which doesn’t seem to be sending any emails when people reply to a forum topic. We are utilizing an SMTP account over SSL to send our emails through.

I can go into the admin and in the WP-Mail SMTP plugin settings send a test mail which I get.

I get group invitation emails, and forgot password emails.

I’ve tried switching between SMTP and just php mail() in the settings, that doesn’t seem to work.

Our email status is: All Email

I’m sending to two different email services (outlook.com and a personal account on a Dreamhost server)

Any other suggestions on things to look at or try? I’m delving into the code to see if there’s something else going on.

We are using the following setup:

bbPress – 2.5.1
BP Group Documents – 1.5
BuddyPress – 1.8.1
BuddyPress Group Email Subscription – 3.4
BP Group Documents – 1.5
WP-Mail-SMTP – 0.9.5
wordpress 3.7.1

Hi,

I have a custom theme for Buddypress. Currently the WP admin bar shows for admin users, but no others.
I would like all users to be able to use the admin bar so they can access their activity, notifications, settings etc

Is this normal for Buddypress to only show the admin bar to admins? or have I somehow done something to hide it from non-admins?

It’s not a theme problem because I tried it with other themes and had the same problem.

Can anyone help?

bp-custom.php –> 2 redirect functions for login and logout

Novice here… this should be fun. (July 2014)

I got someone to import users in to my sweetdate (2.6.1)/buddypress (2.5.4) site. The users are there in the WordPress users, but not in the Buddypress site. They don’t even show up in the Pending Activation. I can see them in the SQL Database.

How can I migrate them in to the Buddypress members, searchable, database.

Hello,

I’m actually using WordPress 3.9.1 and BuddyPress 2.0.1.

I would like to set a condition where : if current user is a member of the group X, then I display Y content. I would like to do this outside of the buddypress loop.

How can we know if the current user is in a group and in which group he is?

I have been receiving this message:

The following active BuddyPress Components do not have associated WordPress Pages: Activate, Register. Repair

I have posted on wordpress and they sent me to buddypress. I looked in the past forums but it seemed in the past this was fixed by the “wizard” which is not in use anymore. I am using bluehost and have done all my downloading through them with this being the only problem
Any advice on how to fix this?

I’m guessing you have an older plugin that you want to support with the newer theme compatibility standard.

Since you’re referencing bp_core_load_template( 'activity/index' ) in your example, I’m guessing you are trying to add theme compat for a new slug in the activity directory (eg. example.com/activity/new-slug/)? If so, you’ll want to copy the following code, rename the class and change a few things, so it is applicable to your plugin:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.0.1/bp-activity/bp-activity-screens.php#L301

Then you would load up your new class with the bp_core_load_template() call.

@mercime as mentioned in my original post I’m running locally using MAMP. I’ve done 3 clean installs first deleting then redownloading & installing both WordPress & BuddyPress.

Totally stumped & frustrated.

I have wasted too much time on this.. If you could help me that would be great.

I am creating buddypress compatible theme. Everything works fine but these two buttons for groups are not displaying. It works on wordpress default theme. I added a string to check conditions and its fine and displaying string but these buttons are no where in html

that I’m using the BuddyPress default theme

@lorns Change to the Twenty Fourteen theme.
Strange that you could see and activate to the BP Default theme in a new installation http://bpdevel.wordpress.com/2013/11/13/the-future-of-the-bp-default-theme/

But if I act as a new user, I cannot register using the BuddyPress register page.

Please make sure that you’re logged out first before going to the register page. If you were logged out, do give steps or more information to replicate the issue.

Hi,

I’m trying to display a list of users.

If I access the file wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/members-loop.php in a browser, I get the error Fatal error: Call to undefined function do_action() in wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/members-loop.php on line 14

If I copy-paste the code from this page http://codex.buddypress.org/developer/loops-reference/the-members-loop/ in a wordpress page, I get nothing displayed.

Only the page “members” created by the buddypress install works.

Please, what am I missing ?

Hey there! I’m completely new to both WordPress and BuddyPress and was hoping I could get some help! I’m trying to adjust some of aspects of the posting system that comes with BuddyPress.

I’m trying to allow users to only post to others’ profiles a maximum of once a week and show an error message saying they can only post once a week if they try to post more frequently. To be clear, users can post to as many walls as they want (as they can now) but can only post on any one wall only once a week. Posts from previous weeks should be shown further down the page, and should be accessible by clicking on “See older posts” (this is similar to Facebook). Secondly, if the owner of the wall comments on a post on their wall, their comment should be located immediately after the original poster’s comment and should be titled “response”.

Is there any combination of plugins/code that I can use that can help me achieve this? Has anyone try something similar or played around with posting on BuddyPress?

Hello,

I’m actually using WordPress 3.9.1, BuddyPress 2.0.1 et bbPress 2.5.4 .

For my website I have created differents forums for each user group. This forums will directly be displayed in the main menu as submenus.

Is there a way to choose to display each forum submenu ONLY if the user is log in and a members of the group ?

I have found some solution to filter menu by role, but in my case it will be the group that should be used to filter the menus elements.
