    Hello to all.

    i seem to do not understand how this one should work:
    wp 4.9
    bbpress 4.1.0

    We are using Woffice Theme with buddypress.

    User ist member of private group, group has forum, role ist participant. when the user searches for Topics or Replies he does not get any results. Neither with Woffice search bar on top nor with forum search. results show only topics/replies from public group forums.

    Admnistrator/keymaster gets the right results, so it`s technically working. probably a rights problem.

    What am i missing? Shouldn`t that work?

    Thanks in advance

    Can anyone recommend software that takes a stand-alone BuddyPress site, using xprofile files, bbpress, buddydocs etc and transfers it to a Multisite? I was attempting to move it using the All in one WP Migration plugin with the Multi-site extension (paid for) by ServMask, it isn’t working and now ServMask has offered a refund. It is critical that the site be moved into a multisite, doing it manually isn’t an option the site is too extensive.

    Wordpress version 5.1
    BuddyPress version 4.2

    Good Morning,
    I tried putting this up yesterday in the troubleshooting forum and it disappeared. I’m guessing that was the wrong forum. Please let me know if this should be posted elsewhere.

    I have a large standalone BuddyPress site that needs to be migrated to a multisite. The multisite needs to be able to support multiple sites including other BuddyPress sites. I’ve been trying to migrate the existing site via the “All in one WP Migration” & “Multisite extension” Plugins with no success. All non-BuddyPress elements transfer correctly, there seems to be an issue though with BuddyPress Groups Profile images and Xprofile fields. None are correct once migrated. In the dashboard, I can see all the topics, and forums, but no groups. When I look at the profile fields under users there are none. Profile images are there but assigned to the wrong users. I can, however, see the groups and profile fields in the databases. I’ve been in contact with ServMask and they have suggested I reach out to the BuddyPress community. All the users should have access across the network to any of the sub-sites the desire to visit. They may have to request access to some sub-sites and other sites would just be open. The main site will act as a gateway to the sub-sites. I’ve been through the forums, it seems the plugin that would allow what I want to do is no longer supported and the other recommended plugin “BuddyPress Multi Network” hasn’t been updated since 2014. I’m I missing something? My priority is to get the site up with all the data correctly display and then build other sites out. Any help would be appreciated.

    The site uses the latest versions of all these plugins:

    AddToAny Share Buttons

    Long-time lurker on forums of every kind, I think this is my first time posting ever in my time on the internet, so you can tell that I’ve really run out of options :)! To be clear, the most important fact is that I found out that buddypress works with the twenty seventeen theme, but not mine (I did a preview with that theme, and that was when I knew I was in trouble).

    As you can see, I added a top menu for people to register at: http://www.toledonaturalist.org/forums/

    But there is no content on the page. I’ve thought of all sorts of fixes, the most promising of which is either making the twenty seventeen theme just for the forum pages (which is messy) or switching themes entirely. However, I am in grad school and pretty much every hour of my day is spoken for, so I don’t have time to switch themes. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can make this work for my website? We are a nonprofit, and really looking forward to building an online community.

    Also, I’ve only set up the registration page (i.e., linked it to buddypress in the buddypress pages tab), so the login page definitely won’t work if you click on that.

    Hello,

    I’ve searched the internet and this forum in particular for a couple of hours but could not find a proper workaround for this issue:

    As you know, BuddyPress setup works by creating two blank pages – members and groups. If I type in a meta description in Yoast for both and preview the pages, the description text is added to the page header and gets properly displayed in the page source text.

    But as soon as I assign the two pages to the BuddyPress plugin, the description gets stripped completely. In the page source appears an author note that a description needs to be added.

    I could live with that, but I urgently need to make my members page and all its related members profile content invisible to search engines. The severe problem is, that the Yoast settings „noindex, nofollow“ are stripped too.

    The BBpress Forum page is not affected by this issue. Yoast can apply a meta description and the „noindex, nofollow“ command, which is a good thing.

    Can someone please help me out with a solution?

    Thanks in advance,
    Martin

    Is there a way to write a shortcode that can be used by users who enter it into their activity stream? I don’t want them to be allowed to access all of the shortcodes. Just this one.

    Id like to put it in BuddyPress, BBPress, Activity Streams, Groups, etc.

    Thanks

    Hi ! Here’s my problem : when I post something on the wall from a group, the post fails to be published and I just get this message : “Invalid post type”. My website was created 10 days ago and there’s nobody on it (that’s why I was trying to create content) so I don’t know about how this goes for the very few users I have. Kind of a pain, since the posts just completely disappear to let this message appear. I checked my settings and I could not find any parameter controlling some “Post Types”.

