I have a question … I have 2 different site where I have install in both worpress, but buddy press only in one of this. I want to know if is it possible to install some widget on the site where is not install buddypress to see for example, List of Members, List of Groups etc.. of the site where buddy press is installed. ….. Is it possible ???

I started a migration of a community website using buddy press, from two different hosts, everything went well, all profiles transferred all groups etc..
in the admin panel, under buddypress–>profile fields I lost all the fields I entered and I have an error message “You have no groups” not even “Base”
Can anyone tell me how to fix this ?
PS ; I went to the database I made a query and I found all the information, they exist in the database, but the information is not displayed in the admin and in users profiles

We could do with updated recommendations of antispam software, right enough.
Fortunately, deleting spammers is easy and take their posts down the tubes with them, but it is a chore.
WP/BP versions? Single WP or Multisite (BP installed in main site or subsite)? Theme used? Plugins used? Have you enabled Group Forums in Group’s admin settings? Have you done basic troubleshooting by deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress and changing to bp-default theme?
ps. having scanned though the buddypress source code i’ve just found a clue to what the problem maybe:
file: bp-blogs-function.php
function: bp_blogs_record_comment
– takes a parameter ‘is_approved’ – if it is false, then blog comments are NOT added to BP activity stream.
this suggests that WP comments are ONLY recorded in BP activity stream IFF comments are wide open and ‘automatically approved’/’do not require approval’. If on the other hand, comments are set as ‘requiring admin/moderator approval’ (as they most usually will be), then they will NOT EVER be posted to BP activity stream
this seems to be confirmed by the appearance of a NEW function on the forthcoming BP 1.6. The new function is:
bp_blogs_transition_activity_status
– and its purpose seems to be to enable WP comments status to appear on BP activity stream WHEN/IFF admin/moderator approves them.
please could someone confirm this is the case?
is there any workaround for BP V 1.5.4?

I found and removed the code that shows radio to select public as group status, but if users exit from create group procedure before complete the second step(‘settings’), status is set to public.
I also edit
plugin/buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-screens.php (line 513 and 514) into:

But i can’t resolve.
1. Ok, this is something I have never understood and I really need to now that this site is about to go live. When I sign up a test account on my buddypress register page, I activate it via the email, etc then it says activation complete, etc. But what I don’t get is, the new user does not show up in the SITE admin > Users > All Users, it only shows up in the NETWORK admin Users > All Users. This means that my client’s staff will not be able to see the BuddyPress members in their site admin users area right? Why is this?
2. Another issue I am having now is that when checking what the actual WordPress ROLE the new BuddyPress user was by testing it with a function like this:
if( current_user_can( ‘author’ ))
…the BuddyPress new user didn’t match any of them. I tried Editor, Author, Member, Subscriber, Moderator, Contributor, Key Master… and even Blocked and Inactive (whatever those are) and none of them affected this new user. What role is WordPress even giving the new BuddyPress users? I have verified that the new BP user does not have access to the WP admin dashboard at all, so that is good. But I need to be able to filter certain aspects of the site in addition to this, thus I need to know how to use the above conditional for BP users.
3. After I get this sorted, is there a plugin or function I can use that would cause new BuddyPress registrants to be automatically redirected to the BP Groups area when logging in?
Since last day my website started getting lots of members which looked like a bot registering on my website. I kept on deleting them, but new profiles are being created after a few hours. I googled one of those spam usernames (i.e ludingam -google url- http://goo.gl/pEhsx ) and found that the same profiles had been created on several buddypress websites in a span of 2 days. What exactly is causing this? Is this due to some malware in a buddypress plugin or a work of a buddypress spammer?

So I’m looking through the buddypress hooks here in the status update form file trying to figure out how I might be able to add something that would allow me to update my status from the admin bar.
Can someone direct me in the right way to finding what hooks to use and how I might about adding an update form into the admin bar?
I use the Private Buddypress plugin – it’s very simple and locks the whole site down, with the option to exclude the front page or blog pages if you want, otherwise everything gets password protected and only shown to logged-in users.

Why there is no option to search buddypress support forum. The site search box at the top right only throws results that are in blog/announcements.

@piccollopete we don’t quite know from what application/software you are migrating from in the first place. I can only guess from the first post that you’re migrating from another forum software. The easier route then is to import data/users from that software into WordPress with bbPress plugin, after which you can install BuddyPress which works with bbPress plugin.
Do post at bbPress.org to check whether an import script has been created for your specific forum software.

All the pages will end with a .html. I wonder if this is due to my SEO plugin which default all pages and post with a .html URL.
Instead of http://learningdigitalphotography.net/registration/ It becomes :

What can i do to change it?

Did you try the patched version: http://alantait.net/2011/07/27/wp-multi-network-plugin-fix-for-wordpress/ ? In the comments of that page @johnjamesjacoby mentioned ( 12/02/2012 ) that he planned to update wp-multi-network soon…..
@boonebgorges recently wrote http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/a/45682/7401 which seems particularly relevant to your question. In the post he mentions Networks + as an alternative way to enable multiple networks but it is a premium plugin.
I don’t think we can just ignore the -2 issue, because I think that it points to a larger confusion between `user_nicename` and `user_login` on your installation. I’m not sure what kind of further debugging can be easily done at this point, though, without direct access to your system. I guess I would check a couple of things if this were my system:
– Drop some debug `var_dump()`s around https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-core/bp-core-catchuri.php#L239, to see how BP is determining your displayed user ID
– Check directly in your database to see if there is some strangeness in the way that your user_nicename is defined in wp_users. The nicename should not contain capital letters or spaces, though user_login can.
Yes, we used the predecessor plugin debug-queries, but debug-objects is the plugin author’s recommended update

i m using Buddypress on a Multisite installation. WP 3.3.1 BP 1.5.4
Today i tried to install Buddypress Ajax Chat but it didnt work and my website was down. Via FTP i was able to delete Ajax Chat but i needed the host to restart http://www.nellyville.at. They deactivated all plugins at the database and since then buddypress isnt running… All pages are not found… also the pages i created so i think they made something wrong in the databases….

I am using latest WordPress V 3.3.1 and Buddypress V 1.5.4 – (most plugins disabled, for test).
Since ‘new posts’ display in activity stream i was also expecting ‘new comments’ on wordpress posts also to appear – in fact i require this.
Is it normal for post comments not to appear, or is there something i must change?
(i find some info on the web regarding custom post types in activity streams, but not normal wordpress comments. i have set all available wordpress and buddypress settings to appropriate values – but no change).
can anyone help me out here?
