Hey @bowromir -wow, I missed this somehow… Great plugin as well!!! … I think roman means can we (in a future update) choose a group for the stream to import into rather/AND/OR than the main activity stream. I could see that as being extremely useful as well. Again, nice job. You should submit this to the repository …. or if it is –> I was not able to find it as I just searched for a similar plugin about a week ago.

@AnindyaRay There are at least 4 overlapping images in the background. Search for “parallax jquery” and you’ll get different ways to create that effect including one for parallax in header only. The trick is making sure that it won’t conflict with WP

Just tested this on BP 1.2.6 and your example works for me.

What version of BuddyPress are you using? This was a bug in a previous version of BP.

Re #2 – Most likely a child theme issue. Can you post a screenshot to confirm?

@zomex – You might want to try this in your theme’s functions.php:

Actually, based on your report, it’s hard to give a definitive answer. What exactly is breaking in the admin area?

That’s strange, it should be in BuddyPress > General Settings panel right under “Disable global forum directory?:” What BP/WP versions are you on?

Absolutely, this is the default behavior. This site, for example, is running buddypress, so by joining and logging in you just experienced BP goodness. Also check out testbp.org. That is a default install of BP and represents what you get out of the box.

That solution isn’t really possible if you’ve made changes to the them since installing buddypress. At least I can’t imagine how. I have a similar situation – trying to get rid of buddy press but terrified that pulling it out is going to screw the rest of the site… Is there a more foolproof way to do this?

I found it after doing some searching… it doesn’t inject the forum into the “home” tab itself, but it would let you rearrange everything so Forums come up first (and make “home” not even appear at all if you want from what it looks like).

@janis It seems to be the avatar of the blog so if you have multiple blogs you can have different avatars for each blog. I’ve been going nuts trying to figure out how to upload a new avatar for each blog so it doesn’t look generic but I haven’t figured it out yet. If the monitors of this thread know please let me know. Also, In regards to the latest post you just need to adjust the CSS on the style sheet of the theme you are using.

There are a few possible approaches to integrating them together, and the ones you need are possible even today. That’s actually exactly how bbPress works in the WordPress plugin repository, attaching plugins to tags in essence giving them their own ‘forum’ in a sense.

The first iteration will probably closely mirror how things work today, for the sake of it being an easy transition for everyone’s existing data. The last thing we want to happen is to force anyone to make changes to their existing setups. In future iterations we’ll include some options on how you want to configure them to communicate to each other. This may be strongly theme dependent though, since all of these components would need to have the proper hooks and CSS in place to style these elements correctly in any of the places they might appear.

mercime’s suggestion will work well if you want to keep people from commenting on certain kinds of activity items. If you want to turn off updates entirely, you may want to do it at the theme level. You’ll need a child theme (https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/). In that child theme, make sure you have a file groups/single/activity.php. You can get the content of that file from wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/single/activity.php. Then, in the version of activity.php in your child theme, remove the following lines:

here my question: in a practical or psychological or user perspective way – what is the difference (advantage/disadvantage) between activating group blog and the group forum functionality? am i a complete bloghead ?

@en3r0 – as far as I am aware this plugin appears to have been abandoned. I have tried it myself and it does not work. I have seen no activity for months and the plugin site has been down for a long time. possibly a lost cause….the good news is though – we have one available which you can see in action at our demo site http://buddypress-maps-demo.glocate.me/
