InactiveWhat version WP & BP are you using? What theme are you using? Is it a child theme or did you use the buddypress template pack plugin with a wordpress theme? It will be easier to get help when you provide the mentioned information!

ParticipantHi @shawn38 – it’s Group forums. I am using the latest BP 1.6.1
The video will embed in the activity stream but not in forum posts
I have tried the defunct oembed plugin but it doesn’t work now.September 26, 2012 at 3:21 am #142471@mercime
Participant@guitaragora Open up permalink.php from wp-content/themes/wallbase/members/single/activity/permalink.php
At the very top of the file, replace “ with what I posted above for the top part
At the very bottom of the file, replace “ with what I posted above for the bottom part.

Inactive@palmdoc What kind of forum are you using? The group forums, or sitewide forum? If its the sitewide you need to go to dashboard/settings/forums and under the main settings you need to check the box beside Auto-embed Links!

KeymasterWhen you say “have their own communities”, do you mean like a BuddyPress multisite mode? If so, that’s not possible, unfortunately. You’d have to use a multi-network configuration (one BP instance per network), but I don’t know enough about these to understand what the dis/advantages might be.

Participant@mercime false alarm, a couple other things were not correct so I started from scratch and now the issue is solved… I do have another issue though that seems to be the ONLY thing wrong now(thank god). When looking at a member’s profile, when you press the “view” link next to their status beside their Avatar. In the linked page, the primary menu(on the left side of the screen) is blocking the members Avatar and part of their status. In this link you will be able to see what i am describing
http://www.guitaragora.com/TheAgora/members/charlton/activity/11/
Do you know a way or what file I need to modify to align this properly so the menu does not interfere?

rodtrent
ParticipantFYI: This is now fixed. It was the BP Gallery plugin with the latest version of WordPress (3.4.2) and Buddypress (1.6.1). But, instead of just disabling the plugin, it had to actually be *moved* from the plugins directory structure.

ParticipantI also noticed this in my settings, how can I make it so that the activity pulls from local time and not utc time (which makes it 5 hours off)
`UTC time is 2012-09-25 17:44:21 Local time is 2012-09-25 12:44:21`

Member“Is this really the loop or just each group?”
Let’s put it this way … whenever I cycle through all groups and whenever I cycle through a single group, my plug-in takes effect. I know that because my latest attempt to get it to work was using your code and I got a Server 500 Error in both instances (in my terms “loops”).
Bottom-line, I am just trying to capture what I think should be available in the Group ID (at least I would think it should be there). I don’t want to write more code. I’ll just hard code it as we go. Not the most ideal solution, but then again….it is Buddypress.

@mercime
Participant@ashraf something’s getting lost in translation. Are you asking how to add profile fields (https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/#users-profile-fields) and/or asking for a demo site which allows you to add profile fields (none public that I know of) ?
September 25, 2012 at 5:30 pm #142449@mercime
Participant== But what I don’t understand is that it doesn’t look like the group forums were ever created, even though I had the box checked. ==
Check your database if the 7 bbp_ tables were created https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/#bbpress-forums-tables-in-database
In addition, basic troubleshooting would involve changing to bp-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress.

ParticipantHow did you install your WP, via FTP (manually) or via webhost script? Issues crop up if you installed WordPress via fantastico, scriptalicious, etc. https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#system-and-server-requirements
September 25, 2012 at 5:24 pm #142447@mercime
Participant@nggablog https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
If you already installed Group Forums in Settings > BuddyPress > Forums, then you should find your bb-config.php file at the root of your WP installation i.e., same level where you find your wp-config.php file.September 25, 2012 at 4:50 pm #142444In reply to: Buddypress Activity Time is off by 5 hours

ParticipantLooks like other’s have ran into this issue,
http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/activity-time-display-is-off-by-5-hours
Is this because of
`$time_offset = $time + ( $root_blog_offset * 3600 );`September 25, 2012 at 4:49 pm #142443@mercime
Participant@mrharris That’s strange. Have you created any bp-custom.php and added a privacy/restrict function where instead of `!is_site_admin`, you posted `is_site_admin`? Are you using the BP Default theme? Did you try deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress?

Participant@guitaragora double-check in Appearance > BP compatibility that you did Not disable JS, otherwise there’ll be issues like you mentioned above.
