    @gwsa

    where do you host your site? Just in case other bp users face the same nightmare when choosing the host…

    I’ve never seen this problem, my install just works properly. Make sure you disable all other plugins but bp when solving this problem.

    Do you have any plugins, other than BuddyPress installed and activated. If so, try temporarily deactivating them all and see if the problem goes away. Please report back here.

    gwsa – because this is not a BuddyPress bug. It’s something to do with your setup, hence the reason no one else has had the problem.

    Are you sure you don’t have any crazy re-write rules or symlinks for your themes folder?

    Also tried upping to 1.0.2. No fix.

    Burt,

    With BP Deactivated:

    Site Admin -> Themes, 7 Installed, 4 Active (all WP Themes)

    Appearance -> Themes, 4 to choose from

    As soon as I activate BP:

    Site Admin -> Themes, 3 Installed, 0 active (all BP Themes)

    Appearance -> Themes, ZERO to choose from

    Did you move the new theme files that come with BuddyPress into their proper location? Look in the /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/ and make sure that there is not a /bp-themes/ directory.

    I just tried the whole upgrade process again and have no issue with this widget.

    Hi everyone,

    I’m installing WP Mu + BuddyPress to launch a social network to rotaract clubs here in Brazil, but my BuddyPress instalation is showing a boring bug. ShareThis is not working in ‘Site activity’ widget, causing this bug:

    Instead of showing sharethis link, apears this code -> SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: ””, url: ”” });

    What can i do to resolve it ?

    The problem can be seen in http://www.rotablogs.com.br

    @dinhluong-

    This is really not a support issue but a feature request. I would suggest filing a new enhancement request ticket in trac. You log in with the same credentials as you use on this site.

    I’m changing this thread to “not a support question”.

    OK – just the ones related to BuddyPress. Gotcha. In this case, however – I put the cart before the horse and could not longer even access the site to deactivate the bppicture-album plugin! So I just moved it out of the plugin area to another folder on the site – and I’m back in business.

    Thank you so much for your prompt replies – of course – we had told some folks to go into the new site and test it – 30 minutes later the site was GONE (LOL!).

    Thanks!

    Before automatic upgrading you need to deactivate your other plugins that rely on buddypress. It isn’t necessary to delete them.

    Whew Windhamdavid.

    OK. I just removed it – and now the site is back up and running. You just saved my bacon!

    As a result of removing it – I do see now BuddyPress isn’t installed whatsoever. Looks like a complete manual re-install (anyone agree on this?).

    I would like to see more custmization options with the BuddyPress Widgets. It’d be nice to be able to change the title on all the widgets, and to enable/disable different sorting methods (popular members sort is useless for site without friends) or at least have the site remember which sort you were using before (active more useful than the default newest members for me).

    My install of BuddyPress has Friends disabled, and I can’t to invite people into groups. Can it be switched so that if Friends are disabled site-wide that it is assumed everyone is friends with everyone?

    That’s it? Just DELETE it? That seems simple enough.

    What should I anticipate then? Forgive me – somewhat of a Buddypress newbie…

    2.7.1 version

    previously working BuddyPress 1.0.1 version

    A notice appeared on my plug-in area that said there was an upgrade to BuddyPress 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 – just click to install. I did this before to upgrade from 1.0 to 1.0.1 and it went just fine. So I did the same expecting it to run fine again.

    And BAM – it hung up for a bit, then returned an error message that said the install failed. I was still on my Admin screen at that point. But I clicked on any other area – I only see the error message:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_core_add_nav_item() in /home/ftpphoto/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bppicture-album/bp-album.php on line 134

    Visitors to the URL see this message upon entering.

    I see this when getting past the login screen too – I cannot log in to do anything now.

    The weird thing is – looking via the FTP

    I was testing a NUMBER of plug-ins – did not realize I had to disable any of them FIRST to do the upgrade to BuddyPress? I didn’t have to from 1.0 to 1.0.1. At any rate – I can’t disable them now – to try again if I can’t even get into my site?

    Please, any suggestions? http://www.puremichiganphotoclub.com

    Hi,

    I’m having a problem with comments. After submitting a comment I’m redirected to the very first post.instead of direct back to the post with the newly posted comment.

    I have deactivated Buddypress and reverted to the original theme — then it works.

    It doesn’t look to be a core problem. More looks like a Buddypress problem.

    Initially I was having a problem where adding a comment just went to a white screen: http://mysite.com/comment-page-/#comment-

    Solution to this was to drop and recreate the comment tables as per: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/249950

    Now I’m having this redirect problem.

    Can someone show me where this redirect takes place? I’d like to see it in the core files to understand better.

    All help appreciated. Is this a known issue?

    edit: additional info:

    WordPress MU 2.7.1

    BuddyPress 1.0

    simple custom theme

    bp-custom has:

    function my_bp_the_site_blog_avatar_thumb()

    function my_alter_bp_adminbar()

    function my_logout_display()

    function ftblg_bp_timezone_bug($activity)

    function my_alter_bp_adminbar_blogs_menu()

    function my_bp_core_widget_members($args)

    function my_bp_core_widget_members_control()

    Hi Jeff, I did not notice that this was marked as resolved. I still don’t know how to create a buddypress install with a cohesive theme for members. I’ve been checking every week or so to see if someone may have answered my questions about what it is I’d need to hard code. I’ll check to see which theme I modified and I’ll see if that makes a difference. I’m still looking to distill a procedure out of this that I can follow and share with others. Best, Dainis

    Thank you very much for responding. I really appreciate it.

    I am using Buddypress 1.01 width Wpmu 2.7.1 and managed to get the adminbar working great without even touching Buddypress core.

    All i actually did was to make sure I had :

    require_once('../wp-blog-header.php');

    in my bb-config.php-file, and after that i just simply added r-a-y’s code to my bb-theme functions.php file. :

    function recreate_bb_admin_bar() {

    echo '<div id="wp-admin-bar"><ul class="main-nav">';

    bp_adminbar_logo();

    bp_adminbar_login_menu();

    bp_adminbar_account_menu();

    bp_adminbar_blogs_menu();

    bp_adminbar_notifications_menu();

    bp_adminbar_authors_menu();

    bp_adminbar_random_menu();

    echo '</div>';

    }

    add_action( 'wp_footer', 'recreate_bb_admin_bar', 8 );

    add_action( 'admin_footer', 'recreate_bb_admin_bar' );

    add_action( 'wp_head', 'bp_core_admin_bar_css', 1 );

    Works just perfect. I can’t really see any need for a plugin to do this, but I guess there’s always someone who don’t manage without them. :)

    This would be a great addition to my BuddyPress installation. It would really help me build membership up.

    Doug-

    I can’t speak to the reason why the CSS was implemented this way, but it may have something to do with the fact that bphome is a default theme which can be replaced with any WordPress theme with a few tweaks here and there. So it follows the standard WP theming protocol.

    The bpmember theme, on the other hand, is unique to the BuddyPress world. As I’m sure you know, you cannot take a standard WP theme and tweak it into a custom BP member theme. Andy created the CSS coding protocols from scratch for BuddyPress member themes. Andy can speak to this more directly–and correct me if my assumptions are wrong!

    I could see a lot of value in pulling all of the color values & branding (logo) out of base.css and into branding.css

    I like this idea a lot!

    Still seeing the warnings in my logs following the 1.0.2 update:

    PHP Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #1 is not an array in /var/www/vhosts/blogs/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-xprofile/bp-xprofile-signup.php on line 261
