Well with WordPress though you have one file, for one page, one the_content, one category or post type query. The way Buddypress works though, to me it is as if it is magically generating pages out of thin air haha.

    Or enable the network:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
    http://wpebooks.com/2010/09/how-to-enable-multisite-in-wordpress/

Then click the “add site” button to make /community/. Activate buddypress there. put your buddypress theme on that blog. Problem solved.

I had similar issues due to a lack of memory on my 1and1 shared hosting.

Buddypress, in single site mode, currently uses about 6.61 mb ( https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-system-health/ ).

I had to remove the suffusion theme, which if i remember correctly used about 4 or 5 mb, replacing it with a customised version of the default theme.

I also removed nextgen (about 2mb?) and other smaller non-essential plugins – am still looking for a replacement for wassup and all in one SEO which both use a lot of memory…

This enabled it to run without error. I still have problems importing images and upgrading plugins which easily use up memory.

    Thank you for reading.

I tried to install BuddyPress as Plugin in my existing WordPress and its working. My problem is the theme is not compatible for BuddyPress. Even though there’s a BuddyPress Template Pack plugin, the theme is useless for BuddyPress. What I need right now is a Premium WordPress Theme compatible with BuddyPress.

I will remove the BuddyPress in my the other folder (community) and will look for the theme instead.

    Thanks for the help!

Hi guys, I have an existing website using WordPress and I just want to have a community and installed BuddyPress in the other folder “e.g. mysitewordpress/community” I was wondering if it is possible to merge the two different installed software?

Really appreciate any help from you guys.

    Thanks!

Google it. Look for a WP plugin. There are a ton of slider plugins. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=slider&sort=

How come RSS breads show an error on my Dashboard? … RSS Error for getting WordPress Developemtn Blog, Other WordPress News, and in the plugin and Theme area, I can ‘t access those objects.

Any idea how to fix it.

I have the latest of both Buddypress and WordPress in place. I did not add any new plugins since before it broke.

Looks like cubepoints is the cause but not 100% sure. I do not see anything new after disable.

Can’t really compare the two ‘cuz they have completely different products. For instance, WPMUdev is geared mainly toward WordPress with BP as an afterthought, while BuddyDev caters pretty much exclusively to users of BP.

I can’t even locate the file that tells each page what activity it is calling. Would it really make it more clunky? WordPress itself is really straight forward and doesn’t seem clunky.

    Hi

I saw this this newish plugin mentioned over on the bbPress forums and was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting it to work with buddypress? Or alternativly if anyone has any ideas on what would be involved in getting it to work with BP.

    Here is a link http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-last-topics/
    Thanks in advance!

Solved my issue. It turned out to be related to directory permissions, and pilot error in not noticing my user avatar directory chmod changed to 755 when overwritten from a local > remote upload. Avatar directories have to be write-enabled for avatars to display… Hope this helps someone.

Scrap that. The fix is only superficial. It fixed user avatars, but destroyed every other type.

@berseck, glad you solved this on your own. “The problem was on the SQL statement I added invisible users and had one comma extra at the end of this info.” — Wouldn’t have thought of that just reading through your post :-)

Hi thanks. I discovered that themes with the Nav bar along the top with the link to groups gets you to the Create Group site. However, there is still no link to create groups in the Bar along the very top of the page which has all the links and access to your Dashboard etc. You can check http://ordinaryjoe.ca/endthemadness/

Also when using the BP Compatibility Plugin on a standard wordpress site, it says you have to change the html structure of some template files such as blogs/index.php and groups/index.php etc. It is supposed to have this structure..
By default BuddyPress templates use this HTML structure:

    [HEADER]

    [PAGE CONTENT]

    [FOOTER]

If BuddyPress pages are not aligned correctly then you will need to modify some of the templates to match your theme’s HTML structure. The best way to do this is to FTP to your theme’s files at:

    /home/ordinar5/public_html/endthemadness/wp-content/themes/citizen-kane/

Can you advise on how to do this?

    Thanks,
    Don

Ok I got it working… its showing all my users

Only need to fix the search now that is going to a error page when should return to the main page

The problem was on the SQL statement I added invisible users and had one comma extra at the end of this info.

Thanks for those who at least readed this

I’ve been having vanishing avatar issues over the past couple of days, and a little research points to a possibility that in some instances BP is generating bad avatar paths, not relative to the root of the site. I found this, it provided a fix, and might help some of you: http://theandystratton.com/2010/buddypress-avatars-not-displaying-with-wordpress-3-0/

    Hello everybody,

I’m having some issues while using buddypress
My BP version is: Version 1.2.3 I know its old but we changed some stuff on the core so I cannot update this anymore…

I had one site called for example: http://www.mybuddy.com
And with the new feature of wordpress 3.0.4 I enable the feature for multisite insite my site

    So I got this
    fr-ca.mybuddy.com
    for french site and
    en-us.mybuddy.com
    for English american website
And off course my main site http://www.mybuddy.com

Everything is running fine and clear no problems were found… until I tried to access members page
Usually I do http://www.mybuddy.com/members and I go to members list without any problems or errors
But when I try to fr-ca.mybuddy.com/members I get the error page:
Error 404 – Page not Found
The page you were looking for could not be found.

    Same for en-us subsite

What I need to do to make this work??? remembering that all 3 websites are related to the same theme nothing has changed.
I only changed the translation and the content for it
Users are all avalible to all subdomains and main site.

    What I need to do?

By any change anyone had this problem before??

    I tried to create one template that include(“members/index.php”);
But when I do this I get this error: No Results Found

Like if there is no users at all… and there is more than 10 mil users on this site…

    Thanks,
    Thiago

    WP3.0.4

I’m having the same problem. I thought BuddyPress was working, but just found out that any time anyone else clicks Log In it just brings them back to the front page and does nothing.

    I’m using the Platform Theme
    I have GoDaddy Hosting

    Plugins Installed:

    Akismet
    BuddyPress
    BuddyPress Group Email Subscription
    BuddyPress Links
    Buddypress Sitewide activity widget
    BuddyPress Template Pack
    CubePoints
    CubePoints Buddypress Integration
    Google XML Sitemaps
    Wickett Twitter Widget

    Wow. Epic reply. Thanks TJ.

BP Gallery is one I’ve just looked at. Looks the ‘biz.

EventPress didn’t play ball with my version of WordPress. ‘Events Manager’ did and looks good.

I’m moving from Ning to BP and just wanted to check it could do most things Ning could :)

Thanks again for your help here.

    Hi All

I am currently using the Jooc theme for Buddypress, WordPress 3.0.4 and Buddypress 1.2.7. Its my first post on this site so sorry if I am in the wrong section.

The admin bar (the bar at the top with all the links to my account, dashboard and notifications) on the Jooc theme doesn’t seem to appear and it never appeared from the start but it does appear in the wp-admin section just not on any of the pages. I have tried changing the css and editing the remove actions in functions.php but havn’t got it work. Any help would be greatly appreciated in trying to get the admin bar to appear for this theme.

    Thanks

P.S I know the basics but not an expert coder person
