ModeratorIt’s not a glitch it’s a feature.
add (to a plugin, to your theme’s functions.php file, or to your bp-custom.php file)
remove_filter( ‘bp_get_the_profile_field_value’, ‘xprofile_filter_link_profile_data’, 2 );June 29, 2012 at 3:42 pm #136563Josh Carr

Member@modernlooper — I just searched this support forum for “remove links in profile fields” and got very strange and non-related results. So I still don’t know how to fix the glitch.

ModeratorSearch here to remove links in profile fields. It’s a BuddyPress feature for searching users who are similar

ModeratorMaybe the plugin developer hasn’t updated their plugin to work with latest BuddyPress

ParticipantCurrently unable to locate the developer of Buddypress BuddyChat through Google.
Please share this elusive developer’s link so that we also may enjoy the use of this super plugin!

sorry, i cant find the corresponding files, neither in the directories nor in the editor list. Could you please point me to where they are located?June 28, 2012 at 8:24 pm #136536Giovanniw650
MemberI’m guessing that this is just a bug that there is no answer/fix to it yet? Or maybe its just not compatible with my Theme.

MemberWow im surprised nobody mentioned BuddyChat, designed for buddypress. Google “Buddypress BuddyChat” to download it from the developer. I use it and its super.

ParticipantGroups forums do work in bp multisite using bp-multi-network and a plugin like say Networks + .
You can post to a group forum from the main forum directory or you can go to a group and post a new topic in the group forum
But I’m afraid its way over my head as to how or as to how to fix for @coreymj78

ParticipantThanks.
Why I had asked was that i noticed after doing updates to wp 3.4.1 and updating buddypress that on some test sites with child themes the bp compatibility notice was present.
On clicking it brought me to the screen 1 of the bp template compatibility pack.
As the theme already had the folders in-situ I would have thought it would have brought me to screen 3 of the bp compatibilty pack as in previous updates.
As it happens i had done (as i presume others would do) tiny tweaks to the activity, group index & group loop files.
So if I had pressed the compatibility button I presume my tweaks would have been lost.
When I update buddypress again, i’ll pay more attention to see if this repeats.

Participantthat is strange. I took your chunk of code above and pasted it into the bp-custom.php page in my plugins folder, and this is what I get in my address bar:
http://localhost/members/user1//friends/I get pushed to the member profile instead of their blog
my specs:
I am using wordpress MU 3.4 with BP ver 1.5.6. – I place the code in my plugin file bp-custom.php.
not sure why I would get a different result than youJune 28, 2012 at 3:40 pm #136526Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterOnly way is to set up a multi-network WordPress site (not multi-site). Google, and/or look at http://wpmututorials.com/news/new-features/multiple-buddypress-social-networks/ for more information.
It’s still pretty new, so mightn’t be bullet proof.

Jaja..
MemberBummer,
And what if i lets say use Twenty Eleven as default theme and use the BuddyPress ‘Use your own Theme’ Support plugin?
Than BuddyPress files are added to my Twenty Eleven theme correct?June 28, 2012 at 3:38 pm #136524In reply to: Forum and Registration tab not showing
Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterYou need to complete set up of the (group) forum component in wp-admin – BuddyPress > Forums Setup.
The registration component or page is visible if you enable user registration in WordPress (Settings > General).

KeymasterWe don’t change the privacy setting on each individual item when you change the group’s privacy settings. It’s complicated. Check out these trac tickets:

ParticipantIf you go to your profile or the activity stream and type in @admin I get a notification.
Do it on the forums, no notification.

ModeratorDon’t think that will work. why use BuddyPress if you do not want profiles, it’s the main purpose.

MemberThanks for the reply Paul.
If the sharing of site is WordPress behaviour, why can’t ‘friends’ via BuddyPress see each others blogs? I would love it if my post went into the activity for all other users to view but that doesn’t seem to be happening.
I feel like I’m doing something wrong but I don’t know enough to know what that might be..

Thanks

MemberOK – dumb question but where are the 6 Clean BP folders?
I’ve looked within the BP zip and they’re not there. When I uploaded the BP Comp. pack (https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/) it actually skipped over step two automatically.
Where do I go to see them?
