Participant@blackphantom it’s the link that reads ‘Check your tweetstream settings’ in Buddypress. It redirects me to the home of the installation (Buddypress is on a subdomain):

ParticipantI can’t get to Tweetstream settings on profile pages. The link redirects me to the home of the buddypress installation, so I can’t authorize with Twitter. Ideas?

Lisa Sabin-Wilson
ParticipantIt actually covers 1.2 — Really, the only thing that didn’t make it into the book is the mention about the ability to use it on .Org as well as MU — but the basics of using BP are the same either way, so in the grand scheme – it was a minor omission when compared to the massive changes that did make into the book for 1.2. It was quite a challenge keeping up w/ BP development during the writing of the book no doubt – – big props to Andy with helping me stay up to date and as current as possible; while doing a fab job tech editing the book

Keeping up w/ fast dev. in print is a challenge for any publishing company or author. My hope is that it is helpful to anyone who gets their hands on it.

ParticipantThanks for the suggestion + info Erich73. I sent him an email.
EDIT: He already answered:
Unfortunately I don’t have a good answer for you. Buddypress already works like P2 in so many ways – have you had a look at BuddyPress 1.2?
My best suggestion is just to dig through the source, especially the javascript and php -> javascript files. They’d leave you with the best clue.
Although, I think BuddyPress probably has all of your needs covered.
Dead end…

MemberYou led me to the solution. I hadn’t really thought of it as a lightbox … but more of a flash menu. After you said that, I tried deactivating my wp super cache.. same result.. and then my ‘Lightbox 2’ plugin. Voila! I had forgot that in the midst of playing with BuddyPress, I had updated 2 or 3 plugins… that being one of them.
All is well again. Thx for the tip!

ParticipantSince you know about the activity stream, is it possible you could help answer a question?
My fresh install of wp + bp (all latest releases) does not succeed in writing activity records. Running on Win2k8, MySQL 5.1.4.2, php 5.2.11, IIS 7. Any ideas?

ParticipantTried that, too, figuring the same thing. Repeatedly switching back and forth between the options didn’t help.

Anyone know enough about the Buddypress theme options or WordPress MU debugging to help me figure out how to troubleshoot this? I think I’ve hit all the preliminaries, and might need to start looking at some log files.

KeymasterRe: dropdown… are you talking about that lightbox thingy?
That doesn’t seem to be BuddyPress-related.
Also, I would try deactivating WP Super Cache and deleting any cached items you may have.

ParticipantUnfortunately you will have to delete the old data from
wp_bp_activity_metaandwp_usermetabefore installing the new version. Sorry guys, it’s so new I don’t have an upgrade routine! You can do this using phpMyAdmin or similar.
Grab the new version here: http://www.alexhemptonsmith.com/downloads/bp-like.zip

ParticipantI’ve just put out a new version which allows you to view who else has liked it.
@modemlooper: I will be building in notifications next, but it looks like I have to make the plugin a full blown component to leverage the notifications functionality… :S

Participantustream/watershed does allow embeds…but we use it to embed video players and chat boxes directly for live, interactive video chat sessions with large groups.
Point it…it’s not a URL, it’s the actual embed code…so I’m thinking that this plugin might not be the answer, no?
Ideally, the video could be embedded in the News section…but that is flexible. It just needs to be somewhere obvious and clear so students can easily watch and participate.
Somewhere between this and the Links plugin should be a way to make this work…

ModeratorThis would be good if it notified the poster of content that you liked something. The favorite to me is more for a user to bookmark content.

Oh, didn’t know about the Group Documents. Obviously haven’t used it but looks good. Could there possibly be an upside with a google docs option? There are 1 GB free storage, really good editors, folder structure asf. I think it would be a real killer!

But, do you think it would have made more sense to take advantage of BP’s already-available favorite button?

Ok. I put this on .htaccess and it comes back with 500 internal server error.
Now, not only buddypress but also WordPress does not work.
The whole site is tangled with 500 error.
If I delete .htaccess, WP works but BP comes with 404 error.
