Tammie Lister
ModeratorHi, Just to check are you using the default BuddyPress theme or are you using a custom theme?

Participanthello,
in such situation you have to read the codex:
https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/
https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/changing-internal-configuration-settings/If you need to locate a word within BP, you can use the search function of Notepad++ or you can opening the bp-languages/buddypress.pot file. There you can see the word and the name of the file(s) containing it, included the line #.
What else ?
September 5, 2012 at 8:19 am #141023@mercime
ParticipantI see. Could you check what you have in your Settings > Readings – Front Page? Is it set to default or something else? Set it to default settings. If that doesn’t work, download a copy of BuddyPress to hard driver, unzip and re-upload via FTP to server wp-content/plugins/

Participant== I had to include index.php in the permalink and it is working now. ==
Yeah. I don’t believe that’s going to work with BuddyPress. See how it was resolved for user with Windows server in this thread without resorting to adding index.php

ParticipantYou’re welcome. Marking this as resolved.

ParticipantZippykid.com is outstanding. After you vet them, you will probably arrive at the same conclusion. Tell them your situation, your concerns and they’ll give it to you straight up.

ParticipantCan anyone recommend a reasonable minimum VPS setup for Buddypress setup with less than 50 users ?
With no more than 5 logging on at a time.
My spikes of usage come with processes rather than page loads, such as the creation of a group event and the sending out of emails to all the group members.September 5, 2012 at 1:39 am #141007Ben Hansen
Participant@valuser thanks i guess i was being a bit slow and didn’t even notice the zip download

@mercime
Participant@kissandim didn’t get the notification. Just in case you haven’t found the solution yet, just move $profilelink before the $menu, therefore the last three lines should look like this:
$menu = $profilelink . $menu; return $menu; }@cpinsd if you have more than one custom menu in your theme, find out the ‘theme_location’=>’???’ of that specific wp_nav_menu. For example, the location is mamamia then the code would be
// Filter wp_nav_menu() to add profile link in a specific custom menu e.g. mamamia function mme_nav_menu_profile_link($menu, $args) { if( is_user_logged_in() && $args->theme_location == 'mamamia' ){ $profilelink = '<li><a href="' . bp_loggedin_user_domain( '/' ) . '">' . __('My Profile', 'yourtheme') . '</a></li>'; $menu = $menu . $profilelink; } return $menu; } add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'mme_nav_menu_profile_links', 10, 2 );September 4, 2012 at 11:29 pm #141004Keith Kelly
ParticipantI wasn’t able to find any new updates regarding this. I am looking to add the post form to a pop up. Is there any documentation on how to correctly handle this?

KeymasterSorry that you feel that way.
I’ve looked through the topics, and for what it’s worth, I don’t see any hostility towards you from anyone on the BuddyPress team. Probably not what you want to hear, and probably not unexpected.
I’ll happily remove access to your account if you’d like to be prevented from using it in the future, but we don’t delete user accounts anywhere on the WordPress.org family of sites.
I’m replying to your emails to Paul now, and it would be great if we speak directly for any issues regarding your account going forward.

Participant@karmatosed, that’s much better…

@valuser, thanks! That works–but I would change “Admin Only” to what Tammie suggested. The “member” would have to assume that they are the “admin” which isn’t clear. I guess a tooltip would help.
Now, if only it worked for my theme using the Template Pack, too, not just BP Default, that would be awesome!!! One thing at a time…

Participant@juanmaguerrero — the activity-loop is part of the theme, and even if possible, it wouldn’t be appropriate for a plugin to replace it en-masse.
Different themes may implement different activity-loops (different markup, etc.) — so, your code (as a plugin) couldn’t possibly replace successfully in all possible cases.
If it’s not possible to implement your plugin hooking onto pre-existing actions, then perhaps it’s not appropriate as a plugin, and better released as a code snippet, or as part of a new theme.

ParticipantIn fact the entire modifications (not only the preloader.gif) are made in the not-ideally-correct way, since all will be gone with any update. I’m asking for help since weeks ago on https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/help-at-making-a-plugin-how-to-replace-bp-code/ and now on buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-can-i-make-a-custom-activity-loop-into-a-plugin-that-will-replace-the-default-one/ if I can manage to solve that automation I have all the code ready to pack as a plugin with a lot of improvements. @shawn38 do you know how to get this done?

ParticipantI’ve just found out this thread https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/configuring-w3-total-cache-with-buddypress/
Last update was 2 years back. It must be outdated.
anyone wants to add what to enable and what to avoid from plugin settings?
I can add that Browser Cache enabled hides from non logged users groups content.

ParticipantThanks @mercime… can you explain what alignment code to change in the template file?
This is a custom site built as a child from the default BP theme.

MemberI have tried following the guide but can’t seem to figure out what is wrong with the structure of the code.
page.php = http://pastebin.com/Z8zZimye
register.php = http://pastebin.com/bBfHa2DV
sidebar.php = http://pastebin.com/C6EUdPeX
member.php = http://pastebin.com/UATUWRiB
header.php = http://pastebin.com/WammXDw0Also the sidebar should be on the right but instead is pushed down the page on any buddypress page. Any ideas why?
If you need any others then let me know. Thanks
September 4, 2012 at 7:16 pm #140986In reply to: [Resolved] Aligment problem on Pinboard theme
@mercime
ParticipantB. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
`
`
with the following (except for registration/register.php):
``
with the following for registration/register.php:
`jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});`
Save files.
C. Upload the 6 BP folders containing the 16 files you’ve just revised to your server wp-content/themes/pinterest/
D. Copy the style modifications made in BP Twenty Ten at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and paste to your theme’s stylesheet. Adjust to taste.
