MemberHi again, I haven’t been able to progress from here in the last week. I would have thought this would be a common question?? Perhaps I’m missing something obvious as nobody has replied to my original question above.
Could someone please help to steer me down the right track? …I’m looking to edit the content of the notification emails for BuddyPress activity like PM’s etc… simply, I just want to delete the content of PM so it doesn’t show within the email notification…
Thanks in advance folks.

ParticipantI was able to find the file causing the issue after renaming the /buddypress/ folder to /buddypress-abc/.
After gaining access to the admin board I started deleting files one at a time and found that if I delete bp-forums.php in the main buddypress directory the dashboard problem was solved. That is, I was able to have buddypress working at the same time as my dashboard.
I never installed a beta version. All I did was click the “enabled” option for forums in the Component Setup area of buddypress settings in the dashboard. Now that I’ve deleted the bp-forums.php file, that option is no longer available in my dashboard.
If at all possible, I would love to be able to re-enable it if I can figure out how to get it to actually work. But if I upload the file back then the admin breaks again. Any ideas?

ParticipantHere’s a very good tutorial about sidebar widgets. It would involve adding code to theme’s sidebar.php and functions.php files http://justintadlock.com/archives/2010/11/08/sidebars-in-wordpress

ParticipantRename plugins folder in server to e.g. plugins-x via FTP or cpanel to access wp-admin
If you installed internal bbPress forum via dashboard menu > BuddyPress > Forum Setup, it shouldn’t cause any problem with access to your /wp-admin/. Do you mean you installed the beta bbPress plugin?.

Participant3. Save revised file and make necessary replacements in the rest of the files listed here https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#revise-templates
4. Upload revised files to active WP theme folder following directory structure.

ParticipantUPDATE 07-11-2012: Check out the latter half of Page 3 of this topic for the instructions for latest version of Instyle theme
1. Download BP template files transferred to your active WP theme via the BP compatibility process to your computer hard drive.
2. Open up /activity/index.php with text editor. We’re going to replace the top and bottom sections of the file.
At the top of the file, replace
``
with
``
then at the bottom of the /activity/index.php, replace
``
with
``
