Hello!
@hnla I do have a feeling that the index.php in my permalinks structure is likely the issue, and it may be related to the Windows hosting that I am on. If I remove the index.php from the structure, nothing works. I will search the forums more for any related info on this.
@Chris Clayton, other things that don’t work are: The registration page, Activity page, Members page… none of them show any content… they just look like empty pages. I was expecting BP to output some dynamic content there… but again, because the permalinks are wrong, that may be the issue even though I told BP where these pages are using my permalinks structure.

Topic: Problem with editing admin’s profile

For some reason BuddyPress is showing the site name as the admin’s username (@Three Word Name). I’m not sure if I did something wrong, or if it is a BuddyPress issue. No other users have this problem.

This creates an issue with the Edit Profile link. It doesn’t like the spaces in the username so it can’t find the edit profile page. When I look at the list of users in wp-admin/users, it lists the username correctly as “admin”

Any ideas of how I can fix this?

and yes the sidebar is suppose to be on the right side and not overlapping the other content. Thank you for your help again!

The them developer has applied the changes you suggested. If you go back to the test website http://buddypress.centennialchristianchurch.com/
and view the only navigation menu pages, the website header and navigation bar are removed.

Hello,

I want to include comments from unregistered users to buddypress sitewide activity stream on my page: http://marzycielskapoczta.pl/aktywnosc

Is it even possible to do this? Right now, only comments from registered users are showing up but many users are posting comments without account.

I would be grateful for any help because I couldn’t find answer to my question anywhere.

Hi,
I have installed the default buddypress template and want to redesign my site into a site like airbnb but a simpler.
Main page has listings with category option. If you select a listing you directly go to the listing detail page. If you select a category you get listings of that category. And there is a profile page.

I want to use a plugin for listings.

My question is; to build such a site how should I proceed? Do I have to build a theme from scratch or can I use an existing one? Which process is easier and more solid.

@askwpcoach looks like you’re using a custom theme which might need to be updated. Change to bp-default theme and check if issue is resolved.

@mepierce53 could entirely be a different issue. Could be the image plugin or a custom theme, etc.

So is content with right sidebar the layout you want? http://www.powerofone.org/powerofone/integrated-action/

1. Go to dashboard menu Appearance > BP Compatibility and click on Save/Finish.

2. Have to see what method you need to use for Step 3 of the BP compatibility process.
– Open up theme’s header.php, copy content, post on pastebin.com, click submit, and post the generated URI here.
– Do the same for footer.php, index.php, page.php and sidebar.php

Is there a way to email all users when an activity is posted? I looked into the Buddypress Group Email Subscription plugin, but this would not work for me since I have the group functionality turned off.

I couldn’t find any plugins that send out notifications to all users whenever a new activity post is created. There seem to be a lot of people who have asked the same question on this forum, but an answer has yet to be posted.

Any help would be appreciated.

@ChrisClayton– its ok, yea i think i have managed to do it, yea i have noticed that its not being maintained anymore so i think i might switch to the code you suggested,

but then i was thinking of maybe getting rid of the nav bar alltogether on the welcome page but have looked how to do it, and can’t figure out how to do it.

I’m not sure I understand you, but you may need to copy index.php file from /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/index.php to your child theme, ie: /wp-content/themes/default-child/index.php and edit it there.

I have the BuddyPress Package for my site. The problem is when I click on activity, members, and groups the sidebar with the RSS feeds and everything gets pushed down the bottom and messes up my footer. I think its a CSS problem but how do I fix it? Here is the link http://www.powerofone.org/powerofone/member-area/activity/

I am using the Evolution 1.1 Theme. Buddy Press is not compatible and needs to be tweaked. It is telling me to go into the template files and look at the HTML of my page.php for my main theme and structure my BuddyPress pages to that structure. Well when I look at the files they look completely different and most of the div tags look the same to me.

Another technique!.

I haven’t tried it but https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/codestyling-localization/ should be buddypress compatible and might make things easier….

Although Poedit is quite easy to use

You shouldn’t have two files named style.css however you could rename the old style.css to old.css and import it into the buddypress child of bp default theme.

To create a child of bp-default theme, create a new directory in your themes subfolder ie: /wp-content/themes/shinshan/ and in it put a simple text file named style.css

At the very top of style.css put something like the following:
`/*
Theme Name: shinshan
Theme URI: http://example.org/themes/shinshan/
Description: shinshan theme for BuddyPress.
Version: 1.0
Author: shinshan
Author URI: http://example.org/
Template: bp-default
Tags: buddypress, two-column, grey, dark
*/`
You could copy and paste the css (without the Theme head section) from your old theme immediately below that header or use the following line:
```
@import url( old.css );
```
(presuming the above file is renamed and in the current folder). Then preview or activate your new bp-default child theme.

I suspect that importing the css might cause more problems than it solves – but it depends on what you have in it….

To find out what needs to be changed, webpages can be examined with firebug (download) in firefox, or developer tools in internet exlorer 8/9 and Chrome (press f12 on windows)…
