That worked perfectly. Almost. It seems that links in the activity feed still reference “groups” as opposed to the new slug so for instance the link should be something like this:

http://www.mysite.com/newslugforgroups/groupname/forum/topic/newforumpost/

instead the groups slug somehow persists and reads like this:

http://www.mysite.com/groups/groupname/forum/topic/newforumpost/

And this above link generates a 404 page not found error.

Old slug: groups
New slug: newslugforgroups

This seems to only occur in the activity feed – everywhere else, your suggestion seems to work just fine.

I deactivated all the plugin and activated them one by one. it was the suffusion bp pack that made them dupicate. I got this from one of there guys

When I look at your site, the javascript throw 2 errors: “XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://www.mysite.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php. Origin http://mysite.com is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.” It is like buddypress from your site tried to access something on another site (or like buddypress don’t see that your site is really yours). Maybe some redirections on your site break the things, or some settings on your server block the cross server javascripts. You can try to add in your .htaccess file the line:

So they’re saying that its not the theme or bp plugin, bp plugin did caused the duplicating post when i did the plugins one by one. I cant post text but with bp activity plus, i cant post images and links. Im so confused.

Here is the story Paul. I run a normal buddypress install on my website http://tinyurl.com/cuq6axy. If you go to the 2nd menu item in the main top nav (sorry it’s in French), you’ll see a list of users. The admin of the site did add a bunch of these users from the WP dashboard. But when a user is published in this section from buddypress, it doesn’t display the extra custom fields created nor does it carry the unfilled fields (for later editing) from the registration form which is here http://tinyurl.com/9aqtbez. How can I synchronize all the fields and make them appear on these users profiles or when they edit their profile they still have the fields which were not mandatory but not filled still appear?

Does this explanation makes sense to you or anyone there?

I was able to comment out the entire form with /* and */, but the user is still directed to a general settings page (that is now blank except for the title “General Settings”). Granted this is better than having the password and email field, but is there a way for me to bypass that tab and go straight to the notifications?

Also, I have settings checked in the admin panel because I want the user to be able to change the notification and privacy preferences. Is that correct?

I’m not sure why I didn’t think of this before, but I could just hide the tab in CSS (like I did previously) and then use a 301 redirect match in my htaccess from settings to settings/notifications. Huh, is that a viable way to achieve this?

I don’t think that any file is missing since everything works fine except BuddyPress.

Is there a way to debug this issue?

At the very least is there a way of tuning off the buddypress profile when on subdomain sites so that i can use the built in bbpress 2x profile template?

i’ve been searching and cant find it. The closest thing i found is buddystream but it seems did not publish comments into facebook.

Since it’s such an old thread and my php code knowledge is mainly copying/pasting with a bit of manipulation…I wanted to ask you what you thought about it first. I wasn’t sure how the newer version of Buddypress would react and I was scared to break my site…ha. I’d obviously like to deal with this situation via CSS because it’s easy and it won’t be affected if an update overwrites my functions.php…but I’m down for whatever works. Thanks again for the help.
