This sounds like bbPress is not recognizing that you have an avatar set and is serving you the default avatar when you are posting in the forums. You might be better off posting this question in the bbPress forum as they are the experts. I’m relly not sure what else to suggest.
I log in when I deactivate BBPRess
Hey
My domain is getswing.co.uk
I run BuddyPress and BBpress to have profiles and forums.
The system works great for desktop – however, when I try to login using mobile (existing account that works on desktop, or new account) I receive a white screen that says blocked only.
I have asked multiple people to test and get the same issue.
I have tried
– deleting and reinstall BuddyPress and BBpress
– Testing multiple variations of sign ups and accounts
Help!!!!
I would like to create a Message and click the box that says “send to all users”.
The message would include a clickable link.
And when these users get the notification email saying they have received a message,
I’d like them to open the email and be able to click through on the clickable link
which will take them over to a bbPress forum post.
How can I do this?
If I just send a Message with a link, it does not currently show up as a hyperlink
so users cannot click on it.
I had an old WP site that came back to life. It was running phpBB, and I successfully imported everything to bbPress. In the new site, we are also using BuddyPress. Old users are reporting that they are now getting email notifications on replies from forum posts that are many years old.
After first posting this to the bbPress support forums, I kept digging. The email notifications came from BuddyPress. I initially thought it was bbPress, since it was linked to a forum reply. But apparently, after the old users logged into the new site as themselves again, BuddyPress grabbed the forum replies (even though really old) and added them to the user’s activity stream. The activity stream sees it as a new mention to another member, and that triggered the email notification.
Ideas and guidance are appreciated.
This will be a bbPress configuration; I don’t know if it’s possible. Try https://bbpress.org/forums/
Hey there. Here’s what is happening. When a member posts in the bbPress forum, and uses the BOLD application, or let’s say, creates a bullet list from the menu, it shows up like this in the bbPress forum itself.

Also, when I click “notify me of follow up replies via email” the email I receive looks like this as well.
I get this is a bbPress issue. I’ve messaged them as well.
I’m using BuddyPress for my new membership, and the notifications emails members receive from BuddyPress when someone tags a member in a forum post (using bbPress) are showing html code.
If someone customizes a post, like adds smiley faces, or bold, italicized text, it shows up like this below.

What I’m doing at the moment is running a mobile specific theme, my main wordpress theme just does not scale down right. By running a theme switcher I’m able to have a mobile specific setup that works a lot better overall.
Regarding mobile devices in particular the button styles used in the current BuddyPress template set is not ideal, I’m hoping this will improve with Nouveau. What I do on the mobile side is I tend to place all the main bp options in the main menu, which with my theme works pretty well.
I think you have to be very careful with what features you offer on mobile, the bbPress forums for example don’t work that well, you can get the basic members pages to work, have chat, basic groups with activity feeds but trying to do much else gets very difficult with mobile.
I am having issues with buddypress displaying on mobile devices. Such as viewing profiles and such. When I try to view some buddypress pages on mobile devices, the page is not attractive- but all info is pushed to the right side of the screen. I have tried css and it just ruins features of enfold. Please help! I wish I had used bbpress, but I did not know that it was not fully compatable.
Hi there,
I need to get an email when a new activity is added to buddypress or bbpress. This will help me a lot on the moderation. So if a user write a comment I’ll get an email from the site.
This is not possible in the email settings of buddypress, infact at the moment the only options that I see is for send email for mention.
How can I manage that?
Just thought I would pop on and say hi once again to all you BuddyPress fanatics, I haven’t been active on here for around 2 years and I am glad to see the forums still going strong and big props to the Buddypress devs btw. I am gonna try to be a little more active again, I have just finished my latest Buddypress/BBpress website which I will share later next week when it opens. Its been a long journey for me with BuddyPress from when I first came here knowing nothing about BuddyPress 5 years back, you guys ‘especially at the beginning’ helped me out loads, so had to come back and give you guys a big thumbs up for all the previous help I had years ago, so cheers guys.
Hey, @peter-hamilton been a long time mate! Glad you’re still at this, just been to check it out, looking good mate, you remember me right from the last website you created and in these forums? I have one of my own launching at the end of this week I will share with you, its been 2-3 years man since I was really active in here, Just thought I would pop bye seeing as my new build is Buddypress and BBpress once again. I am gonna try to be more active here once again, life has just had me so damn busy man.
Anyone got any ideas for this as in search engine none of my buddypress posts rank whilst bbpress posts do because of use of title…
Hello,
When I am posting a link as a user, it shows only text link but I want it to be shown as embedded. I have checked embed option from bbPress settings.
What i am trying to do is, I want my user to post link as iframe. What I am doin wrong?
Hi folks
Just a quick one (i hope)… I want it so when a new user is approved they are automatically ‘friends’ with everyone else in the network so they can chat, share with each other etc. So basically i’m looking to remove the need to send friends or connection requests.
Do you know of whats needed or of a script?
WordPress 4.9.4
bbPress 2.5.14-6684
Thanks in advance!!

