This is one of those crazy things because of the merger of bbpress with buddypress… you can turn off the ability to reply to these forum posts in the buddypress sidebar of the dashboard under “general settings” Turn off “Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts?”. This will keep your forums focused, but will encourage responses by showing the post in the activity stream… it’s the best solution we “got”… so far anyway.

You might like adding “site:codex.buddypress.org” to refine your search in Google.

@brajesh Is there anyway to get the unified search to also search the Activity Stream? Seems like a lot of people are asking and nobody has a clear cut way to do it yet. My site now has hundreds of updates with some pretty good threads that we can’t search via the site.

any word on when this will be fixed? I am building my first install of buddypress and not being able to access the codex is really frustrating. Thank god I did all of my wordpress customization before getting to buddypress or I would have given up on the entire system.
