Slava Abakumov
ModeratorUse Codestyle Localization (CL) plugin. Just operate with BuddyPress in CL like with any other file.
Update files, then translate them. That’s all.

ParticipantThanks!
I followed both your steps and I saw the post I created in my activity stream and I now see the blog in the blog directory.
Except … if I go to the blog author, it still says she hasn’t created any public blogs, but I see three of her posts from that blog when I click on the Recent Posts link. So it hasn’t totally connected her with the blog yet.

KeymasterTry toggling public/private on that blog setting on and off. Something else is to make a test post on that blog (and see if that refreshes the BuddyPress display or not).

ParticipantJust upgraded to buddypress 1.1 beta and I can say that it is really great! With the 1 click integration with bbpress, it is really good! But 1 question, can I use this 1-click integration to create a site wide forum just like here in buddypress.org, wherein the forum is not just a collection of all forum posts from the different forums used in buddypress components (primarily in Groups). Hope you could help me out on how to do this. Thanks in advance!

ParticipantOkay, let’s go back to the basics. Just so that we have all the initial information required, please answer these questions.

Inactiveusing WPMU 2.8.4a + 1.1-beta + Atahualpa 3.4.2 theme
I deleted the old bp-themes, and moved the 2 folders to /themes/
I am having issues similar to @driz’s (https://buddypress.org/blog/news/buddypress-1-1-beta/#comments):
1. When I select my atahualpa theme as active, I get the message
You do not have any BuddyPress themes installed.
Please move the default BuddyPress themes to their correct location (move /…/html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/ to /…/html/wp-content/bp-themes/) and reload this page.
I can still see my main blog (with the atahualpa look), but when I choose to open /members or /groups etc, I get redirected to Home
2. When I select bp-default as the active theme, everything works fine, but I obviously don;t have my customized look-and-feel I had with atahualpa
How do I make atahualpa work again?

ParticipantThanks. Excuse the non-coder questions, but should bp_profile_group_tabs() ?> be added (it’s not in bp-sn-parent) and in which profile php file?
I notice bp_profile_group_tabs() is in profiles/edit.php. This chunk of code caught my eye as being perfect for the main profile page (as opposed to the edit screen):
<?php get_header() ?>
<div class=”content-header”>
<ul class=”content-header-nav”>
<?php bp_profile_group_tabs(); ?>
</div>
Could that be added to the main profile php file?

Participant@wordpressfan thanks, just a fun project…
1. in the profile field setup create a new group – add items, then bp_profile_group_tabs() ?> does the rest.
2. bp_the_site_member_link() ?>album works perfectly

Participant* You’ve deleted all the content (visible and invisible) from your root folder
– Have not done this, but I did create a new subdirectory and installed WPMu in that location.
* Your using a blank DB that has a different name, username, and password from any that you’ve used before
– Check.
* You’ve cleared your browser’s cache
– I’ve done this with previous testing, but not with this new install. I’ll try that.
* You’ve downloaded a new copy of WPMU and installed it, creating brand new wp-config and .htaccess files
– Check.
* You’ve downloaded the newest BuddyPress trunk (if running bleeding edge). If using a tagged version of BP, then you’ve downloaded that version again to have a fresh, clean copy. You then manually install BP and then activate it.
– Check (revision 1903, as noted).
* You have no other themes installed in wp-contents (other than the default WPMU and BP themes)
– Check.
* You have no other plugins except BP (and possibly the default plugins that come with WPMU)
– Check.

So, it seems that clearing my browser cache and clearing the root folder might be the only issues. I’m imagining that the latter assumes I’ve installed in root, which I haven’t; I have a single-user WP blog there that’s not going anywhere. I could install to my local machine (which I’m likely to do anyway), but that wouldn’t seem to invalidate this particular phenomenon.
As to browser cache, I’ve cleared that before without affecting results, and will do so now; but that would seem to suggest it’s not critical. I’ll leave a note after I’ve tested it, though (don’t want to while replying, for obvious reasons).

Participant@Burkie: snaps is an interesting forum. I’m building something similar for journalists. A couple questions:
1. How did you display profile field groups beyond “base” ? I never see those displayed, except when logged-in as admin or by the profile-owner.
2. What do you use to create a portfolio link to photos? I have a number of photographers and offering a portfolio would be a popular feature.

ParticipantExactly my point. I prefer the profile page designs chosen by buddypress.org and profiles.wordpress.org – they’ve removed the “Me” and “My Profile” columns in favor of a sub-menu in one case and base data under the former “Me” column in another.
Are there any examples of how BuddyPress sites are diverting from the default profile styling?

ParticipantLooks good.
Sidenote: font-family:”swister-1″,”swister-2″; if the user doesn’t have these fonts the computer replaces them with something “similar” and sometimes the results is not what you would like. On my screen the font it replaces with is hard to read.

September 19, 2009 at 4:36 pm #52751Jeff Sayre
ParticipantOkay, I’m just checking to make sure that we are on the same page. What exactly do you mean by “virgin setup”. Is everything brand, spanking new?
To me, a virgin install is this:
- You’ve deleted all the content (visible and invisible) from your root folder
- Your using a blank DB that has a different name, username, and password from any that you’ve used before
- You’ve cleared your browser’s cache
- You’ve downloaded a new copy of WPMU and installed it, creating brand new wp-config and .htaccess files
- You’ve downloaded the newest BuddyPress trunk (if running bleeding edge). If using a tagged version of BP, then you’ve downloaded that version again to have a fresh, clean copy. You then manually install BP and then activate it.
- You have no other themes installed in wp-contents (other than the default WPMU and BP themes)
- You have no other plugins except BP (and possibly the default plugins that come with WPMU)
Also, it does not hurt to clear your Apache and PHP error logs so that you can easily see any errors specific to your new install.

Participant@jeff, “Favorite Status: Add this topic to your favorites (?)” link. When you click on it it adds to your favorite. How do you manage it? You have to go to bbpress profile instead of the buddypress profile. I’m changed all my links trying not have the user go to bbpress profile because it’s confusing have two profile pages. I would like to be able to manage the favorites in the buddypress profile not bbpress.

ParticipantYou are talking about the saving of forum threads. This should be asked/suggested in the bbPress support forums. Even though bbPress is utilized by BuddyPress, it still is its own, separate plugin.