    Hi use WP version 5.0.3, installed straight from Softaculous on Siteground, so probably as a directory. Unless the updates are automatic in WordPress, I don’t think I upgraded WP from 5.0.2 since I started creating my site later than the release of the latest version of WP. I had no issues with WP before downloading BuddyPress and I only had one problem after I had : weird display of messages with some code visible in some places of the page. I didn’t get to test much though since the site is very recent. I’m running BuddyPress Version 4.1.0. I didn’t upgrade it since I created the site. I have many plugins activated. Here’s the full list : Antispam Bee; bbp style pack; bbpress Version 2.5.14; BP Better Messages; BuddyDrive; BuddyPress Create Group Types; BuddyPress Follow; BuddyPress Global Search; BuddyPress Member Type Generator; BuddyPress Security Check; Contact Form 7; Events Manager; Flamingo; Footer Putter; GEO my WP; Loginizer; Nested Pages; Orbit Fox Companion; Post Types Order (supposed to deal with order?); SG Optimizer; Sitewide Newsletters; Super Progressive Web Apps; Query Monitor (recently downloaded, after noticing the problem); The GDPR Framework; TranslatePress – Multilingual; Wordfence Security; WP Statistics; Wpworx FAQ; YellowPencil Pro; Yoast SEO; Youzer. I have a few other installed but deactivated plugins. I am using the theme Orfeo by ThemeIsle, a child theme from Hestia if I remember correctly. I didn’t modify the core files and I don’t think I have custom functions.
    I don’t know what system my server is running.

    Thanks in advance ????

    Hello,

    I am trying to figure out how to change/translate some BuddyPress slugs and came across this aging URL:

    Customizing Labels, Messages, and URLs

    At the bottom of the page I followed these instructions, created a bp-custom.php and copied it in wp-content/plugins:

    To change slugs on the sub nav on a member page add these defines to a file bp-custom.php and place this file in /plugins/bp-custom.php

    define( ‘BP_SETTINGS_SLUG’, ‘settings’ );
    define( ‘BP_XPROFILE_SLUG’, ‘profile’ );

    The problem is, if I change the term ‘settings’ to anything else, my profile menu completely disappears and I get a 404 warning.

    Is this code still viable? I have Buddypress and bbPress installed and using a KEO child theme. I am on a tight schedule to launch my site, so any suggestions that help me out are really appreciated.

    Regards,
    Martin

    I have BuddyPress 4.1.0 and bbPress 2.5.14 installed on a WordPress 5.0.3

    I already tried resetting the permalinks. I have not tried disabling and re-enabling all other plugins. I’m hoping it’s a simple fix.

    I am having URL Rewrite issues.
    This URL works and gets me to a page which lists all groups/my groups.
    //example.com/groups/

    For testing, I log in as a user having the wp ‘subscriber’ role who is a member of one of the private groups listed.

    I click on the group to which the user is a member and it takes me here:
    //example.com/groups/regenerative-farming-discussion/forum/

    This is good. This is where I want the user to be. But on this page, the user has the ability to see how many other members are in this group and clicking the ‘members’ button should take the user to a page that lists only the members of that group. When I hover over the members button, the URL that displays is
    //example.com/groups/regenerative-farming-discussion/members/

    but when I click on the members button, the URL I am taken to is
    //example.com/members/

    which is a page that lists ALL the members. NOT what I want.

    Similarly, if I’m logged in as a user and I go to the Members page (//example.com/members/), and I click on a member’s name, I’m taken to the member’s page:
    //example.com/members/member_name/

    I see that this member belongs to 2 groups. I want to know which ones, so I should click on the tab that says “Groups (2)” to see which two groups the person belongs to. When I hover over that tab, the URL displayed is
    //example.com/members/member_name/groups/

    but when I click on it I am taken here instead
    //example.com/groups/

    which lists all the groups. NOT what I want.

    What can I do to fix the errant rewriting of these URLs?

    How can I whitelist a user (or users) so that their posts will never be held for moderation? Is there a plugin or function available?

    I’m using the current versions of WP, buddypress, bbpress, Kleo, on a digitalocean cloud server running the latest versions of Ubuntu, nginx, and MariaDB.

    Hi,

    i’m using bbPress und Buddypress with my Theme Enfold an WooCommerce.

    Everything is fine, but when a want to login to the forum i cam to the Startpage of my Website, not direct into the forum.

    Now i have to navigate to the forum page again to get into.

    Nice would be to be automatically on the forum page after login.

    How can i fix this?

    Am a novice but am using WP 5.03 with Buddypress 4.0 and bbpress 1.5.14. The site is https://908X0.org. It is not live and Registration has been disabled. New users have Subscriber role for buddypress and Participant for Forums. My problem: all new users I have created have the capability to Edit Pages after login. I thought it had something to do with my IP or browser but cleared the browser and sent the link to my site to a friend and he could see the Edit Page text in the admin bar. I disabled every plugin, including bbpress. The bug is still there. I have built an almost identical site that does not have this problem.

    I am not a developer or a coder. I can follow explicit instructions to make changes in the C-panel or elsewhere, but most of the time I just expect things to work like they are supposed to. I can generally find solutions or work-arounds but this one has me stumped. I have been unable to find anything on line about this problem. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this?

