Here´s an example. I wrote a post on my main site that have buddypress installed as a plugin, and it shows up on my other site in the network that is integrated buddy press theme.

If i click at the my name, jerry, it points to the site where i made the post, http://abovebasics.com/members/jroc/, instead of http://abovebasics.com/community/members/jroc/. Stuff i do at the sub site, works as it should, but not the activity from the main site.

Is it possible to fox this?

Wow, so I’m dumb (or at least not as good at googling as I once thought). So, the best most efficient way to do this is using buddypress query filters. No need to add a new tab. Here is the code I ended up with (by editing activity-loop.php)
```
	$friends = friends_get_friend_user_ids( bp_loggedin_user_id() );
	$friends[] = bp_loggedin_user_id();
	$friends_and_me = implode( ',', (array) $friends );
	$friends_and_me =  '&user_id=' . $friends_and_me;
?>
<?php if ( bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( 'activity' ).$friends_and_me.'&sort=DESC') ) : ?>
```

much simpler and don’t have to worry about functions breaking. Subsequently, I believe if for some reason this solution doesn’t work for you and you prefer one of the earlier ones I suggested, then check out https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/loops-reference/the-activity-stream-loop/#adding-commenting-support as to fixing/supporting commenting

This is claimed as fixed, though I am using the most updated version of buddypress and still having the same problem. Do I have to pull from the trunk to get the truly most updated version or do y’all push it to the wordpress plugin repo?

I have BuddyPress network enabled on a multisite network and BP_ROOT_BLOG set to 2. The ‘All Sites’ list on the tracking page contains all the sites on the network excluding the main site (blog id 1). Is there any way of including this?

This version looks great!!! Thanks for this.Tested with default BP theme..Following feedback:

1. The user profile in wp admin bar in the activity tab first sub link is Mention and then second one is Personal…should be other way round…

2. Settings tab/wp-admin bar menu has a new link called “Profile”..this comes as 1st link in wp admin bar…should be the 3rd link…

Also when i click on the “profile” link from the wp admin bar menu it goes correctly to profile..but when i click on the same profile link from the sub menu/tab then it goes to a blank page.

Can this be fixed?

Doesn’t seems to work. I use an integrated buddypress theme (sweet date), and i i don’t have a bp-custom.php but a functions.php in the child theme for modification. Tried to create a bp-custom.php anyways, but it didn’t pick up any of my other custom snippets, so i ruled that one out. Any other suggestions?

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been getting a bunch of duplicate messages because of impatient users clicking send more than once if the page doesn’t respond immediately. This has been haunting me on my “fix” list, because all the solutions I’ve seen are unrelated to BuddyPress or WordPress.

Any help is always appreciated!

WordPress Multisite 3.8.2, BuddyPress 1.9.2, Twenty Fourteen Theme, Competence; I can paste code but don’t understand it. Thanks!

It looks like the $group_id is not passed along to the display() method in the same way as it is to the other display methods. That means you’ll need to implement your own technique to get that value. Try this:
```
function display() {
    $group_id = bp_get_current_group_id();
    $setting = groups_get_groupmeta( $group_id, 'whatever' );
    var_dump( $setting );
}
```
I do think that you *ought* to be able to get the $group_id inside of display() like you can in settings_screen() etc. I’ve opened a ticket for that, which we’ll fix for 2.1. https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5533#ticket

Which tag are you referring to? You mention do_action(“…”) in your question but this doesn’t tell us the tag. Perhaps see here for info on the do_action hook: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/do_action

Hi everybody!

I have a problem I hope you might be able to help me figure out. I am using BuddyPress (1.9.2) on my multisite network (WP 3.8.2) and get broken image links when I upload avatars and other images through plugins.

I have a subdomain for my media uploads (media.lusitanoportal.com) and I think the problem might come from that. For example a link for an image uploaded through my album plugin looks like this: http://lusitanoportal.com/media.lusitanoportal.com/public_html/sites/4/gallery/user/1/1/IMG_7218-150×115.jpg
The right path would be: http://media.lusitanoportal.com/sites/4/gallery/user/1/1/IMG_7218-150×115.jpg

I have “solved” the problem for the avatars by defining avatar URL in my wp-config.php:

define( 'BP_AVATAR_URL', 'http://media.lusitanoportal.com/sites/4' );

But as I have the same issue with my album plugin I have to find the source of the problem.

