    Thanks @naijaping I am glad it works for you. I plan on adding more features in the future. I wish this functionality was built into the bp-core because I think a lot of people are a bit confused by the filtering methods trying to acquire this particular functionality. I think it is the result most people expect when say for instance they filter the activity stream for friends, they also expect to see their own updates as well. I love BuddyPress and my hats off to everyone that has worked on it @boonebgorges @johnjamesjacoby @djpaul @mercime @ray @hnla and tested it etc. I also appreciate Mr. Fullers work @nuprn1 although the code he posted had to be somewhat modified it was an excellent starting point for a plugin that finally does for the activity stream what I wish plain filtering would have done. It would have been selfish towards the community if I had kept this plugin just for myself. Its my small way of saying thanks to all the great bp developers and all the people that has helped me out in the past and maybe in the future. It works great for me and I hope it works great for many others to come as well! Cheers! :-)

    Hi, @sbaglia, I’m trying to post the answer but the system just displays an error. Would you drop me an email juanmaguerrerocom [at] gmail.com? and will paste the code to you

    #140241

    I am receiving this same issue.

    @boone

    What changed with bp_options_nav?

    bp_options_nav = ‘new_name’;

    no longer works, neither does position

    EDIT: nvrmd found your blog post http://bpdevel.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/manually-modifying-single-group-navigation-in-bp-1-5/

    looks like codex needs and update.

    for those searching:

    `$bp->bp_options_nav[$bp->groups->current_group->slug] = ‘New Name’;`

    @naijaping how would you go about this by just adding it via the menu page in wp back end

    #140231

    That is a core feature in the WordPress admin. Go to settings > BuddyPress

    The plugin is 3rd party, not from Woo. It’s owned by Sven, with a lot of the code developed by Boris. But thanks for the advice @modemlooper.

    It’s easy enough to rework it.

    You guys should tell Woo these suggestions.

    @rogercoathup I see what you mean about reengineering the plugin to make it more streamline. Ideally the cart/checkout pages shouldn’t have any distractions that may take the customer away from the job at hand (making payment).

    @megainfo – my outline solution from the other threads is:

    “If you have a look in the code for bp_has_activities(), you can
    see how it’s implemented scope searching internally, and then create your own version:

    e.g. for scope=>friends, it builds an array of the friend IDs and sets that array as the user_id element of the filter.

    Therefore, you should be able to do the same in your template — create an array of friend IDs, add the users own ID to the array, and then pass the array as the user ID filter to bp_has_activities().”

    Rich Fuller’s version: http://wpmu.org/create-a-better-community-experience-with-the-new-buddypress-friends-only-activity-stream-plugin/ takes an alternative approach.

    There’s some coding involved, but either of those solutions should help you.

    @shawn38. @djpaul @hnla @nuprn1 @pollyplummer

    Did you make reference in the plugin to where you took your code from?

    It’s really bad practice to take other developer’s code and not credit them.

    That plugin does not work the way @fanoop requested. That plugin only shows friends activity, and not your own. Just to clarify this bp friendpress shows your own and friend only activity and has admin options. Thanks! :-)

    You can also look at the original plugin that Shawn has copied his code from: http://wpmu.org/create-a-better-community-experience-with-the-new-buddypress-friends-only-activity-stream-plugin/

    There are also some earlier posts on here about how to achieve this.

    I think buddypress dont accept multi scope :) just only one scope,

    try this shortcode, it work for me

    /**
    * comparator
    */
    function cmp($a, $b) {
    return strtotime($a->date_recorded) date_recorded);
    }

    /**
    * show friends+groups+mentions actitivity in stream
    */
    function bp_get_interests_activity($atts, $content = null){
    $activities = null;
    if ( is_user_logged_in() ) :
    extract(shortcode_atts(array(
    'max' => '20'
    ), $atts));

    do_action( 'bp_before_activity_loop' );
    global $activities_template;

    //get last friends activity ( default 20)
    bp_has_activities( 'scope=friends' );
    $friends_activities = $activities_template->activities;

    //get last groups activity ( default 20 )
    bp_has_activities( 'scope=groups' );
    $groups_activity = $activities_template->activities;

    //get last mentions ( default 20 )
    bp_has_activities( 'scope=mentions' );
    $mentions_activity = $activities_template->activities;

    $intersting_activity = array_merge($friends_activities, $groups_activity, $mentions_activity);
    usort($intersting_activity, "cmp");

    $activities_template->activities = $intersting_activity;
    $activities_template->activity_count = $max;
    $activities = '
      ';
      ob_start();
      while ( bp_activities() ) : bp_the_activity();
      do_action( 'bp_before_activity_entry' );
      ?>
      <li class="" id="activity-">

      <a href="">

      <a href="" class="view" title="">

      <?php do_action( 'bp_after_activity_entry' );
      endwhile;
      $activities .= ob_get_contents();
      ob_end_clean();
      $activities .='
    ';
    do_action( 'bp_after_activity_loop' );
    endif;
    return $activities;
    }
    add_shortcode('interests', 'bp_get_interests_activity');

    and you can call it with this

    echo do_shortcode('[interests max=20]');

    this code, will join the friends + groups + mentions of the current user.
    the only problem, it not a join from database, because the code do a join with last activiy from each scope ( i mean mybe we lose the chronologic order of some activity).

    hope this help.

    Try my plugin here: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-friendpress/ see this is what your after. After installation, and activation go to dashboard/settings/ bp friendpress and change the setting to current user / friends activity. Just be aware it also make buddypress specific pages private so only members can view them. make sure to read the readme.txt regarding group forums or sitewide forums and make changes appropriately. If you do not want the buddypress specific pages private you can go in the bp-friendpress.php file and comment out the part that says “The walled garden.” Hope this helps!

    Not sure if this works with BP 1.6.
    And you’d need to extend it to do what you want.

    I usually have to do the following to upgrade buddypress:

    – Full instance backup with my host
    – Deactivate all BP plugins (not deact BP itself as it crashes my server)
    – Replace via SFTP the buddypress folder with the new version
    – Reactivate all BP related plugins
    – Pray that the server does not fall over in the next 5 minutes….

    It works :)

    Not a single reply yet. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Here’s a little more info that further clarifies:

    I’m hoping to use the S2 Member and Buddypress plugins for WordPress to manage volunteers and members at our arts cooperative and website.  S2 Member seems well suited for registering both paid members and volunteers (free users) while Buddypress adds the social features needed to help our people work together.

    S2 Member had me convinced of easy integration with Buddypress, but this has not exactly been the case. S2 Member Registration fields appear in the Buddypress registration form, but I’m having the following issues

    1. Buddypress profile fields allow users to choose if fields should be visible in their profile, or allow admins to set a default visibility for each field.  Can I implement this for fields created in S2?

    2. Buddypress profile fields are linked to a search for other users that share the value of that field.  I had originally thought this would be perfect for a membership directory that categorizes member and volunteer skills, but not sure how to implement a search that works with both types of fields.

    3. S2 does not come with it’s own Member Directory, a feature that should be essential.  It is a known issue and common complaint, for which the developers have provided some pointers in the right direction, but no comprehensive code that would integrate options into Buddypress.  A membership directory is the most essential aspect to our site, but I’m confused as to how proceed, given the limitations of both plugins.
