To choose between the BuddyBar and the WP Admin Bar this needs to be added to wp-config.php. Make the setting true or false, depending on your needs. Setting it to false will force buddypress to use the buddybar.
`define( ‘BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR’, false );`

ParticipantThanks Paul! Been out for the holidays. I appreciate your response! Lovely site, BTW. Did you have to do some tweaking to the database/BP/etc or are you basically running an out-of-the-box core installation? Looks like you’re using Groups, Extended Profiles, Friends and Activity Streams?
Any suggestions, caveats for someone beginning this process for a larger community?

@mercime
Participant== Let users have their own blog. i read that buddypress has this feature ==
That’s a WordPress Multisite feature which is supported by BuddyPress. Install WP, then create a network, then you have to allow user/s to create blogs in Network Admin > Network Settings..== users can add information, images or html code ==
Images can be added in a variety of ways: a) your blog posts – the native WP gallery, and/d or via BP-compatible plugins like the b) free BP Media and the d) premium BP Gallery plugin. Test drive BuddyPress by logging in demo site at http://testbp.org/November 28, 2011 at 4:29 pm #125151In reply to: Buddypress Activities-Status Update in Front Page

MemberThanks to you. But another problem-(I am sorry i didn’t made myself clear first) I want show blogs and also activities at a time in the home page so that user can see both blogs and other activities all in one place

Participant@Dailyblog It could very well be just one or two missing, extra or misplaced closing div/s. http://validator.w3.org/ usually can help you ID extra/missing divs.
If you need further assistance, it would help if you open up your WP theme’s header.php,copy source code, go to pastebin.com, post code there, click submit and post the generated pastebin URL here. Do the same for elitist theme’s footer.php, index.php and page.php.

For s2member-specific questions, you’d probably get more pertinent help at their forums:

MemberThis should do what you want: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-activity-stream-hashtags/
I have loaded it, and it’s really nice, however, i’d prefer to add tags to an activity, rather than hashtag linking, (because I’m using the BP Bookmarklet), but until i can code, beggars can’t be choosers, and it’s a great plugin, so….

ParticipantThe problem you’re having is with inappropriate css. Using negative `top` values for every individual element simply pulls the element upwards, out of its designated “space”, while leaving that space blank. For example: `edit-profile-right-column-vertical` has a negative top value of -1019px which leaves 1019px blank below it (where the element would normally appear had it not a negative top value).
A better layout would be to first remove all `position:relative` and `top` values from individual elements in your css. In your html, wrap each group of elements you want to display on the same line in a wrapper div (ex: div#name-wrap). Next, apply `display:inline-block` to each element within the wrapper div. To finish, simply adjust width, padding and margins to get everything nicely aligned. Example below:
`
#name-wrap {
width:100%;
}
#name-wrap #edit-profile-right-column-firstname, #name-wrap #edit-profile-right-column-middlename, #name-wrap #edit-profile-right-column-lastname {
display:inline-block;
width:30%;
margin-right:2%;
}
`Hope this helps!

MemberI seem to have solved it for now. I changed the bbpress “forums” page to a page other than forums, since that has a potential conflict with buddypress. We’ll see if i can keep it going!

November 28, 2011 at 1:42 am #125117In reply to: Can’t leave a reply on activity feed
r-a-y
KeymasterBuddyPress activity replies only work when javascript is enabled. This is a known issue:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3705The problem is your theme (and/or plugins) is conflicting with BuddyPress’ javascript. If you check your browser’s debug console, you should see some javascript errors.
Try to nail down where the issue originally came from. It should be a plugin or your theme’s JS that is the culprit.
November 28, 2011 at 1:34 am #125116In reply to: BuddyPress robots.txt
r-a-y
KeymasterThis isn’t really a BP-related question, but a robots.txt file is usually not necessary; it’s only needed if you want to block certain bots from your site.
More info here:
http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=156449Also make sure you’re not already using a robots.txt plugin like:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/irobotstxt-seo/November 28, 2011 at 1:26 am #125115In reply to: Getting the BP post author avatar outside of loop.
r-a-y
KeymasterYou shouldn’t use the members loop if you don’t need it.
A more efficient call is using bp_core_fetch_avatar() and setting the parameters there. (Make sure you use a function_exists() call if you use this approach.)
You can alternatively filter get_avatar() as well using bp_core_fetch_avatar() as well.
