ParticipantThis is a multi site sub directory install with only three sites, the primary site is not using Buddypress, just a secondary site uses it and this is the one that is giving the problems. The third site is active but not being used and is not using BuddyPress.
My .htaccess file follows, (some differences but I don’t know if these are significant).# BEGIN WordPress
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /now/
RewriteRule ^index.php$ – [L]# uploaded files
RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$2 [L]# add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule ^ – [L]
RewriteRule ^[_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $1 [L]
RewriteRule ^[_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/(.*.php)$ $1 [L]
RewriteRule . index.php [L]# END WordPress

ParticipantI to am interested in this. Any update on this? I have buddypress working on my multi-site but it only works on the main site and then on my subdomains I just get an 404 error if you click on members for example on a subdomain – so does it setup the buddypress across the network or per site on the network? I am googling and trying things but not fully understanding what it will do in a multi-site setup on 1.2.9

@mercime
ParticipantJust to clarify, do you already have an external bbPress installation? Your external bbPress installation must use the same database as your BuddyPress installation otherwise this integration won’t work.
If you do not have an external bbPress installation using same databse, then you should use the BP Forum Setup and create/install a new bbPress forum.

ParticipantHello Paul,
Thank you for the purpose, I’m very sorry to disturb you but I have just installed BuddyPress and I don’t have any idea to make that. What’s the code for customizing the loop placed in members/index.php ? How can I know the ID of the value of the gender field ?
Thanks.

KeymasterWhich theme? Do non-BuddyPress widgets work? Have you tried removing the BuddyPress widgets from the widget area, and adding them again?

@mercime
Participant@lunaix you should post at plugin dev’s site with details about your install – might be some conflict with another plugin or theme or something else, Tested the plugin on BP 1.3-bleeding and later in BP 1.2.9/WP 3.2.1 and it’s working great.

Participant@careercreatrix Before there was WP Multisite, there was WPMU(multi-user) a long story https://wordpress.org/news/2010/06/thelonious/
== 1) Do i have to “create a group” in order for people to be able to join my discussion forum? I just want one plain old discussion board, with multiple topics. ==
Yes, at this time you would have to create a group and be a member of that group in order to post forum topics. If you only want the forums without the social networking feature, bbPress the plugin is in beta3 https://bbpress.org/blog/
== 2) It says you have to have registration enabled, so people can register. How do I make sure it’s enabled? ==
Go to dashboard Settings menu > General > Membership – check “Anyone Can Register”
== there isn’t a “Create a Group” tab when I click on “Groups” in the top bar, ==
You will find the “Create a Group” link if you go to your site’s /groups/ directory, it was never included in BP Admin Bar. So if your WP is installed in domain root i.e. http://yoursite.com/, you go to http://yoursite.com/groups. Beside the page title, Groups Directory, you’ll find the link to create a group in the bp-default theme. Or, you can go directly to the URL
http://yoursite.com/groups/create/step/group-details/ – replace yoursite.com with your domain name.July 24, 2011 at 2:45 am #116831stone1

ParticipantYes that is the right place for the buddypress, but you have to get bbPress standalone version 1.0.3 instead of the plugin version.

Are you running WP 3.2.1 and BP 1.2.9? WP 3.2.1 fixes JS problem in WP 3.2.July 23, 2011 at 4:27 pm #116798In reply to: No one is able to ‘reply’ since the last upgrade

@mercime
Participantwp-includes/registration.php has been deprecated since version WP 3.1. What WP/BP versions are you on then? Plugin or theme conflict. Deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change to bp-default theme.

Of course, sorry about the lack of information.
Website: http://www.doghousegamer.com
The theme I’m using is PlatformPro and we haven’t upgraded too WordPress 3.2.1 as some of the plugins (ie. the login bar) don’t work with 3.2.1 yet.
Thanks,
