ParticipantHi @Kansas3d – Did you have any luck with a solution? the BP User Accounts Type Pro site is still under maintenance. The plugin looks ideal, but the support of it not so much.
Any ideas – thanks

Participant@barronlau “Blog Details: I’d like to add new site” shows up for multisite installations if you did not remove that option for a user to create a blog in your site.
Go to My Sites > Network Admin > Dashboard. Then go to Settings > Network Settings –> Registration Settings, then only choose User accounts may be registered.
To customize what’s going to show up on your registration https://codex.buddypress.org/user/buddypress-components-and-features/extended-profiles/

@mercime
Participant@daniel-alonso could be that your page title is not within the WP loop. Appending /create to the groups directory URI will help you get to the Groups Create page. e.g. example.com/groups to example.com/groups/create
Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can add the code to your My Account section of the WP Toolbar https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1838

You need to go to dashboard/settings/general and click anyone can register. Then you can create a new test account and in either a different browser or chromes incognito window go to the site and log in with the test account credentials.June 29, 2013 at 5:52 am #167165In reply to: Buddypress and S2 member Activity problem

ParticipantOk thank You I will try and let you know.
What I am trying to accomplish is this. I created couple of categories by membership levels (1,2,3). I restricted those categories in S2 members options so only user that have certain level of membership can see posts in those category.
Now problem is, when I create post for example for category level 3, everyone (all levels) can see that post in activity stream, that is what I am trying to remove. Posts don’t need to be in activity stream at all, or just to remove activity stream from account that I am making those posts.
June 28, 2013 at 7:09 pm #167129In reply to: Create Group
@mercime
Participant@mgrmn There should be a “Create a Group” button beside the page title in the Groups Directory page. https://codex.buddypress.org/user/buddypress-components-and-features/groups/#groups-directory
If the “Create a Group” button doesn’t show up in your theme, that’s because the_title tag of page template is not within the WordPress loop. To resolve this issue, you can create your own link to the Create Groups page, just append /create to the URL of your groups directory page
e.g.
groups page -> http://example.com/groups
groups create page -> http://example.com/groups/createAlternatively, if you prefer, you can instead add the patch to include the groups/create link in BP MyAccount section of the WP Toolbar https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1838 – coming out in BP 1.8

Henry
MemberI’m not 100% sure this will resolve the issue but try deleting your avatar and then uploading a new one.
BuddyPress may have ‘crunched’ the image on upload (it may have created a full size image and also a much smaller thumb image). It is possible that it is still serving your old ‘very small’ thumbnail image at the bigger 192×192 size which will account for why it looks like it does.

Participant@mercime thank you for your help!
I’ll have a closer look at this plugin and ask the developer if there something not possible.
Thanks

@mercime
Participant@kansas3d there are instructions on the link I gave you and for more assistance with the plugin, you should ask the developer. Looks like what you need is in the PRO version at http://rimonhabib.com/buddypress-user-account-type-pro-has-been-released/ but link to the shop shows it’s under maintenance. Other than that, you’d need a developer to create the plugin for you and would cost more than what the plugin could cost.

ParticipantThank you mercime for your response!
I really appreciate it.I tried that plugin already and it’s not bad.
I’m just not sure how to realise two different user profile pages.
The yshould look different and have different tabs and fields.One user should be free the other one should have a monthly fee.
Do you know how to realise that?
Thank you a lot

ParticipantI am using MAMP. When I installed the plugin I set the register page to a new blank sign up page. when I installed the plugin there was no register or activate page created, that’s why I changed the setting to a new page. If I navigate to that page the site appears but there is no sign up or account registration form. It’s just a blank page.
I am using the responsive theme and I would try using another theme to see if it works, however, I deleted the bb plugin to try reinstalling but now can not. I just receive this error –
“An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”
Thanks for the help

