    I’m using the “Another wordpress classifieds plugin” and it creates a TAB in buddypress to access the classifieds. Is there anyway to tell wordpress/buddypress that for some newly created pages do not create a TAB?

    I have the forum extras plugin and the widgets display great on any page with in the buddypress system. They appear perfectly in the members side bar. However widgets such as “forum index” or “latest topics won’t appear on any pages outside of buddypress created pages.

    Please see:
    http://thefertilityblogs.com
    The widget does not show at all on the main page, nore in the left hand colum of interior pages. If you head to a buddypress page such as groups, youll see the forum index widget shows up there.

    I have other widgets enabled on the main page, related to buddypress that show up just fine.

    What could be the problem here?

    Thanks

    You can disable Gravatars! Perhaps you should put in some effort to research the subject. I have disabled it on many sites that I’ve built. I won’t lie to you, I’m not a fan of gravatar because the actual gravatars look cheap and tacky.

    This plugin is the most effective and easiest way of disabling gravatar. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/disable-user-gravatar/ It says its only compatible up to WP 2.8.6 but I’m using it on 3.0.1 ;)

    There is Private rss plugin that uses authentication https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/private-rss/ (Not sure how it would work for groups)

    My workaround was to set the WP time zone to UTC, comment out my ini_`set(‘date.timezone’, ‘Pacific/Honolulu’);` in wp-config.php and empty the WordPress cache. I don’t particularly like this move, however.

    If you use Buddypress Template Pack and upgrate Buddypress to 1.2.6 and decide to update the template files that Template Pack copied into your WordPress Template directory with the updated 1.2.6 bp-default template files, things will break in your WordPress/Buddypress site. Add Friend and Send Private Message buttons will disappear (and maybe other things break as well.)

    Anyway.. I found a way to fix Buddypress Template Pack (which has not been updated since February, by the way.)

    Copy and paste over some of the items from functions.php in the bp-default theme into the bb-template-pack.php file in the Buddypress Template Pack plugin folder.

    On line 35 of bb-template-pack.php I changed bp-js to dtheme-ajax-js

    Then I pasted in everything from line 24 through 36 in functions.php in the bp-default theme functions.php and pasted it into bp-template-pack.php after the bracket } after line 35

    I have compressed a copy of my new bp-template-pack.php if you want it. You can download it here: http://www.hotforwords.com/files/bp-template-pack.zip

    Susan, I know this is old news, but I use Private BuddyPress:

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/private-buddypress/

    It protects BP pages that are not protected by WishList.

    I am having trouble with the title tags on my main page. My blog content is on the home page and whenever I post a new blog the title tag changes to the title of the new posted blog. I would like the title tag on the home page just to say “My Site”

    I’ve tried changing information in SeoPress to no avail. :-(

    Using:
    WordPress 3.0.1
    BuddyPress 1.2.5.2
    SeoPress 1.0.2

    I recently installed WP under my localhost on my comp. When I try to download BP via the WP plugin tab, I receive this message: “Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in C:wampwwwwordpresswp-includesclass-http.php on line 1060.” Does anyone know what this means?

    Good to know you figured it out!
    BuddyPress has forced me to learn a lot more about WordPress as well. A win-win!

    @nuprn1 @r-a-y Just a little update,

    Finally got around to it, actually the lastest Buddypress update kinda forced me to and it worked like a charm. I had to educate my self on wordpress’s apply_filters and add_filters.

    I wrote a custum function that filtered the results of the groups_get_groups function, basically removing my “handy dandy” code from the core files into my cutome plugin class file. Thanks for all your help.

    Often enough I might feel like changing the defined slugs, and/or maybe I’ll move the project to another domain. But this usually screws up all the links that are recorded in the activity stream since they’re saved as HTML in the database.

    I thought I’d share my way of keeping my activity stream free of broken links. The RegEx for the replace might be lacking, but it works for me. I haven’t tested it on all domains.

    `function mytheme_bp_insert_activity_meta( $content ) {
    global $bp;
    // Extend the array with the slugs you need to replace
    $slug_replace = array(
    ‘members’ => BP_MEMBERS_SLUG,
    ‘groups’ => BP_GROUPS_SLUG
    );
    foreach( $slug_replace as $old_slug => $new_slug ) {
    $content = preg_replace( ‘/(/’ . $old_slug . ‘/)/i’, ‘/’ . $new_slug . ‘/’, $content );
    }

    $content = preg_replace( ‘/(http://[a-z0-9.]+/(wordpress/)?)/’, $bp->root_domain . ‘/’, $content );

    return $content;
    }
    add_filter( ‘bp_insert_activity_meta’, ‘mytheme_bp_insert_activity_meta’ );`

    Just thought I should share! I post other WordPress-related tips on my blog http://wpquicktips.wordpress.com/. Maybe you will find it useful as well!

    @bazonline – You shouldn’t have much trouble then. Just activate bp-default on the community blog only and not on all the blogs. If you’re just having problem with the page ``, go into your community blog’s general settings and change the blog title:<br /> <a href="https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_General_SubPanel" rel="nofollow ugc">https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_General_SubPanel</a></p> <p><a href="https://buddypress.org/community/members/aweathers/" rel="nofollow ugc">@aweathers</a> – Like I said, you need to modify the header.php file in your child theme to call the main site’s header image. Calling the main site’s header image requires a little bit of PHP coding. Or if you know you’re never going to change the header image, just hardcode the image URL into header.php.

    I have the same config as Falcon Show – WordPress – 3.0.1 and BuddyPress – 1.2.5.2

    I couldn’t figure out where the option “user cannot delete itself” is, either in buddypress/wordpress dashboard. Can you please tell me where can I find this option? ( I am using default BuddyPress theme). Thanks.

    /** Absolute path to the WordPress directory. */
    if ( !defined(‘ABSPATH’) )
    define(‘ABSPATH’, dirname(__FILE__) . ‘/’);

    Hi,

    There is a new plug-in called WP Record IP. it works fine in WordPress, but when I use it in BuddyPress it does not work. would you please help me out?
    I think the problem is in Actions.

    Download Link:
    http://www.box.net/shared/u8gy4rxxya

    == Description ==

    This is simple yet useful plug-in to keep and record users IPs on login time. If your site has membership
    feature and you need to have close control on users behavior then this plug-in may come handy as it really is for me!

    It’s not really possible to have multiple BuddyPress networks running from the same WordPress installation (though it might be possible some day down the road). Your users will have to be satisfied with their own groups, or they’ll have to install BuddyPress on their own WP installation.

    Out of the box, BuddyPress only lets you send group invitations to people you’re friends with. It’s a spam prevention measure. If you want to bypass it, install Invite Anyone https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/invite-anyone/.

    a cheap/simple method: if they share the same db – you could setup each wordpress instance to the same custom_user_tables

    i changed it and now it works
    BUT
    the doubled url problem when hovering each post’s title is still there
    any ideas?
    thanks

    BuddyPress supports forums via the bbPress forum script. It does not offer native SMF import support.

    You might be speaking of the BuddyPress SMF Import plugin:
    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-smf-import/

    If you haven’t tried it already, give it a shot.

    Running Rockettheme Affinity 1.2 for BP 1.2.6 on WP 3.0.1

    All of my BP 1.2.5 sites’ log out links work well using the fixes in trac 3142 ( http://trac.buddypress.org/changeset/3142 ). Now, I just upgraded to 1.2.6, and the issue has returned…

    When members log out from the admin bar, they remain logged in. On a second attempt to log out, WordPress gives them a message asking if they want to log out.

    Anyone else having this issue?

    :) Eric
