MemberThanks Paul, I was exactly talking about the same, the links in activity stream. I don’t have much knowledge of mysql so wouldn’t risk myself changing the links through database. Guess, I’ll have to wait till all the links get bumped with the new ones. I know sounds foolish.

@mercime
Participant1. BuddyPress and bbPress have the same Lead Developer, https://buddypress.org/community/members/johnjamesjacoby/activity/just-me/
2. Current BuddyPress version uses own version of bbPress plugin for Group Forums and at the same time, can use bbPress plugin for Sitewide Forums. https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
3. In upcoming BuddyPress 1.6, Group Forums will be refactored to use bbPress plugin https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3598
bbPress *heart* BuddyPress

ParticipantThis is a little confusing….
Did you install wordpress and buddypress yourself ‘via ftp’ or did you use a webhost’s automated system and how far did you get with wordpress before these errors occured? It might be easier to re-install wordpress from scratch manually….
Renaming the folder would disable buddypress so that shouldn’t be a factor, suggesting this is not a buddypress problem. Have you installed any ‘buddypress’ plugins and what wordpress plugins have you installed? Are you sure these are all compatible with your versions of bp/wp ( https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/plugin-compatibility/ ) .
To get back into your wordpress installation you could try https://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F
Did you go through the theme compatibility process for buddypress: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/ ?

@mercime
Participant== I want to replace the buddypress search box from top header ==
If you have a bp-default child theme, copy over header.php from bp-default theme https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php
Then delete lines 25-44 from header.php per link I gave and move those lines over where you want it.== Is there a buddypress 1.5 compatible plugin that manages banneradds? ==
You could create widget areas then just add the sidebar areas where you want them to show up in theme, see how to http://justintadlock.com/archives/2010/11/08/sidebars-in-wordpress
February 17, 2012 at 2:21 am #129954@mercime
Participant== I’d need to show the login form to all the users that get to the BP site. Only on that one. ==
Copy code from bp-default’s sidebar.php to your bp-default child theme or custom BP theme. https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-themes/bp-default/sidebar.php

Participant#8. Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated? If so, which ones? None activated.
#12. If running bbPress, which version? Or did your BuddyPress install come with a copy of bbPress built-in? 2.0.2bbPress 2.0.2 is a plugin, and you have to install it deliberately for the Sitewide Forums. Group Forums uses its own version of bbPress. So just to clarify, which forum are you referring to? Group Forums or the Sitewide Forums?
February 17, 2012 at 1:33 am #129950In reply to: Re-install is possible?
@mercime
ParticipantYou know the problem is that BP 1.2.5.2 was set to be compatible with WP 3.0. You have upgraded your installation to latest WP 3.3.1 but did not upgrade your BuddyPress which is now version 1.5.4
February 17, 2012 at 1:15 am #129949@mercime
Participant@fswd you mentioned that you set up the forum correctly (in your first post), did you enable forums for each group in e.g. GroupName > Admin ? https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/4/#forums-faqs

I have renamed the the BuddyPress folder to BuddyPress2, using my ftp software. This had no affect either.
It it helps I am using the Creativix theme which is the second most popular after Twenty10, so I thought it should be proven and therefore minimise any technical issues there maybe.
Your suggestion for a check memory allocation plugin is a great one. I shall install one, once I have managed a way back into my Admin dashboard.
Finally you may wish to know that the error code that I see in my host error log is that the fault is happening in a line in the php-db folder.

Thanks for your reply. I understand there is only one copy of the php.ini file. My host installed it for me to adjust the memory value. I am not clear what you are asking. If you are asking whether the php.ini file is in the root directory then the answer is “yes”. There is a line in the script that reads “memory_limit = 128M”. I have taken this figure right up to 4096M and still I cannot open my wp admin dashboard, so is this really a memory issue I wonder?
Should I be looking at another line to tell me that the php.ini file is ” set for script memory”?
What do you mean by “re-start the httpd process”?

I haven’t heard too many people talk about this, so i was just going to play with some ideas i came up with. anywho, keep me posted with that, i’m gonna head over to the plugin page now

ParticipantI agree, and no they are not sharing IDs or slugs. I’ve been chasing this issue for months now, and just today realized it had to do with include sequence.
I’ve also noticed the behaviour in other plugins, such as the BuddyPress Group Email Subscription by Deryk Wenaus, boonebgorges. If that plugin is activated also, it will interact with the tabs from my plugin hiding tabs etc. Low and behold, they too are using the BP_Group_Extension API.
Wonder if this is a bug? I also tried it with a virgin install of WP and BP and it happens there as well.

MemberHello,
I think i have the same issue. With Wp 3.3.1, BuddyPress 1.5.4 and bbPress 2.0.2, when a user try to edit his profile, the nickname is deleted. I try to deactivate all my plugins and change to bp-default theme and no difference. I have no proble with the wp-admin.

KeymasterIf you referring to links in the activity stream, you need to edit them manually in the database. If you’re not, exactly what links are you talking about? BuddyPress has lots

ParticipantNot all hosts allow you to increase memory that way. Some do not allow it at all!
To get into your admin you could use ftp ( or your web-host’s control panel ) to disable some plugins by renaming the directory/folder(s) – ie:- /wp-content/plugins/theplugin/ – Some plugins use a lot of memory.
If the theme you are using has lot’s of options it could also be quite memory hungry.
I find the check memory allocation limit feature of https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-system-health/ ( screenshots ) useful to find out how much memory WP thinks it has. There are other alternatives though…

Their is ALOT of code around the web that you can find via google.com to create a private community…
