ParticipantAll I want to know the answer for the million dollar question..!!
HOW TO CLEAN OUR WORDPRESS MULTISITE AND BUDDYPRESS WEBSITES AGAINST SPAMS??!!

Participant–
I thought that too, but I was also thinking that somebody should resolve that problem in the past, because this feature what I want is in basic turning buddypress in dating & meeting site (paid one, which restricts mens or womens contact each other until they pay for it.)May 13, 2011 at 4:38 pm #112223@mercime

ParticipantAs I am not able to program this type of thing… Is there anyone out there that already has a patch/mod for this type of “super-user” for BuddyPress?
I need users that can edit moderate every group as well as make text edits and delete items in the activity stream, yet has not access to screw things up in the back-end, because they are “admins”.

Participantre spam: I would do a little research as there have been some lengthy posts on this question /issue here so dig those up and give them a good read, there are plenty of steps you can implement to reduce spam, however be aware that there isn’t much you can do about human spammers and they account for a good deal of time wasting these days especially if you allow for blogs to be created at signup (something I don’t personally think a good idea).
As for approving multisite blogs as a single super_admin I’m not sure you can or should, multisite blogs are meant to be fully fledged blogs in their own right and the user that creates the blog is the admin. There are however steps you can take as the multisite admin to restrict what can be done on user blogs but that is more a question for WP than BP. If your meaning that you will have members on your primary blog that is running the multisite install and you want to elevate them above ‘Subscriber’ level to say ‘Contributor’ so they can post then that can be done and can and submissions will be ‘awaiting admin approval’ which you will see if you run through the options in the dashboard with perhaps a test user with a ‘Capability’ higher than ‘Subscriber’

KeymasterNothing to say yet, but the next major release of BuddyPress, 1.3, is something we’ve been working on for a long time and is getting closer. You can review the current roadmap of issues to address at https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/report/11

KeymasterThe random images, like yours here, is a gravatar. It’s not possible to select a bunch of graphics and pick from it, whilst still using gravatar. You can switch to using the “mystery man” profile graphic, and can customise the default graphic by using the ‘bp_user_gravatar_default’ filter; is that any good? I can share a code snippet after work if so

MemberBump for great justice!
Is there any way to provide a gallery of avatars to choose from, or to randomly pick from the pre-provided avatars for people who don’t upload their own?

MemberOut of curiousity, will there be a new release of BuddyPress soon? Or should I just not run nightly of WordPress?
WordPress 3.2 is slated for release next month, so I’m assuming BuddyPress will need a new release as well in a similar time frame.

ParticipantYou can map profile fields from Facebook to BuddyPress with WP-FB-Autoconnect with custom code. It is indeed on the roadmap!

ParticipantMmmm weird.. BuddyPress and WordPress SEO just work fine both enabled. The trick I posted is to offer full compatibility for WP SEO URL rewriting. If you get completely blank BuddyPress pages something is really messed up. I did not know Hybrid worked with BuddyPress but I think the error is to be found there. Try enabling BuddyPress and WP SEO and switch to the default buddypress theme. If it still gives you empty pages then reinstall both WP SEO and BP.

Participantok here’s the EASIEST WAY EVER =_= Totally for noobs!
This does need a child theme, but you can still put it in stead of the bp-defaults.
1 – open your file …./wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-defaults/
2 – rename “sidebar.php” to “sidebar_bkp.php” ( to revert in case of errors)
3 – download this file ( http://dinoraptor101/com/swso/bp_nologin_sidebar.php.zip )
4 – extract the php file and upload it to the directory above
5 – rename the file you uploaded to “sidebar.php”DONE!

MemberThanks for replying.
Well, we have a very specific, slightly unorthodox, design in mind for the registration page. For one, the plugin’s ‘Disclaimer’ box is exactly what I was looking for, without trying to edit any BuddyPress code (which I would prefer not to do). It just seems more flexible, especially since I am somewhat of a beginner in the world of web building and design.
So, I suppose my question is this: can I use the plugin registration form instead of the one that came with BuddyPress?May 12, 2011 at 8:46 pm #112187In reply to: Default Permalink Help
Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterNo, BuddyPress absolutely requires custom permalinks. What about putting “%post_id%” into the custom field? I’m not sure what the default behaviour is when permalinks are not set, so you may need to play around — take a read of https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Choosing_your_permalink_structure

KeymasterCould you report as a bug on https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/? We may have already fixed it in our development version of BuddyPress, but you reporting the issue would prompt us to check. You can use your username and password from this site. Thanks!

KeymasterI don’t think there’s any way of integrating these two similar, but different, beasts. What type of registration field do you find BuddyPress lacking in? Privacy options?
May 12, 2011 at 8:36 pm #112163In reply to: W3 Total Cache – Are you sure you want to do this?
Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterWe’re aware of issues with certain types of caching provided in W3TC and BuddyPress, but I’ve personally not tracked down which, where and why