Do you know how to go to dashboard/pages/all pages/register? At the top of that page the title says Register just change that to Sign Up. At the top right corner of that same page click screen options and click the box beside of Slug. Now scroll down below the page body and you will see a text field labelled Slug. Change that from register to sign-up and click the blue Update button. Done!Spam Killer is not in the WP Repo you need to download it from the github link I provided then go to dashboard/plugins/add new, and where it says Install Plugins you will see upload below that. Select upload and browse to where you saved the Spam Killer plugin on your hard drive. Click Install Now then activate it. There is no settings just activate it and forget it. If you search the HTML source after you activate the plugin you will see the hidden field the plugin created just like below:
<div style="display: none;"><input type="text" name="are_you_a_spammer" id="rejected" /></div>Private Community For BP basically makes all BP related pages private and redirects the user to the page you want. Read the instructions in the readme.txt You will have to follow the same procedure listed for Spam Killer for getting, installing, and activating the plugin.
I have tried to make these instructions as clear as possible. Make sure to read the readme.txt in the plugins because the instructions are for fairly novice users. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Participant@dice2dice
You can change the register page name and slug to sign-up.
You can also try using Private Community For BP:
You will also need to change line 27 in private-community-for-bp.php from /register to /sign-up to reflect the change of the register slug.
If your not using it you can get it here:
https://github.com/bphelp/private_community_for_bp
Another thing you can try is this small plugin “Spam Killer” which creates a hidden field humans can’t see, spam-bots will see it and fill it out and get a message indicating spammy behavior and it rejects their registration. Get it here:
https://github.com/bphelp/bp-spam-killer
Please read the readme.txt for complete instructions for usage for both plugins.June 4, 2013 at 7:21 pm #165375In reply to: Can't delete plugins

ParticipantThanks for the reply @mercime. Not multisite, and I’m admin but not super admin. I’ve disabled the “Members” plugin to no avail. Did not create any other admin-type accounts. This is the error I get when I attempt to delete a plugin:
“Plugin could not be deleted due to an error: Could not fully remove the plugin(s) plugin.php.”
The reason I think it’s the server is I’ve been having a terrible time trying to get the RSS feeds to work. No plugin works at all, and the WP feeds on my dashboard only display:
“RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: couldn’t connect to host”
“RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Failed to connect to 2607:f8b0:4006:803::1014: Network is unreachable”Additionally, I am unable to connect to download new plugins or themes from the dashboard. We recently moved to a Linux server as our Windows server was acting all wonky. Is this the root of the problem, and do you have any advice on what the super admin can do to change it? We’re totally stuck.

@mercime
Participant@akukskuks Never seen it myself before. Are you on a multisite installation? Are you the super admin of that multisite installation or just the site admin of a subsite? Do you have any membership plugin which could have caused conflict? Did you create/delete another site/super admin account?
June 4, 2013 at 6:15 pm #165372In reply to: Installing Buddypress
@mercime
Participantbut when I click in settings (account, profile or create group) gives error. The system returned with inexistent page
@tuliodc not quite clear. You mean you go to dashboard Settings > BuddyPress > Components/Pages/orSettings and when you click on some sections, you go to a 404 page?I saw that buddypress should work with bbpress, is true?
My question is, what plugins I should install
I recommend that before you install other plugins, double-check that your BP install is in good working condition – e.g. registration ok, can create groups, can add friends, delete activity stream item, etc. If all OK, then read compatibility version, reviews and support forum topics of that plugin to check if plugin is supported and/or updated to latest BP/WP versions.

Participantunfortunately it’s not working, I created a clone of the site, moved the site to a new server, switched off all plugins and used twenty twelve theme, I’m logged in at the site here:
rns.the-colab.com
Even when logged in, with the group as a public group, the feeds don’t work
The feeds sometimes work and sometimes don’t work, sometimes give incorrect mimetype messages, sometimes just says the feed might be down.I had this problem on 2 servers, logged in or not, public groups or not etc etc
The feeds are reportedly working on external sites but not on my own sites with buddypress running. When I put the feeds into feed validators it says
I created a subscriber account here

KeymasterActivity component doesn’t support anonymous comments or behaviour; it wasn’t built with that in mind. Per Juan’s suggestion above, you could create a fake user account and write code to assign comments to that user, but… sounds hacky 🙂
