    In reply to: Changing the word blog

    To change the SLUG of the URL itself, you’d probably want to use:

    <?php
    define('BP_BLOGS_SLUG', 'diary');
    ?>

    Then you would want to edit the header.php file and change the word in your navigation.

    Check Customizing Labels, Messages, and URLs in the codex for a complete description.

    With the BuddyPress RC-2 now using WordPress MU 2.7.1, we’ve found that the BuddyPress Home theme shows a white screen when previewing. Themes can still be activated, they just cannot be previewed.

    This appears to be an issue with WordPress MU 2.7.1 disagreeing with the hyphen “-” in the directory name of the theme. Ticket number 965 has been opened on the WPMU Trac to alert their team to this issue.

    In the meantime, for those of you looking for a temporary solution, simply rename the directory “buddypress-home” to “buddypress_home” and you’re theme preview will work as per normal.

    Hi

    I have BuddyPress RC2/WordPRessMU 2.7.1 installed and everything seems to work just fine so far.

    I was just wondering what folder I should install any new themes in so that new members who wish to create a blog can choose from a variety of different themes.

    Also, is it safe to use standard WordPress themes?.

    Thanks, Steve

    Hi,

    Having the same issue but not managing to get through as \’Justme1\’ did. My WP install is running ok and I\’ve included other plugins but Whenever I try to activate Buddy list I get the \’wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-avatars.php on line 17\’ fatal error message.

    Downloaded and setup a new 2.7.1 WP install 2 weeks ago (my first). Added buddylist using the WP-admin ‘plugin search’ option and then also tried the zip package upload. Both instances show the same error when I try to activate.

    I\’ve added \’define(\’SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE\’, 1);\’ into the section titled \’/** The Database Collate type. Don\’t change this if in doubt. */\’ as it wasn\’t in my installation although my version was shown as 2.7.1.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi everyone

    I’ve got a fresh install of the RC2 BuddyPress and I notice that there’s no “Site Admin -> BuddyPress” in my admin section.

    Any ideas where I can change the member theme?

    Thanks

    i used properly buddypres over 1303 with branches wpmu

    now i tried to make upgrade to wpmu 2.7.1 ans bdpress rc2

    i am suffering problems with the buddypress :

    it is shown as a menu list at the footer of the template ? any idea about that

    i made a complete donwgrade to wpmu2.7 and then automatic upgrade of every thing

    (wpmu 2.7.1) and automatic installation of bdpress rc2

    i still have a problem with the budypress bar

    and also with blog upgrade button (for wpmu)

    it tells me that the server cannot find my subdomains blogs

    i made a first uprgrade tu the 2.7 branches version and bdpress trunk over 1303

    now i am making update to 2.7.1 and buddypress rc2

    (i thought it wuold be much more easy than the previous one that worked properly in fact)

    two problems :

    impossible to make the blog by blog update work properly :

    Warning! Problem upgrading http://subdomain.domain/. Your server may not be able to connect to blogs running on it.

    Error message: Couldn’t resolve host ‘subdomain.domain’

    (which a wpmu error)

    what does that mean ?

    and when installing rc2 new as a plugin

    in fact the buddypress bar is at the end of the template as a menu list not an admin bar

    this might be linked with the fact i do not manage this *$** blog update

    Great news Jeff!

    One thing I noticed on line 233 in bp-example.php is that there appears to be a syntax error:

    bp_core_add_nav_item( __( ‘Example’, ‘bp-example’ ), /* The display name */ $bp->example->slug // The slug );

    With the “// The slug );” comment, the closing parenthesis and semicolon will also get commented out.

    To fix it, it should read something like:

    bp_core_add_nav_item( __( ‘Example’, ‘bp-example’ ), /* The display name */ $bp->example->slug /* The slug */ );

    Once again, great job and thanks for all your hard work! :)

    UPDATE: This version is now official (along with some more updates) please download this version. Huge thanks to Jeff Sayre for all his work on this!

    http://testbp.org/resources/bp-skeleton-component-1.2.zip

    Announcing version 1.2_URC2 of the BuddyPress Skeleton Component for plugin developers.

    I finally finished going over all the relevant changesets in trac and have completed the update of the skeleton component to RC2 standards.

    Now that BuddyPress RC2 is out, it is important that plugin developers use this version instead of v1.2_URC1 or v1.1.

    As with URC1, this is still considered unofficial until Andy has had a chance to look it over. Once he has finished, and it is ready to go, it may be moved over to the BuddyPress site. Until then, you can get it at the above link.

    As before, please report any bugs or other issues with this release candidate within this thread.

    Happy coding!

    Yes, I mean the site wide activity, and also the members wire who made the post that was removed.

    Well, as it is cached, how do I clear the cache and regenerate it?

    I can see some real capability for some serious abuse of websites with a system like this.

    Maybe a button in the buddypress admin to clear/regen the cache is a good idea?

    Ok, I solved this.

    When changing slugs, css needs to be hacked a little to show the icons properly. For example, when you change groups slug to communities in bp-custom like this:

    define('BP_GROUPS_SLUG', 'communities');

    You will need to find the following css entry from base.css locating at bp-themes/buddypress-member/css/.

    li a#user-groups, li a#my-groups {background: url(../images/groups_bullet.gif) 88% 52% no-repeat;}

    Copy above, create a file called custom.css if you haven’t done yet. Modify the css to:

    li a#user-communities, li a#my-communities {background: url(../../images/groups_bullet.gif) 88% 52% no-repeat;}

    And upload custom.css to bp-themes/buddypress-member/css/custom-components/

    That’s it!!

    Hi everyone

    I’m using WordPressMU 2.7.1 and all of the RC2 BuddyPress plugins. Everything is set up and working just fine (even the FB-Connect plugin) except for the fact that in IE 7 the FB avatar and the text in the light-yellow box that contains the name and reads “Registered 2 days, 4 hours ago” is out of alignment on the front page (under the default grey “Members” bar).

    Here’s a screenshot

    > http://www.anxietyzone.com/av_issue.png

    What file can I edit to correct this issue?.

    Thanks so much, Steve
