    Sounds like your buddypress directories aren’t there. Can you ftp into the site and see buddypress in your plugins directory under “wp-content”?

    Have you done any recent administration on the site? Major changes, minor tweaks?

    Update: There’s no buddypress option menu in the admin panel. I’m logged in as admin!

    Dear friends, I need your help urgently on the issue I’ve began facing on a live site. Whenever I go to the site domain, I get following error:-

    Warning: require(BP_PLUGIN_DIR/bp-core/bp-core-signup.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /nfs/c04/h03/mnt/65663/domains/<snipped>/html/wp-content/themes/bphome/functions.php on line 70

    Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘BP_PLUGIN_DIR/bp-core/bp-core-signup.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php-5.2.6-1/share/pear’) in /nfs/c04/h03/mnt/65663/domains/<snipped>/html/wp-content/themes/bphome/functions.php on line 70

    The site was running fine with Buddypress 1.0 stable release and WPMU 2.7.1.

    Following are few observations I made:

    1. I can login to admin panel.

    2. “Plugins” section is missing from the menu options.

    3. In the wordpress footer in the admin panel, I don’t see version number. I know its 2.7.1

    Questions:

    1. How do I fix this? Need urgent help!

    2. Is this a hacking attempt? As the site was running perfectly fine earlier.

    You are linking to a thread that is three months old. Much has changed since then. For instance, BuddyPress now runs in /plugins/– not /mu-plugins.

    Also, as r-a-y has pointed out, once you activate BP site wide, there is a new menu grouping in WPMU admin called “BuddyPress”. It is located at the very bottom of then menu grouping column.

    The ability to promote a group member to admin is in the works for version 1.1!

    BuddyPress is site-wide.

    The BuddyPress menu does not reside under the “Site Admin” menu, it is a top-level menu.

    Don’t let the placement of the menus fool you.

    I have an issue with my Members page (http://inspiredev.net/members). It doesn’t seem to be working anymore. I added custom permalinks and after that I discovered my blog page was no longer working. After reactivating the default setting for permalinks, my members page is no longer working. It seems like I can go back and forth between custom/default and one of the two will begin/stop working again.

    Is this a bug?

    Hey,

    I’m relatively new to BuddyPress and I’m making an Alumni site for my highschool.

    I would like to know how to change the “Blog” link in the navbar to “News” or any other text.

    I was able to get user discussion to work on all previous versions of BP that I tried. For instance wpmu 2.7.1, BP1 & bbpress alpha 6.

    I had user integration & group discussion working perfectly. Then, when I upgrade to BP 1.0.2, groups break. User integration is still fine, but group discussion won’t work.

    The only plugins I have installed are BuddyPress & buddypress-enable in forums. I’ve deactivated/enabled all plugins & components. Saved and resaved all settings. Made sure all xml settings are turned on.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks!!

    So I install these pages into my new theme?

    In my WPMU, there is no site admin for BP. It isn’t there. The buddypress setting for each blog is there, but no site admin options.

    Hey wftman,

    It really depends on the developer of the BP plugin in question.

    The readme.txt that comes with the plugin is usually the best indicator of where to place the plugin.

    There is a BuddyPress menu in the WPMU admin area, but it would be good to know what you mean by “and it sucks that I have to make changes every time there is a blog”.

    Re: Pressbox theme… check out the default “bphome” theme, especially the functions.php file. You’ll probably want to copy over some of the functions into the Pressbox theme functions.php file.

    Hope that helps in some way!

    In the download section I have read that you have to place the buddypress into /plugins, but had read another post where someone said to place the plugins in /Mu-plugins.

    Where exactly do I place the Bp plugins? I have placed them in plugins and activated them sitewide. It seems to work, but I was wondering if it works if I place it in MU-plugins.

    Another question: Is there any site admin options for BP? I have an MU of 60 blogs, and it sucks that I have to make changes every time there is a blog.

    Also, is there a site admin _—-> BP menu? It says that there is in the installation page, but I have yet to see it or know what I can do with it.

    Last question: I am using the pressbox theme, and I am planning to transfer register and activate.php to the theme. Are there any other files I have to transfer.

    Thanks for everyone’s time. This rocks!

    the image files are in /bp-core/images in your buddypress plugin directory.I will recommend you to edit these files rather messing with css. If you wanna edit css its also in bp-core directory.

    Sorry about that – You didn’t mention what version of bbPress you were using and I assumed that since you were in an old post, you were using the old version. I’m working on a tutorial (or will be the second I get this sucker to work) My suggestion at this moment would be to follow my tutorial for installing the alpha 6 version. And then upgrade it using r-a-y’s instructions at this post. I know it’s not the greatest answer but for now, it’s all I can personally offer. Hopefully someone will have a tutorial up shortly. LOL

    Hi mohitkro5,

    It sounds like you’re trying to use WordPress shortcodes in Buddypress fields.

    Where are you trying to embed your videos?

    BuddyPress doesn’t allow WordPress shortcodes to work in profile fields, wire posts and group forum posts.

    bbPress has a few plugins to parse videos.

    Hi, thanks. Tried this, Still same problem. I activated plugin (tried both locations).

    The thread https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=3444 imply that no buddypress support plugin is required.

    All this a bit confusing. Isn’t there a full install/integration tutorial available for ver 1?

    THANKS A LOT to Burt Adsit. It was a problem inside wp-config.php.

    before:

    —

    define(‘ADMIN_COOKIE_PATH’, ‘/’);

    define(‘COOKIE_DOMAIN’, ”);

    define(‘COOKIEPATH’, ”);

    define(‘SITECOOKIEPATH’, ”);

    after (see slashes in last two lines):

    —

    define(‘ADMIN_COOKIE_PATH’, ‘/’);

    define(‘COOKIE_DOMAIN’, ”);

    define(‘COOKIEPATH’, ‘/’);

    define(‘SITECOOKIEPATH’, ‘/’);

    Thanks Burt

    One of the things I noticed about his site is that group forums aren’t turned on. That means that he’s running the default wp-config.php settings for cookies and not the altered settings that bbpress integration creates.

    Hmmm…

    Perhaps the bp setcookie() calls were written just assuming some wp-config.php defines for cookies that aren’t present on his site.

    Ilya is correct about not having the ability to delegate.admin powers to a moderator. This is a very crucial issue. In a large community, people come and go. Their interests and time change. So say someone creates a group. They by default become an administrator. That means they are the only one to have the following powers in a group:

    • Group Settings
      Group Avatar
      Manage Members (i.e. bump them to moderators)
      Delete Group

    So if we play out this scenario, and the administrator has fallen off the radar, the group settings from public to private to hidden cannot be changed except by the Buddypress site admin. The Buddypress site admin can elevate members to moderators but they CANNOT add an adminstrator, as far as I can determine. The Buddypress site admin can delete the group but the only way to “delegate” administrator powers would be to follow this scenario:
    Appoint a moderator willing to take over. Have them create a new group, and then do a mass invite to join that new group via a news post or a friends invite.

    Can a administrator be changed at the db level? Not sure.

    What about asking the group administrator to exercise their option to ‘leave a group?’ I have no idea what that would do to the db and the Buddypress system. I’m hoping Andy or Jeff might chime in here on this odd possible outcome.

    Cheers,
    Brian
