Participant== i have the problem with the non-buddypress theme ==
If you want to use your WP theme with BP, you need to install the BP Template Pack plugin and go through the compatibility process.

Member@linusf I tried that plugin, and while it installs cleanly in 1.5, it doesn’t seem to work. I don’t see any areas where I can set privacy options on my profile fields.

ParticipantWhen I upgraded to 1.2.9, I experienced this same issue… I just discovered it from my upgrade to 1.5 bleeding… it’s appears to be a theme issue for sure…. I can disable all of my plugins/bp-custom.php and I still have this issue with my current theme…. when I switch to the default theme, the problem disappears…
So to recap… for me, not a plugin or custom.php issue, but a theme issue AND I am experiencing this in current stable of BuddyPress… I’ve asked @sbrajesh to look at this as I’m using his themes….
Just some more info to this.

MemberI appreciate the contribution, but sometimes you can’t easily identify a person to determine if you should friend them (or find someone to send friend requests to) unless you view their profile.
Ultimately, I think we need per-field privacy controls.

ParticipantLooks like I am going back to using Mingle more user friendly.
I use the add-on for theme compatibility and most stuff is still screwed up.
I will keep checking in on the progress thou.August 2, 2011 at 10:35 pm #117441In reply to: Buddypress Profile privacy for non-friends

Participant@karmatosed I’m going to try this trac you speak of. I will submit these ideas to this place and get over my fear of getting punted.
I submitted a ticket just today…and I’ll submit this and the last idea you mentioned to do this for.

ParticipantAre you using pretty permalinks as required by buddypress? ( https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#wp-configuration )

ModeratorYou can use as much or as little of BuddyPress as you want. So yes you can just use the membership components – avatar, profile, sign up.
August 2, 2011 at 8:41 pm #117436Tammie Lister
ModeratorIf you want it considered to be part of the BuddyPress core then filing an enhancement ticket is usually the best route.
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/
If you have a patch for it smiley faces of happiness all around as that really rocks.
As a work around you probably want to look at some of the user limiting plugins / membership / privacy.

ModeratorYou mean like an avatar moderator? No solution springs to mind but perhaps something in this search would be helpful?

ParticipantI see… I think we are talking about a different plugin and functionality.
I’m talking about this one: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-profile-privacy/
And it’s complete functionality is listed on the roadmap for 1.5

MemberSadly, that plugin does break with 1.5, and it is currently abandoned. The author stated someone else can pick it up.

KeymasterHey @modemlooper, I juts posted a patch to that ticket. Would you mind installing it and then walking through an upgrade again? I think that the patch fixes the biggest part of the problem (did for me with Achievements, anyway).

MemberIs there anyone that has any other ideas about this? I still cannot get it fixed, it doesn’t happen with anything other than BuddyPress, I am using BP for a major part of my website that is due to launch by the end of this year. I would really like to get this working…
Please help?

KeymasterI’ll work on providing a document with best practices for creating them. See https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3422 for further discussion of the page creation problem.
August 2, 2011 at 4:55 pm #117410In reply to: Can I put a logo in the defult theme
@mercime
Participant== how can I do this using the default theme.==
1. Create a child theme of bp-default theme. – https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
2. Copy over header.php from bp-default theme – https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.2.9/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php
3. Open up header.php and replace the following:
<h1 id="logo"><a href="" title=""></a></h1>
with
<h1 id="logo"><a href="" title=""><img src="/images/logo.png" /></a></h1>4. Upload a logo.png or .jpg, etc. to your theme’s images folder