Hoi,
We use Buddypress with BBpress and there is a little problem with the url from the toolbar notifications.
This url goes to the first post of the right topic, but not to the specific post related to that notification.
Can someone help me to fix this.
While testing out the features of groups in a dev environment, we ran into an issue. I first created a couple groups and all went fine. Then I wanted to test the feature of connecting a group to a bbPress forum board. When creating a new group and having it automatically create a new board, it also works fine. I also see that the normal process is for BuddyPress to change the link in bbPress to make the board listing go to the forum section of the BuddyPress group.
My problem came when I linked an existing group that was not connected to a forum board during creation (since I had yet to activate that feature) to an existing board after the fact. It linked to the parent board (probably user error) instead of a sub-board, so I went back into the group settings to change it. That seemed to go fine, but now the link to the parent board within bbPress still goes to the BuddyPress group that is no longer connected to it instead of showing all of the sub-boards within bbPress.
So in essence, BuddyPress changed a bbPress board link and won’t let go.
So… Am I doing something wrong or do I really have to go into the db and manually fix this? If so, how? Shouldn’t BuddyPress fix this link automatically when changing which board it connects to?
Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone!
This is my first post here and I want to say thanks in advance for any help provided.
The issue that I’m currently facing is that when I have nesting replies activated it throws off the avatar functionality in mobile. Please see screenshots below for reference.

The website I am working with right now is a staging site, I obviously don’t want to have a live site that has issues such as this. The site URL is https://bbcolony.staging.wpengine.com. The live site is http://www.bbcolony.com
WordPress Version: 4.9.4
bbPress Version 2.5.14
BuddyPress Version 2.9.3
If someone can give some advice as to which would be the best way to address this issue (custom CSS, SFTP) that would be a HUGE help.
Thanks again,
Jimmy
Ah, forgot to answer these:
- WordPress ver. 4.9.4
- BuddyPress ver. 2.9.3
- Installation: Runs in main directory (public_html)
- Upgraded from WordPress ver. — I’m going to guess 4.9.3?
- Yep, WP was working fine. It still is, I just recovered it from a pretty bad PHP error. (disclaimer, I have NO idea how to PHP)
- Upgraded from bbPress 2.9.2
- Other Plugins: Akismet 4.0.3; bbpress 2.5.14; Blackhole for Bad Bots 1.8; Comment Mention Notifications 1.0.0; Custom Sidebars 3.1.2; Fancybox for WordPress 3.0.13; Jetpack 5.8; MailChimp 4.1.15; Maintenance 3.6.1; SiteOrigin Page Builder 2.6.2; Patreon for WordPress 2.6.2; Responsive Menu 3.1.13; Shortcodes Ultimate 5.0.3; SiteOrigin CSS 1.1.5; SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle 1.11.4; UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore 1.14.4; User Role Editor 4.4; WooCommerce 3.3.3; WooCommerce Services 1.11.0; WordPoints 2.4.1; WP Super Cache 1.5.9; Yoast SEO 6.3.1
- Parent Theme: Rose
- I’ve uploaded the Rose theme and made a child theme. I’ve also altered wp-config.php to allow Multisite functionality.
- bbp-custom.php– I made one now! There are no functions.
- Hosted through BlueHost.
- Server OS: More than likely Linux (Apache).

The forum functionality is provided by bbPress. I’m not aware of any plugins that add the feature you’re requesting, but the bbPress forums are probably a better place to ask:
https://bbpress.org/forums/
If you are asking about bbPress, try the bbPress forum.
If you’re asking about removing the BuddyPress email verification step for new accounts, there are several plugins that do that:
BP Disable Activation Reloaded
BuddyPress Auto Activate Auto Login
Those look like bbPress files, not BuddyPress as such.
That may well be, but a php check by my hosting company says there is a lot of deprecated or forbidden code in the following files:
/bp-forums/bbpress/xmlrpc.php
/bp-forums/bbpress/bb-includes/backpress/class.bp-log.php
/bp-forums/bbpress/bb-includes/backpress/class.ixr.php
/bp-forums/bbpress/bb-includes/backpress/functions.core.php
and so on…
Currently only admin are able to see private messages of the users. This is good, but is there a way to allow moderators this ability too?
The site is using bbpress and buddypress and a couple other small plugins to help with making the forum the way we want.
Thanks…
