ParticipantCool
so a more deep integration into the wordpress core… Speaking of This, i’m just wondering why buddypress doesn’t use user_metadata and have a proprietary xprofile table.September 7, 2012 at 10:25 pm #141240In reply to: How can I customise the “createBlogForm”

ParticipantThanks for the reply,
I am using a theme called “Salutation”
I have not created a child theme (Should I do this??) and I did not need to add the template pack as its already set up for BuddyPress.
Should I still copy this file over ??
Cheers
James

Participant@fitnessblogger if you have child theme of bp-default theme or are using the BP template pack plugin and moved BP template folders/files, then copy over this file https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.6.1/bp-themes/bp-default/blogs/create.php following the directory structure and make the change.

Helllllpmeplease
MemberHey Roger! Thank you for responding. So, the email link comes from Buddypress and it is supposed to link back to the conversation. For example, this is one http://shenow.org/activity/p/2332/
But, when it is clicked on, it takes you to: http://shenow.org/featured-women/member-directory/members-2/k8e0/activity/2332
So, somewhere behind the scenes it is getting redirected.
The theme is the clear line theme, and it has been working for over a year…..this seems to be a new issue that arose after I was trying to make new pages. I can’t figure out what happened… or how to put it back……or how to change the redirection.
I’d love your input …. Thank you!

ParticipantThanks for the feedback. Given that restriction, the outcome makes sense. I assume the “hardcoding” decision was made some time ago and there are valid reasons for taking that approach. Do you know if it is still valid today? Is the evolution of a “group” within a community not of value? Its name, and all that’s tagged to it: its admins, its mods, its members, its events, etc over time?
An example would be Steve Jobs. Let’s say that, in my community, he had created a group called Apple Computer Inc (way back in the day). Then, to reflect, the evolution of the company and its commensurate change in name, he wants to change the name of his group to Apple Inc. BuddyPress allows the change in name but the slug still reflects the old company vision. The ancestry/lineage should be handled automatically. I’ll add it to my wish list.

There really isn’t a similar issue with “member” since the slug is the username.
Thanks again, for responding.

ModeratorHi, first up what theme are you using? Are you using the default BuddyPress theme or some other one?

Participant@jaymeselman Note: If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your backstreet theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete those 6 BP folders transferred to your theme folder in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /members, /groups, /register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.

ParticipantHi, @erikahrend there’s no plugin now that does that, but if you can manage to code a bit you can use de “BP Labs” plugin mention autocomplete feature disguising it as “tags”. You will not have the feature of pointing specific x1 y1 / x2 y2 square tag position but at least your members will be able to mention “who appears in this pic?” and the mentioned users will be notified… maybe that will suit for a while

@mercime
Participant@tomelk31 It should rein in BP content to the left to lift up the sidebar. Where did you add the style to `#content .padder` and the styles I mentioned for you to copy from the Twenty Ten modifications? I’m looking at your blacklight/style.css file in server and the styles have not been added at all.

Participant@cleaus there’s `get_template_part(‘content’, ‘page’ ) ;` in your page.php file which means I need the code to content-page.php file as well

Participant@dcavins Hey did you get a solution? I have exactly the same problem on a Linux server (RedHat).
Latest wordpress and buddypress versions, default theme… Looked all over the internet…September 7, 2012 at 3:46 pm #141212ploupas
MemberAbout 3)
quick and dirty, maybe could been added as feature when user registers and has made comments before
‘UPDATE wp_database.wp_comments SET user_id=’User_ID_our_member_got_after_succesfull_registration’ WHERE comment_author_email=”his/her_old@used_before_mail.com”;’
edit: Is it normal looking at bp_blogs_record_comment() function for a chance to import “properly”?
