ParticipantI meant, is there a way to link to the last active post In the Forum Index (i.e. outside of the forum loop)
I remember this discussion on bbpress.org – but i don’t recall the solution, if there is one.
The buttons do need a slight change for my bbcode plugin.
Add Avatar to BP Forum Extras – Forum Index
widget which would display ‘forums’ without many details, like description, but simply a list with forums names
All Updated in the development version – 0.1.9b2
Also added to dev is a new subplugin: Activity Comments on Forum Posts

KeymasterOn the roadmap for post-1.3, the team is going to look at WordPress user roles with a view to integrating them.

ParticipantI absolutely love the members plugin from Justin. It could potentially be the perfect solution to this problem. I also run communities of 50k-200k members, and have hundreds of moderators. The idea of giving any of them admin access is a non-starter for me. That is the primary reason I have not switched those sites from vb to wp yet.

KeymasterOnce you’ve done what Bowe has said.
You will need to know how to use SVN or you can use a SVN client.
If you’re using Windows, TortoiseSVN is the most popular SVN program..
Here’s a nice tutorial for Tortoise:

ParticipantWell, I didn’t mention most of the current user role management plugins as they are mostly not aware of the site admin role and the subtleties therein.

ParticipantYour regualr WP dashboard is used primarily for blog-specific features. You still need it to write blog posts & pages, moderate blog comments, and admin your site.
BP only controls the social networking portions and displays it on the frontend only.

ParticipantYou should have a WordPress account and then go to:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/add/
Submit your plugin, and it will get added to the repository after it has been approved.. this will take a short while

ParticipantDid you create a directory ‘bb-attachments’ one level above your WP root as per the instructions here?

Participanthttps://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/forum-attachments-for-buddypress/ – you can upload different file types … images, swf, etc.
edit- depends on what kind of attachment site admin allows, of course.

rich! @ etiviti
Participantdepends on how you have it setup – deep integration is needed to pull in buddypress adminbar into bbpress.
technically it is hooked on

ParticipantI use BuddyPress Links (0.3.2) on my site (http://lwees.com) and I like the outcome, check it out and let me know.

ParticipantThis might also be a great solution here: http://justintadlock.com/archives/2009/09/17/members-wordpress-plugin
I think it’s easily extensible, for example gravity forms uses it’s power:
Role Management Integration
Gravity Forms is compatible with Justin Tadlock’s Members plugin for role management. Have granular control over what users can and can’t do within Gravity Forms.

Participant“Role Scoper” plugin looks promising and seems like it would fit the bill. Also, the author states that the plugin api “provides some extensions to support integration with other plugins”.
What think you? Would this be compatible with BP?

ParticipantI agree there is a need for a user role just under Site Admin.
I don’t think the BP team needs to address it though. I also think it should be plugin based.
User roles internal to WordPress are due for an overhaul, but it’s been pushed back a bit.
You could sort of tackle this via the Menus plugin for MU. That’d be a bit kludgey though.

KeymasterThat’s not an offiical BP site. Those functions were removed in BP 1.2; you’re best off using WP functions to get whatever blog info you need.

ParticipantMost of all, I would like to see:
– BuddyPress Album+
– Welcome Pack
…in the “good plugins” list. Many of the other BP-crashing plugins don’t even work
Now which is better: not working at all in BP 1.2.x or BP crashing in 1.2.x? I say: not working at all may be better for BuddyPress reception – because it is clear that the problem is a plugin problem and not BuddyPress. The first time I got a “white-out” I was frustrated with BP, didn’t immediately think of the plugin developers.
My offer to bring this a step further: for “Welcome Pack” and “BuddyPress Album+” – based on an hourly rate of $60 and the 5 minutes needed to correct the plugin, I will donate $5 via PayPal each if they get corrected by the end of the month (2 or 3 days). Even though I have already updated to BP 1.2.3 by deactivating those plugins temporarily.

ParticipantI’d be curious to hear more about what people miss about the bbPress admin panel. If it’s about activating plugins, I’m afraid that access to bb-admin.php won’t do any good. If the plugin is compatible with BP, then you should be able to put it in the WP plugin dir and activate it. But chances are good that it won’t be, as BP and bbPress are very different at the level of the template. bbPress plugins, at least the ones that have big surface effects, need to be rewritten to some extent to be compatible.
It was about activating plugins. At the time I wrote this post, I had no idea that the bbPress in BuddyPress was so different than the stand-alone bbPress. It’s clear now that the best approach is to adapt existing bbPress plugins to BuddyPress Forums, or write new ones.

ParticipantThanks Ray:) You’re right I rarely do come in here as all I ever hear is problems, lol:)
@heathj85 – Make sure you installed it correctly. Meaning that there was a bp-chat/config/bp-chat-config.php file created and it’s contents are right. If not you would get this error as well. But few people do. Although reasons you might get it are:
1. You don’t allow table creation for the wordpress user/password in wp-config
2. You didn’t chmod 777 the config directory on install
3. Your information in bp-chat-config.php is wrong or not present.
Hope that helps.
Thanks,
Dave
