Dumb question, but is bbpress the same thing as buddypress? Will the bbp shortcodes work on Buddypress? Without a plugin? We have seen other references that [bc-…] are shortcodes for BuddyPress, where as [bbp-…] is for BBpress.

Use case: We’re trying to have our own login page and hide the WordPress bar for non-admin users. The login does not need to be a WordPress.com login for our purposes.

Hey thanks @robin-w 🙏

Just wanted to confirm that your plugin linked above does works, out of the box, in the Visual editor box, and also in bbpress forums as well as in buddypress.

Nice!

I have the same issue also, and have for a while. I’m using BuddyPress and bbPress. I also have a bit of custom code, but I don’t *think* it should affect the [x]. I see that no one appears to be getting an answer about this, but I just though I’d chime in 🙂

I am using bbPress and BuddyPress within my site, BuddyPress for accounts/profiles and bbPress for forums. When a user comments on the site, it is displayed on the topic and within the user’s profile in their activity stream, which is great. However, when the user deletes their comment/reply (within the topic that the reply was made), it is not deleted in their profile and can still be seen. This is also the case if the user deletes their comment/reply from within their profile.

It seems as though bbPress and BuddyPress are not syncing with one another. Are there any fixes for this issue?

Hi,

We have a website with bbPress and BuddyPress installed. We used groups in BuddyPress where “participants” can write and send messages in those groups.

Is it possible to add a moderation into those groups ? I mean when i user write something it doesn’t appears in the group right after submitting but the admin has to approve it before.

Dear Buddypress,

Our theme is based on Eduma (Education Learning Management System) and our main plugin is Learnpress.

Upon installing Buddypress and bbpress, this is how the page of the Activity looks like. Why does it look so ugly [1] https://ibb.co/xsBtK27?

Why can I have this look [2] https://ibb.co/XDxYrx3 instead?

Is this [1] a newest version? is there anyway to improve the default looks?

Thank you. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regards,
Josh

hi

I use bbpress+buddypress
member -> forums is can see a list of the created topics.

My information (list of my topics) does not have any problem with page changes,
Another user’s topic list has a problem.

I’ll explain the details
First, the place I’m talking about is the forum menu on the profile page.
ref to this image link : https://ibb.co/xs3Bbkx

my topic’s list page 2,3,4 url address is
ez) http://site_url/member/MYID/forums/topics/page/3/

ref to this image link : https://ibb.co/KxSJtby

my topic list is no problem, it’s ok

however other user’s topic list occur problem
The first page is fine
ref to this image link : https://ibb.co/FHzp84n

but page 2,3,4,… is 404 error occur

url address is
http://site_url/member/%5BOTEHR_USER_ID%5D/page/2/

ref to this image link : https://ibb.co/Dpf6hty

So if I directly enter the address as below, it will be displayed normally.
http://site_url/member/%5BOTEHR_USER_ID%5D/forums/topics/page/2/

ref to this image link : https://ibb.co/NnznmQT

There seems to be a problem in the URL address conversion process(be my guess)

I really need help to solve this problem

Best Regards,

There seems to be no German translation for the “notification-description”.

“You have 1 new reply to [topic] from [user]”

And I can´t find a way to add a translation with the plugins “Loco Translate” (https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/loco-translate/) or “Say What?” (https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/say-what/), too. That works perfectly in other cases, but not in this one.

Wordpress 5.6
BuddyPress 7.1.0
bbPress 2.6.6
Loco Translate 2.5.0
Say What? 1.9.6

Hi All,

I’ve just installed BuddyPress, bbPress and BuddyX with the BuddyX child theme. When I click on the “RSS” feed button (which I don’t even particularly need for the record), it brings me to a broken link site point to BuddyPress:

Title: “https://www.medsupplynetwork.com/activity/feed/”
Body: “

MedSupply Network | Site-Wide Activity

https://www.medsupplynetwork.com/activity/</link>

Activity feed for the entire site.

https://buddypress.org/?v=7.3.0</generator>

<iframe src=”https://app.zoominfo.com/reachout-pixel/track?app=DOZI&url=https://www.medsupplynetwork.com/activity/feed/” id=”reachout__pixel” frameborder=”0″ scrolling=”no” style=”width:1px; height:1px; display: block”/>

”

I have no idea what’s going on with this…
Also, a couple of questions:
1.) Do I need to install rtMedia directly?
2.) Do BuddyPress and BuddyX work together directly?
I know the developer of BuddyX is a BuddyPress (or former – not sure?) developer of BuddyPress – but I want to make sure that everything is in sync and I’m not using BuddyBoss b/c it appears that BuddyBoss and BuddyPress are not 100% in sync with each other.

I’m aiming to create a social networking website for healthcare profesionals and medical suppliers in the safest (technical) way possible – and I’ve built this using Linux Ubuntu + NGINX + MYSQL + PHP 7.4-fpm + AWS EC2 (and route 53 elb asg’s etc.).

any help woudl be greatly appreciated!

