    Hugo,

This below potion of the overview has yet to make sense to me.
“Additionally to keep things neat & tidy you can keep your custom parent template file ‘community.php’ in these folders as well rather than your theme root.

You may override the css by adding a folder /css/ to your theme root if you then, either, copy buddypress.css from /bp-legacy/ or create a new file named buddypress.css this file will be used instead of the buddypress version.”

Here’s my interpration of it: I can copy my theme’s css file into BP’s activity folder to override the BP template. Is this correct?

Hugo, you are my Victor Hugo! You are making life acceptable for a “Miserable” like myself. I just downloaded the 1.7 version and working on alignment now. http://www.ppua.net/member-directory/ still looks unhappy but I’m trying to fix it now. Other suggestions are welcome!

@mercime Thanks for the assist. Close, but not quite. Apparently I was at 2MB. I’m on a private server, so no worries, upgraded via php.ini and .htaccess Change is visible in wp mediau uploader upload limit.

tested in the wp admin media uploader with a 56kb image (the same test image for all upload tests in this specific post) and all worked…until I did test on profile frontside.

I tried to upload via the buddypress profile page and here is what I got.

    • 1. Was able to select an image.
    • 2. When I selected ‘upload image’ I got the error below
    • 3. Checked in wp-admin media library for potential image upload and none present

ERROR MESSAGE: Upload Failed! Error was: No editor could be selected.

    Any thoughts?

If you have the option don’t get too involved with template pack, work with and style the theme compat templates – if you have heavier duty styling/markup requirements then you perhaps might need to use the bp-default templates moved into your theme but try 1.7 in theme compat mode first:

Thanks Hugo! The desperation comes with a new deadline being assigned to complete the task. I will give this a try. Were you able to take a look at the code provided. Any quick ideas what could cause the member list page to unfit in the theme template?

    Again, thanks!

I’ll Publish a page that I’d kept in draft as I wanted to revise some aspects that will help explain.

    hi guys,
I’m creating a forum called ‘Impact the World’ – and people will write a post in there every time they impact someone’s life, no matter how small.

I’d like to have a widget in the right hand column (or somewhere) that displays a graph showing the total posts by that user, and total posts across all users – so we can measure the IMPACT we are making on the world.

    1) What’s the php code to count total posts in a particular forum?

    2) How can I display total current user posts, total all user posts, and user name of the TOP POSTER, in some kind of widget?

(Sorry I’m a php and buddypress noob!)

    Hey Buddypress community!

I’ve been looking all over for tips on how to accomplish this and I’m either illiterate with coding, or overlooked it. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I’m looking to have a feature on my site where registered users can create a customized/filtered post feed based off of tags only. So when a user has an account, they can choose from a list of tags to follow and each post from their selected tags would display in a tab on their profile.

The best example I can think of is the ‘Team Stream’ feature on Bleacherreport.com; they allow members to search and select their favorite teams, then every new post on that team would be fed into their profile.

I don’t know much about custom post types, hooks, queries, etc.; I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction : )

    Thank you!

Please don’t bump threads til ~24 hours has passed.

You stated ‘playing around’ with BP, that doesn’t tend to gel with ‘getting desperate’  Why the urgency? 🙂

What I would suggest is you rely on the theme compatibility built in to 1.7, use that rather than ? template pack. Download a copy of 1.7 beta and have a go with that, it’s pretty stable and safe to beging building sites with.

there are a few bugs, beta 2 is about to get pushed. That should be solid enough to use for site building.

Yup, by the way: are there any news on the 1.7 release date? I saw from the milestones that it’s 99% complete, but it’s been like that for almost 2 weeks by now.

Sure you can. By the time your site is ready (or even before that), BP 1.7 will be there for you to upgrade!

    Hello,

I am new to BuddyPress working on an off-line site that is soon to go live. I am on the latest version of WordPress (3.5.1) and BuddyPress (1.6.4) however I am having one huge issue. When members (only members, not guests or administrators) try to visit a forum topic they get a 404 Error instead of the topic! I read that this is a known issue and will be fixed in the next BP Version, however my site is to go live this week and I am not sure how long that version will take. Can someone please tell me a quick way to fix this? What files in trunk do I need to pull from to fix the issue? I tried to get an answer a few days ago in THIS topic but realized that it was marked as Resolved so most people will ignore it. Hopefully someone can help! So far, I am loving BuddyPress and I’m sure my visitors will love it as well. Would be great if they could actually access the forums. 🙂

    – Thank you!

    Hi!
I’ve installed BuddyPress and everything loads on a page-{name}.php file that I’ve specified but the BuddyPress attributes are all unstyled. Do I have to style them or am I missing something?

    Thanks!
