Hi @rogercoathup, I have noticed that if you click on some link /button on your site that between every page load there’s a 1 sec white page blink , I had the same problem on http://www.4ella.com and have removed it by disactivating some plugins (I don’t remember which ones 
), could you tell me how many plugins are you using ? Or are you trying to use more codes than plugins on your site because before I had about 70 plugins active , now I have only about 20 , the site is much more quicker now and I don’t see no white pages between page loads anymore , but there are many plugins which I miss a lot , so I am trying to find the way how to activate more plugins without slowing down the site and seeing white page between page loads.

I have installed and followed the directions in the capability pack and now I am trying to fix the alignment issues. I have made copies of your theme’s header.php, sidebar.php and footer.php and rename them to header-buddypress.php, sidebar-buddypress.php, and footer-buddypress.php.
After this point, I am at a loss. Hope you can help walk me through how to change what coding in what file. thank you in advance,

I’ve been testing BuddyPress on a private site of mine and noticed an issue with the Account Settings page. Apologies in advance for the long writeup.
Some background information that could help:
First, I have two registered users on the site that I’ve created for testing. Let’s say the users are: Admin1 (administrator role) and Subscriber1 (subscriber role). Second, this is how the Account Settings Page URL looks on my site: “example.com/username/”. The Account Settings Page is where users can change their own email address or password associated with their account.
The scenarios below:
If I am logged in as user Admin1 and go to Admin1’s Account Settings Page at “example.com/admin1/”, I can change the email and password associated with Admin1’s account. This is fine because I am in fact logged in as Admin1. However, while I am logged in as Admin1, if I type the following in my browser: “example.com/subscriber1” (this is the Account Settings Page for the other user, Subscriber1), I notice that I can make changes to the email address and password associated with Subscriber1’s account. I imagine I am able to do this because I am an admin, correct?
I tried this same scenario, but this time with the Subscriber1 account logged in (keep in mind: Subscriber1 only has a subscriber role) and typed in my browser the Account Settings Page URL for Admin1 (“example.com/admin1/”). However, this time, I receive an error message from my browser with a message that states that the page isn’t redirecting properly. I imagine this is happening because a user with a subscriber role cannot access another user account that is “higher” than their account (in this case, an admin).
My question is – instead of the subscriber receiving an error, can the page just redirect to the homepage or to their own account settings page? Or would it be possible for the link to redirect to the author page (“example.com/author/username”) of the other user?
you know the check boxes let me post a screen shot from image shack. I am referring to this picture it is your plugin. You have the “let the user decide” drop down option but if you could just please add the default “friends only” check boxes and add the private messaging it would be superb. I would personally greatly appreciated thanks. I tried others but it was too much of hassle for user if they would want to go that deep I want something simple as yours so even my grandpa would be able to set his privacy settings thanks again.

@meisterlumpi it has been resolved, so no need to open a new ticket.
Instead of messing with core file, you could just add the change in your theme’s stylesheet. Also, the the change should have been for body.wp-admin only, since removing it from body could make the adminbar overlap your content at top if your theme design is set flush to top of screen.
@elangley – BuddyPress is used to provide the backbone for member accounts on Enterprise Nation. Customised activity stream loops are also used (e.g. clicking on discussions a sidebar option from some pages) takes you to a custom activity stream showing new forum threads, and blog comments & threads.
The profiles are currently being overhauled – with a raft of new functions coming on board in the next month or so (e.g. shop account integration, and some bespoke BuddyPress components for directory listings).

To get rid of the gap I edited the file “/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/css/buddybar.css”. Just comment out `padding-top:25px!important;` in the first line of the file.

would be pleased to know if there is a better work around, that doesn’t involve messing with a core file though..

@joemd did you move the /gallery/ folder from bp-gallery plugin folder into your active BP-compatible theme? Also @sbrajesh usually posts compatibility fixes or updates for BP Gallery at BuddyDev.com if needed.
@karmatosed I had seen that but didn’t see an answer on how to do what I’m trying to do. I need a live validation to show the user whether or not their entry is a valid url for facebook or twitter.
@joemd the plugin has not been updated since April 2011, so I wouldn’t recommend using it in any installation.
Yes. That issue is resolved in BP 1.6 which will be released sometime soon.
In the past 6 months I was getting 50+ spam bot registrations a day. I used WangGuard, but it was not catching them.
The bots were looking for the default registration page at http://yoursite.com/register
I changed the permalink of my default registration page to something else and have not had any issue since then.
Knock on wood, I have not had to delete any bogus registrations for the past month.

I ask: SweetCaptcha looks cool. Do you have to come up with your own designs or are they stock?
One possible problem with this model, like any captcha, is that once the bots create a database of these drag and drop actions, human figures it out and then put in the database, it may become ineffective. The more adoption a model gets in WP the more attacks it will undergo from spammers.

I’ve been having good success with SweetCaptcha, I haven’t had any complaints from anyone & it seems to work for people from all cultures. One bot through since installing, but that is a lot less than lots of bots a day.
bp_get_profile_field_data() still exists in 1.5.7. Double-check:
* is the BuddyPress plugin active?
* Is there a nag message near the top of the plugins screen with a message “BuddyPress has been updated! Please run the update wizard”? If so, run through the update wizard.
The only thing that would break is links in old activity as those are hard coded into the databases

Great to read about your success with BuddyPress and Enterprise Nation.
Customizing registration appears to be a must when creating a high load community. There is a lot of heavy lifting that needs to be done during signup which requires a custom process.
Interesting that you do not use and activation email.
The site appears to be locked down from a BuddyPress standpoint. No Activity Stream?
