    So… it’s a bit messy. When we were building the 1.5 release, to get our search working, we had to internally make BuddyPress think that “search” is a component. This is directly why it is telling you that the search component page mapping is missing, even though the search component doesn’t exist. There’s no way of turning search on or off, though I’m not sure that many people would want to do that.

    When we start building 1.7 (our next release), I think we’ll quite likely change how we handle search so that this confusion goes away.

    Why are you expecting to see “Member” as an option? BuddyPress doesn’t add any user roles.

    Sorry for posting this somewhat randomly but I cannot for the life of me find the ‘create new topic’ button for this forum – I need to report the fact that the pagination on the buddypress.org website is broken – can’t get past page 1! Thanks for showing where to look anyone!

    @valuser – today you happen to be my angel coder, so thanks.

    It’s probably not the technically correct way, but I used:
    `href=’$link/page”`

    since we don’t have to use the .php anyway and it worked. Who knew.

    It’s a WordPress Multisite question, not a BuddyPress one – this function would be a starting point: it returns all the blogs a user has access to:

    get_blogs_of_user( )

    @valuser that is fantastic. If you can accomplish that you can’t sell yourself short, maybe you’re more of a programmer than you think.

    Got one last request – I need it to point to a directory, for instance:
    `<a href='$link/directory'`

    any ideas on how to complete that?

    Did you install BP Template Pack plugin which is required to make your theme compatible with BuddyPress? Then did you go through Appearance > BP Compatibility process? In Step 3 of the process, that’s where you can change HTML structure of the BP template files transferred to your WP theme in server to be full width or any other layout configuration.

    BuddyPress 1.5.6 ==> WP 3.4

    == in default theme of buddypress is everything okay. ==
    Therefore you should contact Suffusion theme author regarding this issue.

    WordPress plugins which are supposed to be BuddyPress-ready are tagged “buddypress” by respective plugin developers – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/buddypress
    Double-check if plugin’s been updated for latest versions of BP at least

    To make your WP theme compatible with BP, you need to install BP Template Pack plugin and go through Appearance > BP compatibility process then align HTML structure.

    Yes, we are aware of the bug for the plugin’s pagination in this site.

    You cannot change the pages associated with BuddyPress in Add New or Edit Post/Page panel – page template. You would have to change the HTML markup of the specific component’s template file. What theme are you using?

    #136246

    Could be a plugin conflict or theme issue.

    WP/BP versions? Is this a new install or did you just upgrade to latest WP/BP? What theme are you using? What plugins do you have installed? Have you done any basic troubleshooting like changing to bp-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress?

    I am trying to enable it so a user on any blog (on the MU platform) & or page on the site can return back to their blog with one clickable link in the sidebar or header.
    Any ideas on how best to accomplish this?

    Thanks @djpaul

    Thanks for the info.

    I think more Forums set-up info is a must and perhaps is better delivered in a bbPress codex page specifically for BP.
    And provide a link on the bb-forums-setup page
    Or it could go right on the bb-forums-setup page.

    A start to discussion:

    @tjbrewers

    For iOS avatar uploads, I sent them to a separate mobile screen on which I did this:
    `

    <a id="applink1" href="aurup:?uploadUrl=/mobile-apple-avatar-process&redirectUrl=&redirectDelay=5&uploadTimeOut=10&licenseKey=1234&fields=id%3D%3Bmnonce%3D”>
    Upload Avatar Photo

    `
    And ‘mobile-apple-avatar-process’ is a WP page that calls
    `
    locate_template( array( ‘photo-process/mobile-apple-avatar-process.php’ ), true );
    `
    And ‘photo-process’ is a dir in my mobile theme.
    In ‘mobile-apple-avatar-process.php’ I use a non-WP approach to creating the full and thumb images because for images uploaded on iOS, you need to check orientation (rotation) via exif_read_data. And I did a crude ‘auto-crop’.

    So the user should never see the ”mobile-apple-avatar-process’ page.
    And they are then sent to the value of redirectUrl in the href above.
    And that screen should show them any bp_core_add_message values you created in ‘mobile-apple-avatar-process.php’

    It’s awkward, but it works.

    Yes, use a PHP conditional statement to check whether they are logged in and include the appropriate code.

    As @modemlooper points out, it’s straightforward work for a web developer, but does require knowledge of PHP, HTML and CSS

    There are no spam members on there (or no more than a small handful). The site is monitored and administered on a daily basis.

    Enterprise Nation is a very successful company supporting UK small businesses. The membership comprises regular members, and special campaign sign ups.

    Spam sign ups are prevented through a number of techniques – including the alternative sign up page (it’s more than just a renaming of register), and the use of a membership plugin. Captcha is just an additional layer of protection in this case.

    10K Twitter followers, and 5K Facebook likes is a pretty impressive conversion ratio!

    @paul_gibbs, I have tried to create an action in bp-custom.php and then hook into it in the theme. The problem seems to be that from

    …/wp-content/plugins/my-plugin/myfile.php

    you cannot access any functions which are defined within

    ../wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/any-function-defined-in-here.php

    At the front end, the error you get is:

    ‘Fatal error: Call to undefined function any_function_starting_with_bb() in …/some_location/plugins/bp-custom.php on line 102’

    @mercime thanks for the response…

    I do have membership enabled in settings > general as I already said I did.

    It’s a new buddypress installation so no, was never able to upload & crop an avatar before as this is the first time I tried.

    Yes, I can upload, crop etc images everywhere else.

    New installation of both wordpress and buddypress – installed both yesterday.

    From time to time, we hear reports of this. No-one has figured out if it’s a theme issue, or a plugin issue, or a BuddyPress issue, or some sort of WordPress config issue. I’ve never been able to recreate it, nor have the other core developers, which suggests it’s something outside of BuddyPress or the BP-Default theme.

    Hmm bp-upm is me but I did recently upgrade it to work with 1.6 and haven’t spotted any issues, but will have a look again when there’s a moment, (possibly I got network paths wrong – do hate trying to figure out multi site admin)

    Developers deserve huge credit.

    Testing on a local install.

    Child theme of bp-default.

    bp multi network.

    Forums for Groups.

    70+ plugins simultaneously (list at http://pastebin.com/0FmZgbrk). Mainly buddypress plugins – some old.

    All well so far

    Obviously there are hundreds/thousands of other plugins – just didn’t get round to them –yet.

    a) With bp-upm (a major plugin imho) -perfect in single install, in multi-install settings do not appear in dashboard but access can be got through http://mydomain.dev/wp-admin/network/admin.php?page=bp-upm-settings. Could just be on this installation.

    b) Also haven’t really tested bp-mass-messaging or mass messaging for buddypress (2 plugins) though they both turn up and appear to be ok.

    You guys and the volunteers here have normalized the expectation that anybody of average intelligence with access to a computer can create a sophisticted scalable social network in a few hours.

    How cool is that!

    Thank you.

    == i want to integrate buddypress with templatic theme ==

    You need to install BP Template Pack plugin and go through Appearance > BP Compatibility process.

    == But is it possible to add buddypress network as a wordpress page??i ==

    BuddyPress is not a single Page proposition, The plugin contains components (like you see on home page https://buddypress.org/) rendered as Pages in a site. Check out http://testbp.org/

    As I mentioned in instructions

    Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.

    … which includes all the 16 template files and more. Make revisions, Then upload the 6 BP folders with the revised files into your server wp-content/themes/chameleon.
