The group forums keep disappearing then reappearing after you refresh the page a few times. Also the formatting is not working. You tags all over the posts like [p][/p] etc…

gwsa, you don’t have access to the wp themes? Site Admin > Themes > Activate some on that list. Then Appearance > Themes > All those you activated should be available for selection.
dawnsinger, the universal blog theme is the theme that lives in /wp-content/themes/default. All blog themes are wordpress themes.

Andy — I’m probably just missing it in the documentation somewhere, but my user-created blogs are showing up as default WordPress themes. How/where do I set a universal member BLOG theme?
Thanks,
J
Like others, it seems the search is the weakest part of BuddyPress (which is suprising since this is the most important feature of any community). Right now, if someone has a title of CEO, for example, as long as you type CEO in the search box, it will find a person who has CEO as their title. But if you put CEO and a space, it will not find anybody.
At least, the current search function should trim spaces until a decent search plugin becomes available. So, my question is where is the search function so I can at least hack it a bit to make it work better?
For the members widget when you click on active or popular the list remains the same. This never worked
For the recent blog posts, it seems that 3 posts from one of our members is stuck at the top of the list. The two posts under him keep updating but his won’t budge.

Go to My Blogs (Admin Dashboard) >> BuddyPress (bottom left column) >> Profile Field Setup >> Add New Field (or Group)
Is there a way to keep members out of regular behind-the-scenes admin areas entirely?
I had to request a new password for a test user. When you go through the process you’ll end up at a profile page in the admin area that is very different from the other profile editing options on the site.
The regular admin area doesn’t show X-profile data, so no full name, only that annoying username – I use the email login plugin. Of course the layout is very different, unless you go through the trouble of customizing the admin area to fit the front of the site.
What is Buddypress approach to this? Is it possible to completely close the back end for users? Will you cover all the account editing the user needs in the front of the site?
I found this plugin: Weasel’s Login Redirect, but it hasn’t been updated since 2007. This is what I need though:
Redirects user login attempts from going to your dashboard! Great for keeping the ‘back end’ private. Also allows alteration of the login/logout link text.
This one could be a solution: Peter’s Login Redirect. The name instills confidence.

This should really be in the readme, forums are a huge part of social networking, and I will be developing a tightly integrated BuddyPress and bbPress application over the next few months. I’m sure you will see a lot of questions from me, and I look forward to helping out along the way.
irc… another thing I’ve never gotten into…… sorry for being so slow in adapting.
It seems my plugin is now listed correctly on the WP plugins AND I can upload changes to the trunk with Tortoise! Yay for technology!
One last question regarding the plugin repository. I see some folks have an image (avatar) for their plug-in both in BuddyPress plugins list and WordPress’…. how do I go about adding one?
I was wondering when you were gonna get around to this.
You should join us on the bp irc channel. Help others and get help. Bring your sense of humor.

Hi Milan,
Thanks for the code. Where would I paste this code to allow me to show the 5 topics on my default buddypress home theme (guessing I would have to create a widget?)
ok, i started from 0 again, its my 4th day trying to make it work, 8 hours day, I am FRUSTRATED, now:
bbpress alpha 6
BP 1.0.1
wordpress mu 2.7.1
I followed ALL the steps in this post (https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=471&page=5), I know them by heart already, users are shared in bbpress and wordpress, if i log on as admin in wordpress i am logged in also in bbpress, cookies seem to work but….
…still not able to create a group with forum, nothing is updated in bbpress after creating the group, i think its because of cookies but I did ALL as commented so I am REALLY lost
((
so bbpress alpha 6 doesnt work for me, i tried rc1 and rc3 also
i hope, its the most difficult installation ever
after expending 4 days to integrate buddypress bbpress and wordpress mu with no luch it makes Drupal easy
Uhm… I just joined and left a group for testing and all that shows up on the activities is blank space. In the feed, there is just an empty item with only the date set. Additionally, this error showed up when I left the group:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_group_avatar_thumb() in /[path to WPMU]/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-templatetags.php on line 309
The dev programming channel moved to #buddypress-dev people.
I have a peculiar problem: I signed up a test user and named it something. Oddly enough, the name wasn’t saved. Oh well, I thought, and entered it by editing my profile.
Then I signed up another user. This time the name showed up! Only it wasn’t the name I had in mind for that user – it was the name I had entered for the previous user, where the name hadn’t been saved!
Strange, I thought, and tried again. Only to see the same thing happen again. When I register, I get the name of the previous registrant, and the name I enter is saved for the next person who registers.
It keeps happening when I register some more.
Any ideas?
I’m running:
* WordPress MU 2.7.1
* BuddyPress 1.0.1
* Twitter for WordPress 1.9.4
* Community Blogs 0.42
* WordPress.com Stats 1.4
Ok, I really want to know it. It is already a test for me.
What, if this happens to me on a live site. I want to handle this error without loosing the running installation.
I deleted all buddypress files and renewed all with a fresh download of buddypress. The error is still there.
The same I did with mu. I deleted all mu files except the wp-content folder.
but the error still accursed.
So I think it must be the db.
I tried to change my password from the admin aria, there I can change my password without problem.
But from the profile site, I get a blank page.
Some idea ?
Hi
I’m trying to change my members widget to display recently active members on page load rather than the newest members. I think for any new website it is desirable to show recently active as newest users can look a little ‘unused’
I found this post http://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2244#post-12171
and I’ve made the below change to bp-core-widgets.php. This does display members according to how recently active they were but unfortunately it shows ALL users as being ‘not recently active’, no matter if they were active 10 secs ago.
if ( !$users = wp_cache_get( ‘active_users’, ‘bp’ ) ) {
$users = BP_Core_User::get_active_users( $options[‘max_members’] );
wp_cache_set( ‘active_users’, $users, ‘bp’ );
}
?>
<?php if ( $users[‘users’] ) : ?>
<div class=”item-options” id=”members-list-options”>
<img id=”ajax-loader-members” src=”<?php echo $bp->core->image_base ?>/ajax-loader.gif” height=”7″ alt=”<?php _e( ‘Loading’, ‘buddypress’ ) ?>” style=”display: none;” />
” id=”newest-members”><?php _e( ‘Newest’, ‘buddypress’ ) ?> |
” id=”recently-active-members” class=”selected”><?php _e( ‘Active’, ‘buddypress’ ) ?> |
” id=”popular-members”><?php _e( ‘Popular’, ‘buddypress’ ) ?>
</div>
I’ve looked at templatetags.php and widget-members.js as Burt suggested but can’t figure out what change to make.
can anyone help?
Thanks
I’m using I’m using WPMU 2.7.1 BP 1.0.1 and BBPress 1.0-alpha-6 and BP default theme
I have developed a BuddyPress theme for bbPress. You can download the same from following link:
http://manojkumar.org/buddypress-theme-for-bbpress/
Have Fun!
Hi Manoj,
How can you tell? I though the buddypress was installed correctly. It did take me 2 go and I was happy with it. I thought the next part was where the error was.
Thanks,
@ thestasi : It seems even your BuddyPress not setup properly. So please go one step at a time