    Hello guys,

    I hope you can help. I want to split my Website permanently in 2 parts. The red part on the picture is for the bbpress forums, and the right part is for buddypress. If i press some buttons on buddypress, the other part shouldn´t be affected. So both screens are visible on each page permanently.

    Any ideas?

    Hey, first post here,
    I’m using a WordPress install with MemberPress to manage registrations.

    I then am using bbPress for a forum, and BuddyPress for Profiles, Messaging, etc.

    When a new user registers, a very peculiar thing happens.

    The WP Username and the BuddyPress name, stored in the wp_bp_xprofile_data do not match.
    In some cases, this also becomes imported_{username}.

    In the case where it the BuddyPress name becomes imported_{username} it seems to be associated with bbPress, in this file /plugins/bbpress/includes/admin/converter.php, starting on line 970.

    However, I can’t seem to track down where seemingly random usernames are coming from, and WHY…

    In the example image, if I were to search the database for bobbytaylor5971 the only instance of that string is in the one row in wp_bp_xprofile_data. Correct user_id, wrong value.

    I’ve been trying to figure this out for months, and so far, we’ve just been manually updating each new registered user.

    Any thoughts on this issue?

    Thanks for the help.

All are up to date.
    Wordpress theme is Vogue.
    I’ve not modified the core files in any way that I’m aware of.
    No custom functions that I’m aware of.
    I do not know how to do .php coding.
    I do not have any errors that I am aware of and could not run the check from the tutorial as it didn’t work. Again, do not know .php code.
    Current website has been removed from online and is on a private server/localhost. This will change soon as the new site is finished.
    Windows.
    No BuddyPress theme chosen so maybe default theme selected?
    No idea if I overloaded any buddypress template files.

    Posting above per the “When asking for support” sticky.

    I have two problems. The first is that I don’t have a way for users to create groups using the BuddyPress groups system. I can only create groups manually by selecting “Groups” > “Add New” in the dashboard. I do not wish to cater to 100’s of requests for groups, and would like users to have freedom of creation. “Anyone can register” is selected. “User Groups” is selected.

    As of right now, my site has a “Social” menu option with sub-menu of all the BuddyPress items. If I click on “Groups” in the sub-menu, I DO NOT get an option to create groups. However, if I click on the main menu “Social,” and look at the right side where my “Groups” widget is, I can click on groups, and get a new page that has a “Create New Group” option that allows anyone to create.

    Ok, so why not just add the widget to all the BuddyPress pages? I did. They won’t load. The only way people can add groups is if they go through this widget. Which leads me to my second problem; I am not able to add that widget anywhere else on the website. It will not load on any other of the BuddyPress pages/sub-menu options. In fact, nothing will load.

    This was the result of adding “Content Aware Sidebar” plug-in, because I was not able to get website widgets OFF BuddyPress pages even when selected to be off those specific pages. Now, I have removed my main-site widgets from BuddyPress pages, but can’t get BuddyPress widgets on BuddyPress pages. Boy, I hope that was clear.

    If I remove “Content Aware Sidebar” (or deactivate it), everything goes back to the way it was. Main website widgets that I don’t want on BuddyPress pages will load on BuddyPress pages, but so will the BuddyPress widgets.

    How do I get my BuddyPress widgets to load AND prevent my other widgets from loading on BuddyPress-only pages? Or can I manually insert a “Create Group” link inside the “Groups” page, preferably next to “Invitations” and “Memberships?”

    I believe the problem lies with both the “Content Aware Sidebar” plugin and “Widget Options,” which is the one I used to be able to manually select pages. It worked perfectly until BuddyPress was installed. Now, I can’t get choices over BuddyPress-only widgets, but I can get widgets to load at will anywhere else on the site.

    Please ask questions about bbPress on their support forums.

    It’s not easy to figure out what you are doing – or more importantly why.

    I suggest you not use pre_get_posts.
    Instead write your own WP_Query on your custom page.

    This thread is now closed due to being off-topic for these forums.

    I have already made “page-bp-public.php”, and BBPress is also installed.
    In addition, the above $wp_query works with “index.php”.
    I wonder what’s fault this is??

    #302407

    page-bp-public.php is not in the BuddyPress plugin.

    $query->set('post_type', 'topic');
    ‘topic’ post types are created and handled by bbPress.

    What makes you think they are abandoned ?
    bbPress and BP Docs were updated 3 months ago.
    The others 6 months ago.

    If you have found some issue with one or more of them, you should contact the creators.
    Ditto if there is some feature that you’d like them to consider adding.

    bbPress, BuddyPress Activity Plus, BuddyPress Docs, BuddyPress Global Search and others have stopped being updated and appear to be headed for abandonement; is there any thought to absorbing any of these and supporting them to support your customers and keep BuddyPress viable?

    Hi there, BuddyPress does not come with forums, for that you’d need a plugin such as bbPress.