It seems like BP doesn’t understand where to look for images as it adds the absolute path (including public_html) after the site URL.

Is there a way to tell BP where to look? Or will I have to continue using the avatar fix and find other solutions for the plugins I choose to work with?

Hi,

I am having a bit of trouble upgrading one of my custom groups plugins to the new Groups Extension API. I am sure the answer is probably quite easy for a hardcore developer but I am facing frustrations just trying get this working. Basically I am creating an About tab for Groups. In my version I have all the fields and they are saving right, the settings page is working… It’s the display tab for public users which I am having troubles with.. To make this question easy I will use the sample (#2) provided by Buddypress http://codex.buddypress.org/developer/group-extension-api/

All I am trying to do is display the new data I have saved in my new group tab for non admins. This is what I have tried so far with no success.
```
    function display() {

        $setting = groups_get_groupmeta( $group_id, 'group_extension_example_2_setting' );
		
		
        echo 'This plugin is 2x cooler!';
		echo esc_attr( $setting );
    }
```
and
```
    function display($group_id) {

        $setting = groups_get_groupmeta( $group_id, 'group_extension_example_2_setting' );

and

This code works fine on the settings page but not the public nav item page
$setting = groups_get_groupmeta( $group_id, ‘group_extension_example_2_setting’ );
echo esc_attr( $setting );

The rest of the code is as per the example that’s provided by buddypress but none of these work… ?

I’ve tried a few other options but still no success. What am I doing wrong here, think I am close but just not working.

Help would be much appreciated.

a couple of things:
- here’s the codex page for customizing the permalink for members or any other component like it:
  https://buddypress.org/2009/05/customizable-slugs-in-buddypress/
- while it may not be buddypress’s fault if there was a conflict with a plugin (cubepoints), I would suggest considering moving from cubepoints to myCRED which has a newer code base, support and extensive documentation (mycred.me)
maybe someone else can chime in on the activity update ‘bug’ that you mentioned

I am using buddypress for a social media site.

I have create an xprofile field called “About”, and also added a new tab in the buddypress pages using the following code.
```
function custom_setup_nav() {
  global $bp;

  bp_core_new_nav_item( array( 
        'name' => __( 'About', 'buddypress' ), 
        'slug' => 'about', 
        'position' => 30, 
        'screen_function' => 'about_page'
  ) );
}

add_action( 'bp_setup_nav', 'custom_setup_nav' );
```
Now I have created an about page and named it about.php and uploaded it to /plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/members/single

And then added the following screen function
```
function about_page() {
bp_core_load_template( apply_filters( 'bp_core_template_plugin', 'members/single/about' ) );
}
```
Now when I go to about page, I always get the members page displayed there, the page where the list of members are displayed and not the custom about.php page that I have uploaded, although the url remains the same, members/username/about/

Is there something I am missing out on ?

Hello,
I installed it and tested it a lot. Till now, there are 2 bugs (latest FF & latest WP):
- Profile > Activity Tag > When you type in an “Update” post the already existing activities at the bottom of the update input appear TWICE (Double) after sending the Update. You see the new post but the other posts are x2 (sorry, I am German :D). If you refresh the page again, everything is fine again until you post an update again.
- I had the “Cubepoint” Plugin installed with the old version – the Link is also in the new profile of the user but when you click on it, the whole structure crashes
2 Questions:
-Will there be the possibility to link the own social accounts? Or better – Will 2.0 come with an integrated possibility of “Login with Social Network” and being able to link the connected account on the profile?

-will there be kinda “Wall” to leave comments or something like that? 🙂

Still doesn’t work.

I have searched through at least 100 themes, and I’ve found two that show comments to people who aren’t logged in: x2 and Custom Community. Both of these themes appear to be made by the same person, and I really don’t care for either of these themes.

I would like to use Twenty Fourteen, and I have not been able to find anyone using this theme, who is also having this problem.

Also, the plugin BuddyPress Sitewide Activity shows all comments to people who are not logged in, but I don’t want that in my sidebar, and it doesn’t solve the groups problem.

If it is a problem with WordPress being in a subfolder, what would allow these two themes and the plugin to still work?
