ParticipantYou shouldn’t really be using ‘valign’ it’s a deprecated attribute, presentation is handled by CSS.
The reason that valign isn’t working for you is precisely because CSS has been used to apply a vertical-align: middle; to that cell.
You need to use a debugging tool such as Firebug for FireFox to allow you to examine the applied style/ rulesets for elements then you would be able to see what was affecting what.
BP default.css states that all table cells should be vertical-align: middle, you will need to adjust that specifically for that cell either by adding a class to style on or using descendant selectors.

ParticipantOf course I can – http://eblog.ge/
Site is in Georgian language and you may be confused, so I have created another page, with only table – http://eblog.ge/valign-test/
* I have not made any changes in my .css files, only change was when I changed background color, but it couldn’t make any affect on TABLEs, in addition I had same problem with TABLEs until I change this background color (I know that it isn’t in touch with each other, but just to make everything clear..).

This is HTML of code which I used on page above:
`
This text must be “valigned” to top This is simple text… `

Not at this time. Read this thread for explanation https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/buddypress-roles/

ParticipantJust got back in. All tickets listed at this time in https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3241 are either being worked on and many have already been fixed. Kudos to all

Participant== Perhaps this bug has been fixed in BP 1.3, what do you think? ==
@Qwindoo I haven’t seen any “bug” like this in current BP 1.2.8 at all. Does this happen only on tabs in the users section as well as in dropdown links from BP Admin Bar? Have you tried manually re-uploading your BP files to server?
== I installed BP 1.3-bleeding (downloaded from Trac just an hour ago) to test things out, ==
BP 1.3-bleeding should be tested on WP 3.2 rc1. In any case, you would have to resolve your current installation first,

KeymasterWhile this is a general CSS query, we need a link to your site/demo page to see the specifics. Can you share?

ParticipantOpen the file called style.css in your theme and look for “body” (it’ll be near the top). Modify the background-image & background-color properties to suit your theme.
You could also check out themes that enable you to customize stuff with a few clicks in an admin panel. Just so happens I’ve built a couple
Here’s a link to the freebie: http://buddylite.com/buddylite-basic/You’re on your way to learning all kinds of cool stuff! Have fun

Keymaster“Control panel” doesn’t appear in BuddyPress. I guess that’s part of your theme, or another plugin?

KeymasterYou’ll need to remove (or rename) the folder wp-content/plugins/buddypress-group-email-subscription, via FTP. Then try visiting your Dashboard.

That’s not a plugin, it’s a standard Buddypress widget. Look under “Widgets” in your WordPress backend and you’ll see the one called “Who’s Online Avatars”. Just drag that widget to your sidebar and voilà!

ParticipantSorry to sort of bump into a somewhat old topic, but I would like to add that I am also in the need to control user roles in BP. I am using BP for a client who only wants to allow advanced profiles for users with paid memberships. If there’s currently any way I can achieve this, I would really appreciate if anyone gave me a hint towards said solution.

@mercime, thanks
@djpaul,
just updated the xprofile template tags to cutdown the query for select/multiselect fields. Please have a look here https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/3233May 21, 2011 at 1:28 pm #112759In reply to: Call to arms – Own your task

Keymaster@karmatosed @mercime @bowromir @hnla and anyone else interested in contributing to BP-Default 1.3:
Mercime has generously done a wp.org-style theme review of BP-Default. I’ve created tickets on trac. The master ticket is https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3241
I may add a few more tickets once Mercime has clarified a few details. If you are interested and will commit to resolving one of these, please go into trac and “accept” a ticket so that everyone can see that you have assign it to yourself. If it’s a big visual change, I suggest making a mockup picture and attach it to the ticket so that everyone can give feedback.
If I can be of any help or guidance, I’m on skype as “djpaulgibbs”, on IRC and frequently check my email. Don’t hesitate to get in contact

Keymaster@gunju2221 jjj has built the new version of bbPress, and obviously integration of that into BuddyPress is planned. Have you checked out the bbPress test installation on http://testbp.org/discussion ?
RE: a BuddyPress UI team. People who are interested in contributing in this way need to have shown their interest by contributing to theme and UI tickets and issues as they crop up. I know some of the people in this thread already have, and do; keep on the good work

MemberThanks for replying, @mercime ; I already had the default theme, but I deactivated all plugins but BuddyPress, and I still have the exact same issue…
FYI I run BuddyPress 1.2.8 and WP 3.1.2. Perhaps this bug has been fixed in BP 1.3, what do you think?

Moderator@MrMaz, @Bowromir: I’m up for linking up about UI / design on the default theme, buddypress.org and also back end admin interface. As I come from a UI and design / front end more should fit in hopefully with those already volunteering. I would love to get involved in both parts and have done a small amount with some sketches for the dashboard previously for @djPaul.
As previously discussed I would like to suggest the formation of the BuddyPress UI/design team. I think in BuddyPress’s case it should include the default theme as that is the main along with admin UI experience most get.
I am also happy to get involved in CSS documentation which I think is a key issue. I actually think it should all stay in one file but be documented and commented so that it’s easy to navigate and find content. I have done some clean up on the CSS before but suggest this goes deeper with commenting and better organisation. I would like to take that task on even with the default theme as think will benefit others – assuming it’s not being done already.

@mercime
Participant@Qwindoo that is definitely not the default behavior as you have surmised. Change theme to bp-default and deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress. Then activate your plugins and theme one after another to check which one is triggering the errant behavior.

Participant@carlla sorry for not being clearer. You should not manually transfer the BP template files from the template pack yourself. The template pack process will transfer the BP template files in the backend.
