ParticipantYou’re welcome @nimaha
Some installs with search engines blocking turned off, activity stream still not working. Not many complain about this issue is a big surprise. Maybe because upgrade and not new install. Don’t think that fix from @johnjamesjacoby work. testbp also still not working correctly.

Participantnit3watch – Where is the groups index file located? It’s not within the /plugins/buddypress/bp-groups folder.

Member@alanchrishughes: Well crap

Oooh, is there a tag you can use on sidebar.php? There must be something there, because there’s a link to the logged in user’s profile that’s displayed in the sidebar on every page. That’s where I’d check next.

Memberi came across a similar problem after upgrading WP to the latest patch and have the latest buddypress… i didn’t notice it earlier, but none of my members is listed either (in the member directory) but they appear under a group membership (all are autojoined in a group automatically)…
i have no clue what to look for here, but if i can help provide more info to debug this please let me know!ADDITION:
i checked the wp_users table and from phpmyadmin i updated all ‘user_status’ to 0 and ‘auto_join_complete’ to 1. this has done the trick for me!August 6, 2010 at 9:36 am #88223In reply to: Facebook Login?

Participant@zaimejs check the spam folder. Buddypress confirmations emails routinely end up in the spam folder for a lot of mail servers.
In related / unrelated news, I’ve had a problem recently where an individual member’s avatar has started showing up everywhere, like in place of each and every group avatar for example. It’s happened a few times and tonight I traced it to the Facebook Login plugin and once I disabled that everything returned to normal.

ParticipantSome things are here visit the link and read the posts. The other guy updated the tutorial on his site. I think it’s not so easy because also forum search on BP org here when you click on the topic second third and so forth search result pages it gets you error. Pity.

If some ppl didn’t know, you can change action=like to anything you want, so it could be action=recommend and so on.

ParticipantSorry, I’m not being very clear. I’ll try again.
The problem with the plugin is that once you have logged in with facebook you can’t stop the facebook avatar coming through even if you login in normally afterwards. Once you are connected with facebook you are always connected to facebook. The plugin did not used to work like this. This means that users have to have to same avatar in fb and bp …forever! The only way around this (i have found) is to deactivate the plugin.
My question is, is it possible to stop the facebook avatar coming across in the first place. But still use the plugin and therefore users would upload avatars in BP.

MemberIts very simple, but it took some time to figure out, and several visits here, that taught me nothing.
Go to the menu My Account > Groups > My Groups
You’ll get a long URL with /my-groups/ at the end of it.
Replace “my-groups” with “create”, hit return, and you’re good to go.August 6, 2010 at 7:18 am #88207In reply to: Redirecting to profile page after login

ParticipantHey All,
Im using WordPress 3.0.1 with BuddyPress 1.2.5.2. I have used the WP-FB-AutoConnect to allow users to login using their facebook accounts and it works absolutely fine. However my issue is that I want users who login for the first time (those who login through the facebook connect) to go first to their profile page and fill out the additional details in their profile and update their facestreem and tweetsream settings. Any idea how to do this?
Your help would be MUCH MUCH appreciated.August 6, 2010 at 7:05 am #88206In reply to: BuddyPress.org’s Unified Search – How can I get it?

Participant@intimez – good info – thanks.
I also came across this code: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/removing-members-ability-invite-others-to-a-group/#post-48304
Which promises to hide the “invite friend” links (haven’t had success yet…)–
Or you can create a child theme that removes the links from your template… Though really, I agree the system should be more set up like this:
Public — anything goes
Private — only mods and admins can INVITE (not just approve)
Hidden — same as private – only others can’t seeCheers

MemberThank you @intimez! I’ve been looking off an on for two weeks and never found that thread. Was going crazy.
Turns out it had to do with blocking search engines. Turned that off and it works fine. Never would have realized that until I came out of development so thanks for the link!
Also, following your link to the end, I came across the fix that was posted (in case you haven’t seen it): https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset/3153
