    Try my BuddyPress Extended Settings plugin, to see if it works with your custom setup. I will be adding a way to specify tabs that get added via plugins. Right now plugin only includes core tabs

    It’s tricky to say not having a link to your site as a starting point to consider things. It could be that some plugin or even your theme is interfering with the links working. Probably a good starting point would be to re-save your permlinks (this probably isn’t the issue but a good check) under settings.

    Then look to see if any redirect / plugins are interacting. If you are able (and you may not be able to on a live site) set to the BuddyPress default theme and see if that solves the issue. Could you have added any custom code to the theme?

    Yes, BuddyPress and multisite do work together and you can have one login.

    Cool start, you’ve posted this in the gallery section so probably for your questions you would get more responses if you put them each in a post in one of the other forums. For instance the ‘Creating and Extending’ for customisation or ‘Installing BuddyPress’ for setting up, or ‘How-To and Troubleshooting’ for any issues and after set up.

    As far as commenting on the site I’d love to see the front page show more of the community within. I always think it’s a shame to just have a wall of text when you land on a community. Maybe expand on the logo styling and rough up (for want of a better design term) the other elements. I’m a sucker for a bit of personality in a site and think considering your topic you could do that fairly easily.

    I dont know too much about Multisite…but can Buddypress and Multisite work together. Can the users have the same login information and interact between the two.

    It’s a standard WordPress question, rather than BuddyPress specific.

    Have a look at some of the actions on new user registration in WordPress – you would simply need to hook a function onto the appropriate action, and write to your alternative database in that function.

    If you are not familiar with ‘action’ programming in WordPress, take a look at Codex documentation, there is plenty of info in there.

    Yes, it works really well for this organisation – their build has been running for over two years now, and we add new features on a fairly continual basis.

    There are some added twists that the shared user base lets us introduce – e.g. as well the main domain being the corporate home, we are able to offer personalised versions of the main site that the members can ‘present’ to their colleagues and connections.

    Meanwhile, the member area (BuddyPress based) remains hidden away, and only visible to logged in members.

    @StSmith – we use exactly this setup on one of our client builds.

    They have a standard WP install on the root domain for their corporate front end, with a BuddyPress install on a subdomain for their members to access social elements, book events and so on.

    They share the same database, and we even ‘share’ some stories from the corporate site direct in the member domain, and vice versa with some photo uploads.

    There are lots of options in addition to multisite – e.g. bespoke code to integrate a shop built from scratch with the profile, or integration of an existing shop into profile, with a member front end for product upload.

    For an off the shelf solution, you can have a look at MarketPress from wpmu.

    My site uses a few plugins that add additional links to the top of the members profile pages. The plugins are Cubepoints, BuddyPress Wire, etc.

    Is there a way to manually “move” their positions in the link menu? Is there a way to “sort” the default links in the menu?

    Here is an image of the menu right now, with the plugins activated:

    As you can see, Points and Wall push themselves to the front of the list. I’m trying to find a way to insert them alphabetically INTO the pre-existing links. If that’s not possible, I’d like to push them to the end of the menu.

    I’d also like to arrange the pre-existing links, like Groups, Activity, Friends, etc. in alphabetical order. But I’m not sure what to change. My site uses a RocketTheme with the Gantry Framework and Gantry for BuddyPress Framework. So I don’t know if I need to edit something BuddyPress related or Gantry for BuddyPress related.

    I’m looking at one of the Gantry for BuddyPress files (home.php) and it lists the following:

    When I edited this file, nothing I rearranged carried over. So I assume I must edit this elsewhere.

    Also, the Following and Followers, I believe were from a different plugin. But I see that they inserted themselves INTO the menu. I guess that’s what I’m looking to do for the other plugins like Points, Wall, etc.

    Hope someone can tell me where to start. I’m baffled.

    Ok, I followed your directions and still no bb tables (I am reactivating my theme and plugins now, so that users don’t get disgruntled, but let me know if you need to see it with the default). What do you think are my options now?

    Your pages are reading the CSS perfectly correctly.

    It’s your templates that need adjusting – you’ve installed a photo plugin, and not rewritten the templates to work with your theme.