Sorry to offend shanebp. After being a member for 10 years and graciously learning from others, this has only been the 3rd question I have actually asked here.
As I had mentioned above which I don’t think you may had read, I did reach out to their support team and it was futile. I am very aware this is not BuddyBoss support

Because the BuddyPress platform is built from BuddyPress code I just it may be logical and harmless to ask.

My question was “Does anyone know any way to enable WP Shortcodes in buddypress/bbpress topics? At least for Admins.

I only mentioned BuddyPress Platforms because on one of the sites I currently administer, it uses that.
But by and large, the question was geared towards BuddyPress not BuddyBoss.

I can understand the frustration it may bring to see how many times people have confused BuddyPress with BuddyBoss, but I am not one of them

https://buddypress.org/support/search/buddyboss/
Over 25 pages and counting.

So mea Culpa,I’m just hoping to find answers that would work in BuddyPress with the hope that it would work that BuddyBoss Platform and I can get some rest from these folks.

Thank you

Hello,

Does anyone know any way to enable WP Shortcodes in buddypress/bbpress topics? At least for Admins.
There are some plugins such as Quizzes and Polls that provide shortcode that can be easily added/started into a topic where a widget won’t work or is called for.
I understand that it can be a security concern for just any user to have the ability, but if it was limited to Mods, Admins and Content Providers it would great.

I did find that GD bbPress tools DOES work (lets you have the function to use any shortcode in topics ) if you initially have it installed prior to installing BuddyPress Platform BUT if you have any other customization or toggles you had enabled on GS bbPress prior to the the BuddyPress install, you are STUCK to what it was set on because I found that BiddyPress Platform locks you out of the config for GD bbpress leaving you to keep as is or removing GD bbpress tools all together. Unfortunately I had to remove it because I did not want one of the settings I previously added. Don’t bother trying to re-install it. It won’t work.
I found another plugin, bbPress – Do Short Codes – it is abandoned and hasn’t been updated in years but it worked. The problem here was, there was some code in that for some reason clashed with the Buddypress mailbox.

So in all, I know it can be done and it can work but I am hoping I can find one that works with Buddypress Platform or at least without issue.
I did reach out to Buddypress Platform tech support and the person who was helping basically closed the ticket regarding the inbox not working as soon as I figured out it was the plugin.
When asked about shortcodes in topics I was told it was not a feature. O-K.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi everybody,
I would like to display the exifs data on the jpg uploaded on my bbpress forum. Actually, I use exify on google chrome to do that. And I would integrate the same function to the forum bbp. Which file do I modify?(All my pictures are uploaded with exif data). Or do you know a plug-in to do that. I have already tested Exifography, exif viewer, …) But They don’t have this option, it’s only for the gallery not for a forum.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I’m getting the tag auto-added to the last email address in a BuddyPress message. It didn’t tag anyone as a user, it just added this class automatically to a surrounding span tag.

Is there anyway to stop this behavior? Or at least recognize that a @username =/= an@email.addy ?

Thank you for any help in the right direction!

ps. I also commented on an old thread over here on bbpress and thanks to mod @robin-w for pointing me over here!

I use Buddypress and Bbpress togather.

But when a member tags another member in the forums, it comes in their notifications with the link to view the mention. But, clicking on that takes them to the newsfeed/activity stream, not the forum post that they were tagged in.

Anyone for a solution ?

Thanks.

I’m trying to understand if there will be an issue with using BuddyPress groups and SEO. From my reading on SEO the closer a page is to the main domain the better. For example, if I have a forum topic about Butterflies and I was just using bbPress the URL would be:

MySite.com/forum/topics/butterflies/

The page “butterflies” would be two jumps away from MySite.com

But if I use the feature to add my forum inside of a group the URL changes to this:

MySite.com/group/group-name/forums/topics/butterflies/

The page “butterflies” would be four jumps away from MySite.com

I was wondering if anyone knows if using forums inside of BuddyPress will have a negative impact on SEO and if there’s a way around it by having the URL structure different, reducing the number of jumps.

There are a few things I’m not figuring out, and am unable to find in the documentation.

I’ve installed BuddyPress, Theme My Login with the Social extension (to allow logins via Facebook, Twitter, and Google), and bbPress.

The ability to login via any of the above mentioned social media or use the email address as a user name works.

Here is a list of what I’m not figuring out:
– I’m running a theme named Customify, which I do not recall installing. Did it somehow come with BuddyPress (which seems weird) or did I in fact install it and just forgot?
– There is an orange button labeled “BUTTON” that appears to the right of the menu, and within the menu, which slides in from the left side of the screen. It goes to the home page. I’m not seeing how to change the label within this button, but I do see it’s part of the Customify theme.
– I’ve created a forum with bbPress, but when I login as either a user or an administrator, I don’t see it.
– Sometimes when I login I find myself at the users profile page, other times I find myself at the home page. I’m not seeing the pattern as to when one occurs and when the other occurs.

That’s it for now.

If anyone can help steer me in the right direction, I will be most appreciative.

Subsequent edit
As I typed the above, it occurred to me I might see my forum at host.com/forums, which I do.
