Participant.S.: I’m using bbPress with BuddyPress….and I’m referring to the ability for the “updates” people make ~directly~ to the group front page — not updates they make in forums elsewhere that populate in the Activity Stream automatically.
I think, I got the solution!

Moderatorbuddypress\bp-themes\is deprecated any only included for legacy installs.Your child theme structure seems okay.
But try using the register templates from herebuddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\members\in your child theme.September 23, 2018 at 9:20 am #276662In reply to: DIrect messaging problem

ParticipantSame problem here.
And: I won’t get an ajax recommendation by entering @username in the field with bp-nouveau.It seems to be a problem with the “bp-nouveau” theme.
With the old standard-theme, it works!BuddyPress 3.2.0

Prashant Singh
ParticipantHi,
These are only allowed to admins, please check this https://codex.buddypress.org/administrator-guide/group-settings-and-roles/
If you want to do it for moderator, then you have to add capabilities using custom code which seems a bit tough right now.
Thanks

ParticipantSeptember 21, 2018 at 5:13 pm #276633In reply to: recover accidentally deleted user profile field
heikesworld
ParticipantSorry I posted this in the wrong category before… I accidentally deleted a user profile field that took me hours to create (it included all countries of the world). Is there any way to recuperate it?
There should definitely be a double check for deleting these things, a note asking me if I really want to delete it.
I can see in this thread https://buddypress.org/support/topic/how-do-i-find-custom-profile-field-database-entries/ that there is a file called wp_bp_xprofile_data table, I have contacted my hosting provider and they have made a backup of my site. Where would they find this table? What would I have to replace in the current setup? The whole buddypress plugin? A file in the plugin folder? Can I import it to my current site? It would be best if I don’t have to revert the whole site to a previous version as I have done changes to it. Please please answer quickly!!! Thank you!!!!September 21, 2018 at 12:42 pm #276630aldorr
ParticipantYou can try placing this in the functions.php of your Child Theme. Though for buddypress you might want to use
bp_get_profile_field_datainstead ofxprofile_get_field_data.
I’m trying to do something similar, but the fields are not showing up in my email. I have a feeling the email is getting sent before the database is updated, but for the life of me, I can’t get them… Good luck!September 20, 2018 at 11:46 pm #276623In reply to: Register Form Button Doesn’t Work

KeymasterYou’re using the Kleo theme. Can you try another theme to see if it is a problem with Kleo?

KeymasterYou should post on the bbPress forums and not BuddyPress.
https://bbpress.org/forumsbbPress handles forums and BuddyPress handles the community aspect (profiles, groups, etc).

KeymasterLooks like the same problem as this user:
That user is also using the Kleo theme.
What happens when you change your theme to something else like Twenty Seventeen or another WordPress default theme?

Layo_BCN
ParticipantHi,
We have already been changing to the WordPress theme and the same thing happens, when you finish entering the data in the registration and registration update fields, the page is reloaded and loads the same registration page with the fields already completed just missing the password. , and it is put back and repeated in bukle.
He also tested on another web that we have with another theme and deactivating all the plugins and still presenting the same error.
in the Main web we use BuddyPress Version 3.2.0 and in the other one that we have tested we have Version 3.1.0I hope I can solve the situation for elelvamso two weeks without receiving user registrations since our potential partners are always conceded by the mobile and we usually receive more than 10 weekly registration.
So it is URGENT that you can register to BuddyPress by mobile device.

ParticipantI installed this plugin and all PM spam stopped ever since. It requires a person to be your friend before they can PM you. https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-private-message-for-friends-only/
DL
ParticipantI just tried disabling BuddyPress PM’s but any member can still send public messages to any other member which still results in an email notification sent out, so a spammer could still use that.
DL
Participant@prashantvatsh Thanks, I didn’t realize that every user could see the /members page and then if they click to a members profile they see the public and private messaging buttons too.
It seems that every new registration on the site automatically becomes a Buddypress member. So then they can see the membership list and message any other user without being a member of any group.
This isn’t good, easy for manual spammers to register and send PM spam to members.

ParticipantThis seems to be a plugin conflict. Please leave BuddyPress installed and check by disabling other plugins to see which one created the issue.
Thanks

ParticipantHi,
If you are able to retrieve those fields then you can easily show them on members’s profile. You just have to override profile template from Buddypress in your child them then just fetch and echo out these values in proper HTML.
Thanks
DL
ParticipantI just started using Buddypress on a site and the Buddypress members all got a PM from a new user HARIATTA11 that registered this morning.
What I don’t understand is how the new member, a subscriber with no group memberships (both buddypress groups are private) was able to PM everyone? Where did they see the members list to know all the usernames?
September 19, 2018 at 6:44 pm #276579christelijkpodium
ParticipantHey @aubreyw, I know that you can restrict pages with BuddyPress using MemberTypes.
I believe this is the plugin that handles that: https://buddydev.com/plugins/buddypress-member-types-pro/
You can then give certain member types access to specific pages. So a persons member type will determine which pages they can see.

KeymasterBuddyPress just uses the oEmbed providers that WordPress uses:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds#oEmbedSo to only use WordPress and Vimeo, disable all the other oEmbed providers by WordPress. Not sure if there is a plugin to do that natively, but there is a brief description under the “Removing Support for An oEmbed-Enabled Site” section on the codex page I linked to above.
